Using O2 WLAN you can have access to all the information you need, when you need it, wherever you are in the UK*. Use O2 Connection Manager software to get online quickly and easily. Check your s, access your company network and surf the internet, all while you re waiting for a train or plane or in a coffee shop. 3 What do I need? Before you get going. Check your laptop has WiFi capabilities. Most models do, but if yours doesn t you can still get online, you just need to buy a WiFi adaptor from your local electronic retailer All WLAN networks require you to log on to show that you re a paying customer. With O2 you have a choice of using your voice or data SIM card to log on to the O2 WLAN service. Please ensure your SIM card is provisioned with the O2 WLAN service. Give our O2 Business Customer Service team a call, they can do this for you Install the O2 Connection Manager software - it s free and you can download it easily from waystoconnect/o2connectionmanager Ensure you re in range of an O2 WLAN hotspot. You can use WLAN anywhere you see WiFi Zone The Cloud or WiFi Zone BT Openzone. For locations check out our hotspot directory detailed in this leaflet Where are the hotspots? Before you get started you can find out where the nearest hotspot is there s over 9,000 hotspots across the UK and beyond for you to use. Click on to open the O2 Connection Manager software and click on to open up the directory You can search by location name or even by postcode etc. Enter the details and press Search A list of hotspots will be shown Double click on one and find out the full details for the hotspot location Now you ve found a hotspot read on to get online with O2 Connection Manager. 2 3

4 Get online O2 offers two ways for you to log on to our WLAN network. You can either use the SIM in your data card or you can take a call on your mobile phone to confirm your identity and start accessing the internet. If you log on by data card we ll automatically confirm your identity from the O2 SIM in the data card. If you don t use a data card you can log on by voice confirmation. To get online follow the step by step instructions below. Log on using the SIM in your data card If you are an O2 data card user then we recommend you use this method to access O2 WLAN. Before you start please ensure your data card has been installed correctly. For further information go to the instructions on how to install your data card in the trouble shooting section at the back of this guide. Ensure that your data card is in your laptop and that you are within range of an O2 WLAN hotspot. Double click on the O2 Connection Manager icon to open Click on Connect and O2 Connection Manager will automatically connect you to the internet Click on show available networks and you ll see O2 UK WLAN and O2 UK in the show available networks screen 4 5

5 Log on using your mobile phone Using your voice SIM is just as simple and easy to use and you can use the O2 Connection Manager software for voice authentication. It s a great alternative if you re not planning on using an O2 data card. Once O2 UK WLAN is available in the show available networks click Manual Login For BT Openzone You ll need to select your Internet Service provider. Select O2 from the drop down menu You ll then be taken directly to the following page Enter your mobile number when prompted and click on SIGN ME IN This will launch your web browser and present you with The Cloud or BT Openzone landing page For The Cloud Click on the O2 icon You ll then be taken directly to the following page Enter your mobile number when prompted and click on GO The final stage You ll receive an automated call asking if you want to accept the O2 UK WLAN session. Answer the call and then press 1 on your mobile to accept That s it you can now end the call and begin your internet session 6 7

6 Trouble shooting I have followed the instructions and the landing page still says I can t connect. What do I do? Most wireless enabled laptops are preconfigured and you can access straight away. If you can t, simply compare the settings below. These instructions are based on the Windows XP operating system. Open up your Internet Explorer browser Select Tools Internet Options Connections LAN settings You ll need to ensure the following options are unchecked Automatically detect settings Use automatic configuration script Use a proxy server for your LAN How do I get the latest Hotspot Directory? Hotspots are being added all the time. When the directory is updated you ll be informed the next time you log on so you can download the latest list. How do I ensure I m using the latest O2 Connection Manager software? Software updates are prompted in exactly the same way as the Hotspot Directory updates. I can t find a network If you still can t find a network contact O2 Customer Service or your account manager WLAN hotspot coverage can be affected by the distance you are from the hotspot If you can't pick up the O2 WLAN network then try a different position in the building Have I installed my data card correctly? Double click on the O2 Connection Manager icon to open Click on Tools Install Data card Select a Manufacturer, then select the model of the data card you intend to use a picture of your datacard will appear on screen click Next to continue You ll be asked whether your data card has been installed on your PC before. Select No and then click on Next When prompted select Next again to install the drivers for your data card When the installation is complete select Next You can now insert your data card into your PC. Don t press anything else as it will take some time for your card to be recognised. Your toolbar along the bottom of your computer screen will show a pop-up message The card has been successfully installed. You can now select Next on the Device Selection Wizard screen Another screen will appear asking you to confirm that the device is ready select Yes and then click Next The Device Selection Wizard will search for the port for your data card. Once the port is found a new screen will appear confirming that a compatible card was found on your computer. To complete click Finish If your SIM card is PIN protected you ll be asked to insert the PIN number then select Unlock. Be careful though. If you enter an incorrect PIN code three times in a row, your SIM card will become locked, and you ll have to enter a PUK code to unlock it. To get a PUK code, you ll need to contact O2 Customer Service or visit o2.co.uk/puk and follow the instructions Your data card is now installed and ready to go Where can I find details on the O2 WLAN tariffs?
