Purpose Target group The manual contains all the information required for application of the equipment for installation and maintenance. The contents of this manual are intended for qualified personnel of energy supply companies responsible for installation and maintenance of the equipment. 4 Operating Manual- 3ph GPRS Module 4 / 11 1 Introduction MGT1-HX GSM/GPRS communication module is applicable for the HXE310 type of three phase meter, which realizes the remote communication function of AMI meter and prepayment meter. The module supports GPRS communication and GSM communication, which furnishes SMS remote meter reading and three online modes: permanent online & period online & passive activation, separately. The module furnishes three online modes: permanent online & period online & passive activation. GPRS meter reading by DLMS protocol SMS meter reading by DLMS protocol, SMS byte number per frame should be less than 140 bytes. SMS mode supports the prepayment meter reading command; SMS mode supports issuance of token code Initiate reporting of alarm under the GPRS mode Shielding illegal calls Supporting initiative SMS reporting as needed by meter Hot swap Initiative reporting of powering off event at the moment when there is power outage. 4 Indicator Lights V1 is green local communication light. If V1 is lightened, it means the module and meter communication is OK. vice versa. V2/V3 light located on the right side. Green light V2 is network communication light, red

V2 network communication light: Off no network/no SIM card/no signal/broken module 1HZ flickering GSM register successful always on GPRS logon successful V3 data communication light The light flickers at the frequency of 10HZ when the module is communicating with the external equipment through SMS or GPRS. 5 SIM Card Loading and Replacing a. Open the card slot by pushing to left

8 Operating Manual- 3ph GPRS Module 8 / 11 c. Close the card slot and push it at right side to make sure the SIM card is fixed firmly. When you need to change the card when the meter is running. Please open the SIM card slot and push the card-changing button 5S until the module indicator V5 is off. Changing the card within 30s. Hardware interface is in accordance with Hardware Interface Specification between Communication Module and Meter of Hexing. 8 Important Notes Do not place it within the airtight metal box, otherwise you should lead the antenna out of the metal box Please set up the lightning rod when it is used in a high place out door. The product is not water-proof. Please do not place it in the open air and humid place without any shelter. Please protect it against electrostatic discharge. This module is equipped with the function of power off alarming. If it is

10 Operating Manual- 3ph GPRS Module 10 / 11 communicating with the master station, it will stop working after the alarming frame is sent to the master station and receives response from master station. If it can t communicate with the master station, or can t receive response from master station, the module will stop working until the voltage is lower than the operating voltage.
