2 Create Image in Proper Format It is necessary to resize all sponsor logos to 100x100 pixels, 72 DPI. TIP: Download necessary software before beginning this process. Resize with IrfanView: 1) Using IrfanView, open your sponsor s logo image. 2) Go to the Image dropdown and select Resize/Resample. We want to Set new size, so change the longest edge to 100 pixels. The shortest edge will automatically update. Before you hit OK change the DPI to 72. 3) Next, go to the Image dropdown, select Change canvas size, and pull out your calculator! To figure out how much needs to be added to the canvas to get a perfect 100x100 image, follow these steps: 4) In this example, our image was 237 x 168: Page 2

3 5) We resized the longest edge to 100 pixels, which resized our image to 100 x 71: 6) The shortest side of our image is 71 pixels. HOWEVER - We need to change the canvas size so that it is a nice event square, and 100 pixels on all sides. 7) SO take t 100 minus the length of the shortest side (in this case = 71=29 29). This number is the total of what we need to add to the shortest side to make it 100 pixels long. 8) Divide that number by 2 to figure out exactly how many pixels need added to each side of the image (in this case, giving us 14.5 pixels). 9) In our example, we end up with half a pixel (14.5.5) being added to each side, but the IrfanView cannot do half pixels. So you have to round to the next closest number, while still adding up to 29. In our example, one side will be increased by 14 pixels; one side will be increased by 15 pixels. In situations where the number is a whole number (versus a half), no rounding is necessary. 10) In this instance, the shortest side of our image is the vertical side, so we need to increase the pixels on the top and bottom side of the image. Please note: In our example, the shortest side is the vertical side. In cases where the shortest side of the image is the horizontal, you will need to add pixels to the Left and Right sides. In those instances, make sure the Top and Bottom sides are zeroed out. 11) Choose white as your border color. Click OK. 12) Now your image is a perfect 100x100 pixels! Page 3

4 13) Save your new image as a.gif file. Repeat this process for all sponsor logos. Page 4

5 Animate Images so they Scroll If you have more than one sponsor for your event, you must animate the logos, so that they rotate through all of the sponsors. TIP: Download necessary software before beginning this process. Animate with Microsoft Gif Animator: 1) It is best to have your folder of resized logos open and off to one side of your screen. Start the Gif Animator program, and move it to the other side of your screen. 2) Drag the 100x100 logos onto the white frame at the upper left of the Gif Animator. The program automatically adds on a next frame, to add the next logo. 3) Once your images are added, you can drag and drop them into the desired order. Go to the Animation tab to check that the animation width and height are set to 100x100. 4) Check the Looping box and Repeat Forever in order for your animation to continuously rotate through the images. 5) Now set the duration of each image. Select the first logo in the list and go to the Image tab. The duration is done in 1/100 of a second, so selecting a duration of 100 would be a duration of 1 second. A good setting is (2 to 2.5 seconds). Repeat this step for each logo. 6) To preview your newly animated logos, press the button in the top right. 7) Save and it will automatically save as a.gif file. It is recommended that you include the date in your file name, so if you need to add additional logos at a later time, you can distinguish between the files based on creation date. Page 5

6 Upload Animated Gif to Event Home Page Upload the animated gif file you just created to the image library. 1) From the Event Center go to Manage Event Library, then the Image List tab. Select Upload New Image and find the animated logo file you ve just created. Upload then Finish. 2) Once you are taken back to the Image List tab, click on the Preview link, which opens a new window. 3) From the new window, mouse over the actual image, right click your mouse, and select Copy Link Location. This copies the URL of the scrolling logo file. 4) From the Event Center go to Edit Event Options, then 2. Edit Event Options. Under Related Actions go to Edit Advanced Options and paste the URL you just copied into Sponsor Image Relative Path (replace the default link that s currently there) 5) Save and Finish. Page 6
