The Wearable Technologies Show presents new products from one of the fastest growing markets in the sports, fitness, and health industry. The success story of Wearable Technologies commenced several years ago with heart monitors, heatable clothing and helmet cameras that are so popular today. All these products set trends and became standards for the modern sports- and fitness market. The market of Wearable Technologies has meanwhile developed an impressive dynamic that offers unequaled opportunities in the sports market. The latest smart sleeves design not only obtains heart rate, respiration rate and skin temperature but also sustains a long wash cycle to make smart clothing a tangible solution to customers. Additional Electrophysiological signals like ECG, EEG or EMG as well as skin hydration and HRV can be incorporated into BioMan to fit customers applications. 3 CSEM: Patient-monitoring technology Today s medical device technology is able to measure physiological parameters such as ECG, blood pressure, body core temperature, SpO2, cardiac output etc., at a clinic or physician s practice. It generally remains highly challenging however to measure them non-invasively and unobtrusively under ambulatory conditions - e.g., during daily activities or exercise. CSEM s patient-monitoring technology integrates innovative sensing and processing technologies into wearable devices and smart clothes. The key to its success resides in advanced signal processing concepts on embedded low-power platforms, providing continuous assessment and feedback of personal health status. Danfoss PolyPower A/S: Wearable Stretch Sensors Danfoss PolyPower A/S is a start-up company which develops and produces electroactive polymers. The new design based on PolyPower technology is unique wearable stretch sensors for unobtrusive and precise measurement of stretch on the human body, such as motion, breathing, swelling, gait, posture etc. within sports and medical applications. On show at ISPO is a new demonstrator of a working angle sensor that could support a golf player in improving his or her swing. 4 Fraunhofer IIS: FitnessSHIRT The Fraunhofer Society is Europe s largest non-profit organization for applied research. Fraunhofer IIS in Erlangen today is the largest institute of all 60 Fraunhofer institutes and research facility for microelectronics systems and software. Successful developments such as audio coding standard mp3, the chip-in-ball technology RedFIR and goal decision technology GoalRef compression represent the institute s expertise. At ISPO 2013 Fraunhofer IIS presents the FitnessSHIRT for mobile vital parameter monitoring in sports and spare time activities. Fraunhofer IZM: Electronic packaging Fraunhofer IZM in Berlin develops assembly and interconnection technology, also known as electronic packaging. Their technologies connect the individual components, protect components and devices from vibration and moisture, and reliably dissipate heat. Fraunhofer IZM thus ensures that electronic devices continue to function reliably in even the harshest conditions we even integrate electronics into golf balls. The group System-on-Flex develops integration technologies for new and highly reliable Smart Textiles. Applications in the field of lighting, security, and condition monitoring are in the main focus. ICEdot: Safety for athletes Crash Sensor ICEdot is an emergency identification and notification service that provides critical emergency contact and health information at the scene of an accident. The retrieval can be initiated manually to a phone number engraved in the ICEdot Band worn on the wrist of the athlete or fully automatically by an ICEdot Crash Sensor built into a helmet and detecting an impact. The emergency information can be contacts of relatives or doctors and even crucial medical details, for example if the user has diabetes or any allergies. The service utilizes the Internet, mobile applications and SMS technology to quickly identify a patient, relay important medical information, provide and notify emergency contacts.
