4 Issue received Cannot connect to internet via Wireless network, Go to Step 1 Internet disconnects automatically/slow transmission speed, Go to Step 3 1. Turn on the Wireless Lan HW to solve problem. Press Fn+ Wireless Lan icon (Image 1) Wireless Lan is on/off (Image 2) Ensure the connection is enabled (Image 3) Works unwell, Go to step 2. Works well, Issue closed. (Wireless Lan HW/SW was off) on (Image 1) (Image 2) off (Image 3) Note 1: For some models, Wireless Lan HW is controlled by quick launch key/switch; please refer to the user manual for more information. Note 2: Ensure SCM is installed properly before turn on the Wireless Lan HW. Trouble Shooting Procedure WLAN 3
5 2. Whether Wireless Lan device is equipped on the system. Wireless Lan card is equipped, Go to step 3 Wireless Lan card is not equipped, Issue closed. (No WLAN card inside) Note: Suggest powering off the notebook and resetting EC by remove the AC adapter and battery, if Wireless adapter is not detected. 3. Connect to AP/Move to the spot with stronger signal to solve problem. Works unwell, Go step 4 Works well. Issue closed (Transmission signal was not strong enough). (Image 1) (Image 2) Note 1: Suggest taking the NB to the local cafe with free internet access or disabling the security of AP for verification. Note 2: Windows Network Diagnostics (Image 2) may be able to solve the issue. Trouble Shooting Procedure WLAN 4
6 4. Reinstall/Update Wireless LAN driver to solve problem Works unwell, Go step 5. Works well. Issue closed (Wireless Lan driver issue). Note: Identifying MSI Notebooks WLAN modules thru Label Verification, please refer to the following link Adjust Internet (Image 1)/Wireless LAN Adapter setting (Image 2) or Firewall (Image 3) to solve problem Works unwell, Go step 6. Works well. Issue closed (Incorrect setting) (Image 1) Trouble Shooting Procedure WLAN 5
7 (Image 2) (Image 3) Note: Adjust the frequency, bandwidth and channel of Wireless Adapter may be needed to support higher transmission speed Trouble Shooting Procedure WLAN 6
8 6. Reset the setting/update FW of AP to solve problem. Works unwell, Go step 7. Works well. Issue closed (Incorrect setting/ap issue). Note: Please refer to the AP s user manual for the detailed setting information. Ensure the AP s spec is met for MSI Notebooks WLAN modules, such as frequency, bandwidth and channel. 10 8. Update the all latest device drivers one by one. Uninstall device drivers from Device Manger (Image 1) or Control Panel (Image 2) before update the new device drivers. Works unwell, Go step 9.
