1 Softphone Softphone User Guide The desktop Softphone enables you to utilize basic calling features from your or Mac. Impact Telecom recommends that you use the Bria 4 by CounterPath for your ImpactConnect Hosted PBX Softphone solution, but please be aware that the Bria 4 is a third party solution and is not supported by Impact Telecom. Screenshots in this guide may not reflect the most recent version of the Softphone. How to set up the Softphone Download and register the Softphone to make and receive calls. 1. Download the Softphone for your or Mac. DOWNLOAD FOR WINDOWS DOWNLOAD FOR 2. Once you download the Softphone, please contact Impact Telecom Customer Support at or customersupport@impacttelecom.com to request Softphone credentials. Your credentials will be ed to you. 3. Open the Softphone. 4. : Click the Softphone button located in the upper left-hand corner. Mac: From the menu bar, click Bria 4 and select Preferences. 1

2 5. : Click Account Settings, highlight your account, and then click Edit. You will be taken to the Account tab. Mac: Select Account and double click your account. You will be taken to the Account tab. 6. In the Account tab, enter your User ID, Domain, and Password that you received in your Softphone Credentials Click OK. Your Softphone is now registered and ready to use. 2

3 How to use the Softphone You can (1) make and receive calls and (2) participate in three-way conferences. If you have more than one SIP account enabled, you will need to explicitly specify the account to use for incoming and outgoing calls. The ImpactConnect Hosted PBX Star Codes are also compatible with your Softphone. Specify your Account 1. : Click Softphone, then select Account Settings, and choose your preferred account from the bottom drop-down menu. Mac: From the menu bar, choose Bria 4, and then click Preferences. Select Account and choose your preferred account from the drop-down menu in the bottom right-hand corner. 2. Click Ok. Make a Call 1. Enter the phone number in the call entry field using the keypad or your computer keyboard. 2. Click the Call button or press Enter. CLICK HERE TO PLACE THE CALL CLICK HERE TO PLACE THE CALL 3. Your voice call will be placed. 4. To end the call, press the red End Call button. 3

4 Three-Way Call 1. Enter the first party s phone number in the call entry field using the keypad or your computer keyboard. 2. Select the drop-down arrow next to the green phone button in the upper-right hand corner and choose Start Conference Call. 3. Enter the second party s number and click the Call button or press Enter. 4. Your conference call will be placed. 5. To end the call, press the red End Call button. OR to join a third party into an existing call: 1. On an active call window, click the three dots button and select Invite to Conference Call. 2. Enter the third party s number. 3. A call will be placed to a third party and your conference call will begin. 4

5 OR merge two existing calls: 1. Place one of your active calls on hold by pressing the Pause button on an active call window. 2. Toggle to your other call and press the three dots button and select Merge Calls. 3. Your two active calls will be merged into a three-way conference call. 5

6 Answer a Call Your Softphone must be running to receive an incoming call. If you would like the Softphone to ring when your desk phone rings, set up Simultaneous Ring and your Softphone will ring with your desk phone when receiving an incoming call. Check out our ImpactConnect Hosted PBX User Guide for more information about setting up Simultaneous Ring. 1. An incoming call window will appear on your screen. 2. Click the Answer button to answer the call. 3. To end the call, click the red End Call button. Add a Contact 1. : Click the Contacts tab. Mac: From the menu bar, click Contacts. 2. Click Add Contact. 3. Enter the contact s information and click Ok. 6

7 Favorite a Contact 1. Click on the Contacts icon on the bottom ribbon. 2. Right click a contact you want to add to favorites. 3. Click Add to Favorites. 4. Click the Favorites icon on the bottom ribbon to view your favorites. 5. Right click a favorited contact and select Remove from Favorites to remove a contact from your favorites list. 7

8 View Call History 1. : Click the View tab on the top ribbon. Mac: From the menu bar, click View. 2. Click Show History. 8

9 Configure Voic Configure your Softphone voic settings so you can access your ImpactConnect Hosted PBX voic inbox by dialing *98 from your Softphone. 1. : Click the Softphone button located in the upper left-hand corner. Mac: From the menu button, click Preferences. 2. : Click Account Settings. You will be taken to the Account tab. Mac: Click Account. You will be taken to the Account tab. 3. : Click on the account you want to configure voic for and click Edit. You will be taken to the Account tab. Mac: Double click the account you want to configure voic for. You will be taken to the Account tab. 4. In the Number to dial for checking voic field, enter * Click Ok. When you dial *98 on your Softphone, you will be taken to your voic inbox.
