37 BIBLID (2008) 97:1 p NATIONAL CENTRAL LIBRARY BULLETIN 2008 no.1 (2008.6) 61 Electronic Collection Development Policies in National Central Library Chiao-min Lin Hsueh-hua Chen Abstract The library collection scope has changed along with the information media enrichment. In accordance to the electronic resources appearance, the original collection development policies must give attention to the electronic resources. For the National Library, the strategies for developing electronic collections can be summarized as the policies of legal deposit, acquisition plan, web archiving, collection digitization and digital preservation. The paper takes an extensive literature review for understanding the different collection policies of electronic resources among many national libraries. In addition, in-depth interviews and panel discussions are pursued for realizing different opinions of experts and digital publishers. As the result, the conclusions and suggestions are proposed to provide suitable guidelines for the National Central Library.
