Ms. Simran has bought a new Inkjet printer. She has connected it to her computer with the help of a USB cable and has switched the printer on. Now, when she is giving the Print command and the printer is not printing. What else is Ms. Simran required to do?.ms. Simran needs to install drivers for the Printer using software CD came along with the Printer.. She needs to manually add the Printer in Computer Devices. vi. Write any two differences between : vii. RAM and ROM. A ROM chip is non-volatile storage and does not require a constant source of power to retain information stored on it. When power is lost or turned off, a ROM chip will keep the information stored on it. In contrast, a RAM chip is volatile and requires a constant source of power to retain information. When power is lost or

2 viii. turned off, a RAM chip will lose the information stored on it.. A ROM chip is used primarily in the startup process of a computer, whereas a RAM chip is used in the normal operations of a computer after starting up and loading the operating system. Application Software and System Software Subject Application Software System Software Definition Purpose Application software is computer software designed to help the user to perform specific tasks. It is specific purpose software. System software is computer software designed to operate the computer hardware and to provide a platform for running application software. It is general-purpose software. ix. Write Short Notes on Following: o Printer Printer is an output device to produce hard copy for a document, picture etc. o Compiler A compiler is a computer program (or set of programs) that transforms source code written in a programming language (the source language) into another computer language (the target language, often having a binary form known as object code). o Browser A computer program with a graphical user interface for displaying HTML files, used to navigate the World Wide Web. 3 Answer the following questions based on Web Development: a) Differentiate between <OL> and <UL> tag. Give example.. OL is Ordered List and UL is Unordered List.. In OL numbering is given to the elements of the list, In UL elements are arranged using symbols. b) What is the difference between <P> and <BR> tag? <P>tag is used to create paragraphs, <BR> is used to create or enter a new line. c) What is the method of using comment line in a HTML code? <! > The comment tag is used to insert comments in the source code. Comments are not displayed in the browsers. d) What is the maximum level of heading in HTML? H6 e) What is the use of IMG TAG? Name all the attributes of IMG TAG. The HTML <img> tag is used to put an image in an HTML document. Attributes of IMG tag: Alt, src, width, height, border, hspace, vspace f) Differentiate between HEAD and TITLE tag. Give example. The head tag includes everything you would you would usually put in the header of a website i.e. name, company picture etc. However the title tag is a tag you can place inside the head tag to say what the title of the website is going to be.

3 g) How HREF (link to object) different from NAME (link from object). Give example. The href attribute specifies the link's destination: <a href=" W3Schools</a> The name attribute specifies the name of an anchor: <a name="c4">chapter 4</a> h) Explain with example ROWSPAN and COLSPAN. COLSPAN and ROWSPAN Table cells can span across more than one column or row. The attributes COLSPAN ("how many across") and ROWSPAN ("how many down") indicate how many columns or rows a cell should take up. For example, we might want to create header cells for each department in our table of names and phone numbers. Bitmap and vector graphics i. JPEG is a standardized image compression mechanism. JPEG is designed for compressing either full-color (4 bit) or grey-scale digital images of "natural" (real-world) scenes. The Graphics Interchange Format was developed in 987 at the request of CompuServe, who needed a platform independent image format that was suitable for transfer across slow connections. It is a compressed (lossless) format (it uses the LZW compression) and compresses at a ratio of between 3: and 5: ii. Comparison of bitmap and vector graphics What are they made up of? What can be edited? What is the file size? What happens when they are resized? Name any two Color modes used in Photoshop. In computers, resolution is the number of pixels (individual points of colour) contained on a display monitor, expressed in terms of the number of pixels on the horizontal axis and the number on the vertical axis. The sharpness of the image on a display depends on the resolution and the size of the monitor. Two colour modes are: RGB and CMYK c) Name any two Sound Editing software.. Sound Forge. CoolEdit d) Define the following image editing tools: i. Blur Tool The blur tool will allow you to blur parts of your photo. ii. Sharpen Tool The "Sharpen Tool" allows you to make the edges of a selected area of your photo stand out. iii. Smudge Tool The "smudge tool" is helpful when you want to remove dust and scratches on old photos. This can also be used to make a photo appear as a painting when used across the entire image. iv. Dodge Tool This is where light is blocked out to make portions of the image lighter. 4
