New Features 1. Supports VLAN Priority and VLAN ID management on specific adapters. 2. Supports reading MAC addresses on specified adapters. 3. Dropped support for OCe10100-series adapters. Resolved Issues 1. The Extloopback command in WinLpCfg and LinLpCfg is now supported for LPe16000-series adapters running at 16Gb link speed. 2. The Elxflash and LpCfg Management Utilities Manual has been corrected for the following issue: The extloopback, intloopback, and pciloopback commands require additional explanation for the o=3 option. 2 Known Issues 1. The 10.4 firmware versions include new features that require new flash regions to support them. Firmware versions earlier than did not have the ability to configure the flash regions to support these new features. If you are updating from a firmware version earlier than , use one of these methods to update to the 10.4 firmware: Use the OneConnect Flash ISO tool. Use the released 10.4 version of the Elxflash and LpCfg utility. You must perform the firmware update procedure twice to ensure that the flash regions are properly configured, and you must reboot the system after each firmware update. Do not use Linux inbox drivers when performing the firmware update. After you have updated the firmware, you must not downgrade the firmware to a version earlier than An incorrect Vital Product Data (VPD) serial number causes the Elxflash utility to mis-identify OneConnect OCe11102 Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) converged network adapters (CNAs). (Linux ElxflashOffline and Windows ElxflashOffline.) If the FCoE CNA VPD serial number does not match the serial number reported by the Management Interface Library (MILI) daemon, the Elxflash offline utility may misidentify the OneConnect OCe11102 FCoE CNA as an OCe11102 Internet Small Computer Serial Interface (iscsi) CNA. Confirm that the OCe11102 FCoE CNA s VPD serial number matches the serial number reported by the MILI daemon. If it does not, contact Emulex Technical Support. 3. When using the fwmatrix.txt file, the Elxflash utilities use the last matching entry of the CNA or HBA being evaluated. (Linux ElxflashOffline and Windows ElxflashOffline.) If there are multiple entries, the Elxflash utilities use the last matching entry only. This is expected behavior. Verify that the fwmatrix.txt file does not have duplicate entries. 4. For Linux ElxflashOffline, Elxflash Standalone, and FreeBSD ElxflashOffline, the loopback ( lo ) interface IP address must be for the MILI daemon to start. (Linux ElxflashOffline, Standalone, and FreeBSD Offline) Configure the lo interface IP address to The Linux ElxflashOffline and Elxflash Standalone kits require out-of-box LPFC, NIC and iscsi drivers. If the out-of-box LPFC, NIC and iscsi drivers are not installed, the following effects occur: While FCoE and NIC functions may be discovered, iscsi functions will not be discovered. 3 While downloads to FCoE and NIC functions may be available, iscsi functions will not be available. : Ensure that you have downloaded the out-of-box LPFC, NIC, and iscsi drivers from the Emulex website. 6. The Linux ElxflashOffline, ElxflashStandalone, and FreeBSD ElxflashOffline kits require that /proc is mounted. If /proc is not mounted CNA enumeration fails. Ensure that /proc is mounted. 7. The Windows ElxflashOffline and Elxflash Standalone kits require out-of-box FC/FCoE, NIC, and iscsi drivers. If the out-of-box FC/FCoE, NIC, and iscsi drivers are not installed, the following effects occur: FC/FCoE, NIC, and iscsi functions will not be discovered. LpCfg and Elxflash report incorrect data for FC/FCoE, iscsi, and NIC functions. Firmware downloads to FC/FCoE, NIC, and iscsi functions may not be available. Download the Windows ElxflashOffline and Windows Elxflash Standalone drivers that are posted on the Emulex website. For Elxflash Offline (Windows PE), run the kit's installer. The installer installs all applicable drivers. 8. The MILI daemon is required by the ElxflashOffline and Elxflash Standalone kits. If the MILI daemon is not running, the following effects occur: NIC and iscsi functions will not be discovered. LpCfg and Elxflash report incorrect data for FCoE functions. Firmware downloads to FCoE, NIC, and iscsi functions are not available. The Elxflash Standalone kit includes a command line option to download to CNAs without requiring the MILI daemon. For Windows ElxflashOffline a) Verify that the MILI Service is running. b) Start the service if it is not running: net start "Emulex MILI Management" For Linux ElxflashOffline a) Verify that the MILI daemon is running. b) Start the daemon if it is not running: /etc/init.d/elxmilid start Elxflash and LpCfg Utilities Release Notes 3

4 For FreeBSD ElxflashOffline a) Verify that the MILI daemon is running. b) Start the daemon if it is not running: /etc/rc.d/elxmilid start For Windows and Linux ElxflashOffline Standalone The MILI service or daemon is started during runtime. If the MILI service or daemon is not started, contact Emulex support. 9. If you are using Citrix XenServer 6.x, the ElxflashOffline kit cannot be installed. When installing the Elxflash on Citrix XenServer 6.x, the ElxflashOffline kit cannot be installed because it conflicts with the inbox OneCommand Manager application core kit. To install the ElxflashOffline kit, the OneCommand Manager application core kit must be removed. Once the ElxflashOffline kit is installed, you may install the OneCommand Manager application core kit. Alternatively, you can install the Linux ElxflashStandalone kit. 10. For Linux ElxflashOffline, after a Network Communications Services Interface (NCSI) download, the system must be cold rebooted. (Linux ElxflashOffline) This is expected behavior. The system must be cold rebooted after an NCSI download. 11. For NIC-only Linux ElxflashOffline, only OneConnect CNAs are supported and only NIC functions are displayed. (Linux ElxflashOffline NIC Only) This NIC-only utility does not support LightPulse HBAs and does not display iscsi or FCoE functions. This is expected behavior. 12. On Windows PE, the MILI service does not start if the WinPEinit application is disabled at boot up. (Windows ElxflashOffline and Windows ElxflashOffline Standalone) Do not disable the WinPE init application; it is required for the MILI service to start. 13. The ChangePersonality and PersonalityInfo commands cannot be used on the OCe14000-series adapters for WinLpCfg and LinLpCfg. 14. A firmware download failure does not generate correct libdfc error. 15. Correction for the Elxflash and LpCfg Management Utilities User Manual, under the heading: Selecting One or More Alternate Boot Devices (setaltboot). The example text is incorrect. 5 Replace the example text with the following line: oslpcfg setaltboot n=1 i=1 w0= w1=a842b6ed l=3 Technical Tips 1. The ElxflashOffline kit for the Citrix operating systems is part of the Linux ElxflashOffline kit for Linux. 2. If Elxflash is reporting erroneous output, run the application with the /xv switch. The /xv switch creates a log file called dbg.log. Forward this log to Emulex Technical Support. 3. The following return codes have been added: 20 - ERROR_MISSING_DEP - Returned when a missing dependency is detected. (Elxflash) 87 - E_INT_REBOOT_REQUIRED - The system must be rebooted to activate the new firmware image and the image must be downloaded again. (LpCfg) 4. When you are updating the firmware or boot code, choose the image file and ensure that you update the fwmatrix.txt file to match the image file you choose. Copyright 2015 Emulex.
