2 CNC LESTE General description The CNC controls of the Leste series provide powerful processing, universal functionalities, simple commissioning and ease of use. In addition to a PowerPC Microprocessor, the specially developed interpolation circuits INT4FT320 guarantee incomparable speed. Furthermore, various data interfaces are available for extension and communication purposes. 3 Hardware Hardware description General description Embedded-System with PowerPC Microprocessor and FPGA Multilayer printed circuit (motherboard) Modular concept for additional axes Separated supply points for CPU and IOs In- and outputs isolated CEM / CE compatible Direct Hardware Interpolation (DHI) The DHI interpolation system is based on the integrated circuit INT4FT320 developed by Affolter. This circuit closes the positioning loop and the interpolations. A positional change of an axis generates immediate processing. The resulting reference is calculated at a cadence of 18 MHz. This circuit permits the treatment of all axes in 90 ns, regardless of the number of axes. One circuit can control the 4 axes of the motherboard and up to 8 additional axes, all interpolated simultaneously. The processing of the interpolations in pure hardware allows the software to supervise the exact movement, speed and acceleration of each axis in a precise and quick way.

5 Firmware FW PCsupervised FW PCsupervised is a universal CNC Firmware. Although the control is operated via an HMI (Control Panel or PC), the function is autonomous. This enables part-programs to be executed without HMI. The HMI serves only as a display (program sequence, axis positions...) and for operating. 7 HMI LesteHMI The software LesteHMI is more than a simple user-interface: 4Parametrisable The LesteHMI software is a user interface parametrisable for any machine tool. 43 main pages LesteHMI offers a Program editor, a Jogging page and a page for executing the part-programs and for monitoring the production. In addition the software contains all the pages for the parametrising of the control and the HMI. Start page 4Programming in APD Programming in APD (Affolter Plaintext Dialog) is particularly simple and user-friendly. No knowledge of G-Code is necessary. 4Machining cycles LesteHMI disposes of all necessary functions for milling and turning, also for special applications. Functions which are used frequently in an application can be grouped; functions not required are deactivated. Jogging page with tool definition 4Graphics support A multitude of graphic supports simplify the creation and checking of the part-program and the parametrising of the control. 4Workshop network The LesteNET option manages several networked machines, thus guaranteeing the centralised administration of production and part-programs. Storage of the part-programs takes place on the control HMI, on USB stick or on PC (via Ethernet or wireless LAN). Machine supervision with production control 4Universal Developed in Java, LesteHMI is independent of the hardware and the operating system (Windows, Linux, etc) 4Individualising LesteHMI offers the facility to integrate application-specific operator interfaces.
