3 Milestone Plug-in Guide Introduction This guide describes basic installation and operation procedure for the PROMISE WebPAM PROe plug-in for Milestone XProtect Video Management Software (VMS). Guide Summary This guide provides the following information: Description of the plug-in installation steps for Milestone XProtect Management Client and Smart Client. Description of the operation and configuration of the plug-in. An explanation of the plug-in user interface. Installation Summary The installation and setup are summarized as follows: 1. Install the Client plug-ins on the management client and the smart client. 2. Install the WebPAMPROe service package on the Vess A Connect the Vess A2000 to the management server. 4. Connect to the Vess A2000 NVR Storage Appliance and begin using the XProtect Management Client and Smart Client software. 1

5 Milestone Plug-in Guide Topology For user reference, the diagram below illustrates the basic topology of a surveillance network featuring the Vess A2000 NVR Storage Appliance with Milestone XProtect software. 3

6 Vess A2000 NVR Storage Appliance Promise Technologies Install the Plug-in Follow these steps to install the PROMISE Milestone Software plug-in on the client systems. Extract the zipped setup file. There are four files: a. VessA2000WebPAMPROeXPMC-x.x.x.x-x32.exe ( For Milestone management client32 bit ) b. VessA2000WebPAMPROeXPMC-x.x.x.x-x64.exe ( For Milestone management client 64 bit ) c. VessA2000WebPAMPROeXPSC-x.x.x.x-x32.exe ( For Milestone smart client 32 bit ) d. VessA2000WebPAMPROeXPSC-x.x.x.x-x64.exe ( For Milestone smart client 64 bit ) Note that two installations needed, a Management Client and a Smart Client. Choose the correct version (32 bit or 64 bit) for your system. The x.x.x.x represents the version number. Install Management Client Plug-in 1. Launch the installation file for the Management Client. If you have any related applications running, close those before proceeding. Click Next in the first dialog box. 4

7 Milestone Plug-in Guide 2. Read the User License Agreement, tick the I accept box if you agree, and click on the Install button to continue with the installation. 3. Choose the install location. To choose an alternative to the default location, click on the Browse button. Click the Install button to proceed with the installation. 5

After installing the Management Client, launch the client program and verify that the plug-in is installed. Install Smart Client Plug-in 1. Now launch the installation file for the Smart Client. Click Next in the first dialog box. 6

9 Milestone Plug-in Guide 2. Read the User License Agreement, tick the I accept box if you agree, and click on the Next button to continue with the installation. 3. Choose the install location. To choose an alternative to the default location, click on the Browse button. Click the Install button to proceed with the installation. 7

Verify Client is installed Next, verify the installation from the XProtect Client. In the Management Client menu, check to see that the Vess A2000 WebPAMPROe appears listed under MIP Plug-ins (see below). 8

11 Milestone Plug-in Guide Install WebPAM PROe service Follow these steps to install Vess A2000 WebPAMPROe Service on the Vess A Launch the VessA2000WebPAMPROe installer package for the Vess A2000 Recording Server. 2. Choose the install location. To choose an alternative to the default location, click on the Browse button. Click the Install button to proceed with the installation. 9

13 Milestone Plug-in Guide Connect to management server To connect the Vess A2000 NVR to the Management Server, provide the following information in the menu: Server Address: Management server IP Address. User name: Management server Windows user account. Password: Management server Windows user account password. Event Notification Filter: The level of severity for events to be notified in PROMISE Storage tab of the Smart Client. 1. Click on the Save button to save the settings. 2. Click on Test Settings to test if the login settings are correct. If the login is unsuccessful, check the settings and try it again. 3. To Start or Stop the WebPAM PROe service, click the Start Service and Stop Service buttons. 11

16 Vess A2000 NVR Storage Appliance Promise Technologies EVENT NOTIFICATION New events in the Recording Server are highlighted in Vess A2000 WebPAMPROe tab. Settings for VessA2000 The Event Notification Filter determines the level of severity for an event to trigger a real-time notification. In the example below, there are two event notifications of a severity level equal to or greater than the filter setting. Event notification alert 14

18 Vess A2000 NVR Storage Appliance Promise Technologies Connect to PROMISE Web GUI With the plug-in installed, the Management Client and Smart Client can connect to WebPAM PROe. Follow the instructions below. Connect from Management Client 1. Select MIP Plug-ins > VessA2000WebPAMPROe >Platform Management. 2. Choose server then click Go, wait to connect to WebPAM PROe. 3. Type the WebPAM PROe administrator password (default is administrator) in user name field 4. Type the password (default is password) in password field to login WebPAMPROe 5.
