2 replace the existing files in your Art Bell Cam folder with the new files from either the ABcam.zip or ABcam.exe file. Your present shortcut will continue to work. Here is the link to download the Updated commercial free 'local' Art Bell Cam site zip file. Extract all files at once and it will create a folder named 'Art Bell Cam' containing the necessary files for the site. Read the Readfirst.txt in the ABcam.zip file for easy instructions before extracting the files. - only 61.8kb Below is a link for those who don't have a zip utility - such as Winzip. - only 90.9kb Open the ABcam.exe and on the panel that comes up press 'Unzip'. A folder will appear on your Desktop named 'Art Bell Cam'. Read the Readfirst.txt in the Art Bell Cam folder for easy instructions. Note: Art isn't fond of commercials either. If you would rather not express an opinion about the site as yet, then please just let us know if you have installed the program. This local site - if received well - can be just the beginning of a larger program. It can easily be updated to include other links and such by downloading a very small file. Members can make suggestions for improvements and if we like them we can add them to the program. We would certainly appreciate your input. There has recently been a lull in posting across the board. I never thought about Web TV users while putting this together. You're right - Web TV doesn't let you do much. Perhaps there is a way. I'm not familiar with Web TV, but you can click on links to move around on the Web correct? If so, I believe we can find a way for you to gain access to the same site that local users see except that it won't be local. The difference will be when each time the page reloads it will download every file on the page. At this stage of the game it probably won't make much of a difference, but later on if the program expands it will load much slower on Web TV because you will be downloading more files to your browser each time it Refreshes. I may try posting a link for Web TV users (keep an eye out). Is there a way for you to bookmark a site in Web TV? If you are going to try to help WebTVers, please note that our downloading capabilities are limited. When we get a file that's too large (I don't know the size) we are notified that the file is too large to download. This is not a problem, however, with websites. 4 Lou - posted 24 February :43 PM I put an Art Bell Cam site up on my site for you to try with your WebTV. Anyone can access this site if they want to see how it looks before installing the local site, but keep in mind that each time it refreshes (every two minutes) it has to download every image on the page so that makes it slower to reload (not so with the local site). With the local site those images appear instantly with the exception of the Cam image of course (since it has to download that). My only concern here is that if many people are accessing this site at once it may cause a problem. Let's find out. Let me know how (if) this works for you. If you would like the local site I think I may have a way for you to get it since with WebTV you can't download the larger files... Again, I'm not familiar with WebTV at all, but let's give this a try if you can do it - I have no idea if you can perform these functions. First, create a folder on your Desktop (or wherever you can - I don't even know if you have a Desktop) and name it "Art Bell Cam". (Those with a PC can do this for sure) Here's how: Click on the Desktop (or wherever) with the mouse button that brings up your menu and choose 'New' then Folder. Now while the folder name is highlighted type Art Bell Cam for the folder name. (note: if it?s not highlighted click on the folder name once, pause, and then click again) When the site comes up after clicking on the link above, go to the File menu and choose 'Save Page As or Save As'. In the [Save in:] window of the panel that comes up locate the folder you just created - Art Bell Cam - and press Save - this saves the Abcam.html file. Now using the mouse button that brings up your menu click on an image on the site (not the Cam image) and choose 'Save Image As'. Save ALL images except the Cam image to the Art Bell Cam folder. Drag the folder to wherever you want to store it and create a shortcut to the ABcam.html. I like the shortcut on my start menu. To create one there drag the ABcam.html to your Start button on the taskbar and release. Note: If you aren't able to get the Stars background image I can make it available. I recommend it to others. posted 24 February :26 PM, I was able to get the studio cam including the star background. I think I will also be able to get the rest. Both Windows Media and Real Player were not available until airtime so I won't know about that until the time comes. But I think it is going to work I'll work on the rest of your instructions as I can. Have to translate your terms to WebTalk. If you don't have a Real Player installed you can get one by going to this page. I put a link there for those who don't have the player - it's free. While you are there check out the page and enter your request. I believe the Windows Media player comes with windows - I'm not certain though. Even if you have those players you will get that message if you try to access the links before show time. There is a link on the page for downloading an interview by Art Bell of Jane Seymour.
