4 ios CallKit with Tango Communicator Apple s website describes the ios 10 CallKit as a new framework that lets your VoIP app integrate tightly with the native Phone UI. You can have your incoming calls displayed fully on the lock screen. People can choose to use [the Tango Communicator] app when making calls from the native Phone s Contacts, Favorites, and Recents. Adopting CallKit lets [the] app coexist seamlessly with other active calls. 1 The CallKit is an iphone feature available in ios 10. The CallKit is an extension to the iphone s telephony framework allowing calls made from the native dialer interface to interact with 3 rd party solutions. Tango uses the ios CallKit to allow business calls to be made from the native user interface. Tango s solution is designed to take advantage of the native iphone user experience that is provided by Apple CallKit and evolve as Apple evolves CallKit. Accelerator Provisioning The way in which the CallKit works with the Communicator app, it is more natural to have the multi-line functionality off (Corporate Liable with Allow Personal Calls unchecked). This setting routes Business calls through the app. Personal calls still route via the Wireless network and do not involve the Accelerator. The Communicator app still works fine with multi-line enabled. For more information, see the Accelerator Provisioning Guide, Subscriber section and search for Mobile Account Type. Allow Access for App The first time you launch the Communicator app you will be asked to allow access for these areas (recommended action is Allow/OK): Figure 1 Allow Access for App 1 Source: Revision April 2018 CONFIDENTIAL Page 4 of 21
5 Login to Communicator App Two methods to login to the Communicator app are provided here: Manually enter login credentials. Use Welcome to download app and login. Manually Enter Login Credentials You will need to know your Username, Password, and Config Server to login manually. Username You can use your mobile number or your full desk number: o mobile number such as: o full desk number such as: Password Obtain your password from the Accelerator administrator. Config Server This can be an IP address (not recommended) or the DNS resolvable hostname to your Accelerator. 6 Welcome Sending a Welcome is the easiest method for downloading and logging in with the Communicator app. The Accelerator provisioning admin will initiate the Welcome from the provisioning interface. 1. Open the Welcome from your iphone program. Select and copy the Verification Code. Click the here link. Figure 3 Welcome 2. Registration with the Accelerator is automatic. If your registration fails for some reason, you should receive a pop message indicating failure. Figure 9 Calling from Contacts Tango s solution is known to the CallKit as Communicator. Selecting buttons with the Communicator label makes the call a Business Call. 13 Call Services & Business Voic Widgets The iphone allows the Tango Communicator App to configure a Widget for easy access to Call Services and Business Voic . Call Services includes Call Move, Blind Transfer, and Consultative Transfer. iphone widgets can be accessed from the Home screen by swiping right see Figure 15. Figure 15 Swipe Right for Widget Screen Once in the widget screen, scroll all the way down to the bottom and find the Edit button. 14 Now find the widget named CallInfo and click the Plus Sign to add this widget. After clicking the Plus Sign, grab the handles on the right to place this widget near the top of your screen. Figure 17 Swipe Right for Widget Screen The CallInfo widget contains: Move Call From Desk While in an active call, you can move the call from your desk phone to your mobile by clicking this link. 15 Active Calls and the CallInfo Widget Once a call is established, you can access additional Call Services from the CallInfo widget. Figure 18 shows an active call and the options available when you navigate to the CallInfo widget. Consult Dial the number to which you want the call transferred and wait for the party to answer the phone. 16 Call Services Menu The Call Services menu offers similar functionality as the CallInfo Widget inside the Communicator app. Figure 19 Call Services Menu Move From Desk You must have an active desk call in progress to initiate a Move From Desk. Access the Call Services menu and select Move From Desk and the call will transfer to your Communicator app. Move From Cellular Allows you to move a call from the cellular network to VoIP using the Communicator app. During Active Call During an active app call you can move the call or transfer it to another number. 17 Transfer Two options for transferring a call: o o Immediate Dial the number to which you want the call transferred. Consult Dial the number to which you want the call transferred and wait for the party to answer the phone. A pop-up Transfer Progress screen is presented with the following prompts: Dismiss Cancel Transfer Complete Transfer Interactions with 2 Stage Dialing When your Mobile Communicator app is set to 2 Stage Dialing, you will see a message on your iphone that shows the number you originally dialed preceded by the 2 Stage access number. Figure 21 shows if your iphone is configured for 2 Stage dialing. You may have other options selected but we re interested in the 2 Stage dialing option for now. Figure 21 Stage Dialing Settings Option Look at Figure 22. The original dialed number is Dallas Time & Temperature phone number The pop up message on the iphone shows a slightly different number than the one you dialed. Notice that the call is preceded with another number that you may not recognize. When configured as 2 Stage dialing, the app makes a call to the Accelerator first and then out pulses the original dialed digits. As the end user, you will hear the call ring, then answer, and then you will hear a of DTMF tones representing the number you dialed. Revision April 2018 CONFIDENTIAL Page 17 of 21
18 Figure 22 Stage Dialing After the call is finished, you will notice a Temporary Pilot entry in your call History. This entry is not meant to be dialed or redialed. Finding the Temporary Pilot in your listing indicates that your call had to first contact the Accelerator before calling the number you dialed 2 Stage Dialing. 19 Accelerator Server-Side Interactions Call Delivery Notification Prior to the 8.0 release, the Accelerator would send a SIP NOTIFY request for call delivery information. If there was no response, the Accelerator would fall back to sending a PUSH notification containing the same information. This feature bypasses the SIP NOTIFY message and sends only the PUSH message for call delivery notifications. Disconnect Notification In general, the call delivery notification should have a corresponding disconnect notification. Prior to 8.0, these were sent as a SIP NOTIFY and the client would remain registered throughout the call. This feature converts the disconnect notifications to use PUSH messages. Terminations VoIP Client Terminations VoIP terminations begin with the receipt of the Incoming Call Notification PUSH message. When the Communicator app has VoIP enabled, the Incoming Call Notification will drive the app to re-register so that it can receive the SIP INVITE for the incoming VoIP call. When the Communicator app is in the background not an active app the client is not registered. The app wakes up and registers the client. Registration Timer After sending the call delivery notification, call processing will suspend until the client registers or the reregistration timer expires. The default value for ios devices is every 700 seconds. Non-iOS devices have a 600 second timer. Non-VoIP Client Terminations For non-voip terminations, the only change will be sending a PUSH notification instead of a SIP NOTIFY. The rest of the call is unaffected by this feature. There is no registration timer and call processing continues immediately. Registration Failure The client could attempt to register but fail authentication, or it could never send a register at all. In these cases, calls are routed to the PSTN.
20 Client Originations The client must be registered in order to originate a call in the first place. It may or may not reregister after the call delivery notification, but for originations, this does not affect the call flow. Revision April 2018 CONFIDENTIAL Page 2 of 21
