4 Writing Web Page Addresses Do this page at your desk. Directions: Copy the Web page addresses. Don t make any spaces or capitals. Example:
5 Reading a Web Page Do this page at your desk. Directions: Find the information on the Web page. Draw a line and circle it. Title of the Web page Computers Programs Web page address 5
6 NOW GO TO A COMPUTER Ask a student with experience or your teacher to help you with the next pages. Note to teacher or tutor: Depending on the set-up and your browser, items may appear differently. It is suggested that you use Internet Explorer and it appears as a shortcut on the desktop of the computers. If you don t choose to put a shortcut, then you will need to teach the students how to open it from the programs menu. When students click in the address box on the browser, the address will appear blue. When the address is blue, the students can begin typing without deleting. You may wish to teach them this. Web page addresses often start with which while typing web page addresses is unnecessary. has been eliminated from the screen shots where students are asked to identify the address in these lessons, however when the students actually go to the sites, the address in the box changes to include it. You may choose to point this out to the students. 6
7 Directions: Follow the instructions. Opening a Web Page 1. Open the Internet by double clicking on the shortcut key on your desktop. 2. Click in the address box. 3. Type in the address box. 4. Click or click Enter on the keyboard. 5. Read the Web page and answer the questions on the next page. 7

10 Going Backward and Forward Do this page with the teacher or a friend. Directions: Follow the instructions. 1. Open the Internet and go to the Web pages. Check that you opened each Web page correctly. If you go to the wrong Web page, start again! Go to Go to Go to yahoo.weather.com Go to Go to Go to 2. Find the Back and Forward buttons. 3. Click the Back button three times. 4. Click on the Forward button two times. 5. What is the Web page now? Address: 6. Exit the Internet. 10

To go to the bottom of the page, click on the scroll bar and hold the button down. Then drag the bar down. When it is at the bottom, release the bar. Top bottom 4. Write 3 things where the hand appears. Example: DMV Home Page Click on DMV Appointments. 5. Write the phone number for a drive test? Exit the Internet. 12
13 Practice Going to Links Directions: Open the Internet and follow the instructions. 1. Follow the instructions to find the weather for Santa Ana. Open weather.yahoo.com Click United States Scroll down to California and click on it. Click S for Santa Ana. Scroll down and find Santa Ana and click on it. What is the temperature currently in Santa Ana? Click the Back button four times and find the weather for another city. What is the city name and current (right now) temperature? City Name: Temperature: 2. Follow the instructions. Open Click on Information. What is the address of the zoo? 3. Follow the instructions. Open Click on Information and then on Location. What is the address of the museum? 4. Exit the Internet. 13
