Introduction The open hub destination is the object that allows you to distribute data from a BI system to non-sap data marts, analytical applications, and other applications. It allows you to ensure controlled distribution across several systems. The open hub destination defines the target to which the data is transferred. Interface Properties: Read interface Programming language is ABAP Mass data is supported Execution in background Programming proficiency is not required Data has to be in an InfoProvider Use Database tables (in the database for the BI system) and flat files can act as open hub destinations. You can extract the data from a database to non-sap systems using APIs and a third-party tool. Structure The open hub destination contains all the information about a data target: the type of destination, the name of the flat file or database table and its properties, and the field list and its properties. BI objects such as InfoCubes, DataStore objects, InfoObjects (attributes or texts), and InfoSets can function as open hub data sources. Note that DataSources may not be used as the source. Integration You can use the data transfer process to update data to the open hub destination. This involves transforming the data. Not all rule types are available in the transformation for an open hub destination: Reading master data, time conversion, currency translation, and unit conversion are not available SAP AG 3
Creating Open Hub Destination How to make us of Navigational Attributes. Follow the below steps Step 1: In the Modeling area of the Data Warehousing Workbench, choose the Open Hub Destination option. Step 2: In the context menu of InfoArea, choose Create Open Hub Destination. If no InfoArea, first create InfoArea and then create Open Hub Destination. Step 3: Enter a technical name and a description. Do not enter anything under Template. Press Enter 2011 SAP AG 4
Step 4: On the Destination tab page, select the required destination. I m selecting File as Destination Type. The server name will appear automatically. First you need create a Logical File Name using FILE transaction code. Enter the Logical File name in Appl.Server File Name. I am using pipe ( ) symbol as separator. Here I am not explaining how to create a logical file. Step 5: On the Field Definition tab page, enter the field names manually. You can make use of Infoobject Template. If CO_AREA and PROFIT_CTR fields are navigational attributes of SOLD_TO in cube and you wanted to make use of it, enter the fields in the Field Def as shown below. Step 6: Save and Activate the Open Hub Destination SAP AG 5
Step 7: Now create an Infoset on the Cube. This Cube is the main source of your Open Hub Destination. By creating Infoset you can utilize the navigational attributes of cube. Now Infoset contains navigational attributes of cube. You can also use the navigational attributes while loading in DTP. Press Enter. Infoset maintenance screen. Save and Activate the Infoset. Step 8: Now go to your Open Hub Destination and right click to create transformation. Select the Infoset option as object type and give the Infoset name which you created already under the source of the transformation. Press Enter SAP AG 6
Step 9: In the transformation maintenance screen you can see the navigational attributes from the infoset. This navigational attributes can be mapped to Open Hub Destinations. Save and activate the transformation. Step 10: Now create a DTP between Open Hub Destination and Infoset. You can see the navigational attributes in DTP. Save and Activate the DTP. DTP will allow only Full load. Step 11: You can load the data using DTP. Two files will be copied in application layer under the logical file path. One is control file with Meta data. Another file is data file. The data file will not have header line SAP AG 7
