2 Streaming Radio Services Set SiriusXM BitRate Sets the bitrate for the SiriusXM streaming service. The default bitrate is 256kbps, however, it may be necessary in high latency and/or low bandwidth scenarios to reduce the bitrate used by the MMS for streaming SiriusXM music. 4 Spotify Plays a Few Seconds of a Track Then Skips to the Next Track Occasionally due to poor/intermittent network connectivity the Spotify music server may fail to retrieve the entire track. If this occurs, the MMS will advance to the next track. One option to resolve this problem is to modify the bitrate of the incoming tracks on Spotify. This is likely to improve the download reliability. To modify the Spotify bitrate, the following commands should be issued via telnet port 23 on the MMS : set spotify bitrate [96,160,320] For example to set the spotify bit rate to 96Khz the command would be: set spotify bitrate 96. 5 Configuring your MMS for Spotify Spotify credentials can be entered on the MMS Configuration webpage under the Content tab. Through Spotify, you may have setup your account in 1 of 3 ways: 1. Account created through the Spotify website with a regular login and password. 2. Account created through the Spotify website with a regular login and password and Facebook credentials were added later. 3. Account created through the Spotify website by logging in with Facebook. In methods #1 or #2 above, the MMS requires you to use your original Spotify UserID and Password when entering credentials on the MMS. Using Facebook credentials (i.e. an account) to access Spotify on the MMS is not supported. If your account was created with Facebook (#3 above), you will need to retrieve a UserID and Password, here is how: 1) Log into Spotify with your Facebook credentials 2) Select "Set Device password" on Spotify's website. * Note this option will ONLY appear on the menu if your account was created with Facebook credentials. 3) Make note of the Device Username that appears on screen 4) Click the "Send to Set Password" button 5) Retrieve the password from the account registered with Spotify 6) Enter the Device Username and Password on the MMS Configuring your MMS for Spotify 4

6 Google Drive Syncronization Updated: 12/16/2015 Category: Mirage Media Server Products: Mirage Media Servers MMS-2A, MMS-5A The Content tab of the MMS Config allows you to enter your account credentials for streaming media services and cloud services supported by the MMS. Your MMS can interface with Google Drive to synchronize music and playlists from multiple MMS systems across the cloud. Each MMS can be configured to (1) Copy content from the cloud (downsync) (2) Copy content to the cloud (upsync) or (3) both. In most circumstances, each MMS would be configured for both downsync and upsync. To enable this feature, enter a valid Google Drive user ID and password, and select the appropriate sync options for your circumstance. It may be advisable to use a separate Google account solely for the MMS sync; this will keep MMS content separate from the user's other files. Sync Functions: Each MMS performs a sync check with Google every 30 minutes. The synchronization process will create an Autonomic folder in the root of the account's Google Drive. Tampering with this folder or files may result in unexpected behavior. The MMS will first attempt to download all new tracks and playlists contained in the cloud which are not present locally. Once the download is complete, any tracks or playlists on the MMS which are not in the cloud will be uploaded. Playlist sync will work with local tracks. Any streaming content tracks (e.g. spotify tracks) contained in a playlist will be skipped. Tips: If you remove Google Drive credentials from an MMS, the tracks downsynced to that MMS from Google drive will be deleted. In other words, it will only retain songs which it originally contributed. If you manually delete a track from the Autonomic folder within Google Drive, it will be deleted from the MMS unless it was the original contributor of the track. Any tracks deleted in the cloud are moved to trash. In the event of an erroneous deletion, the data may still be recoverable. However, this behavior also means deleted files will occupy space on the cloud drive. It may be necessary to occasionally clear out the trash folder in order to free up space. 7 Connection timeout parameter for Streaming Services Displays or sets the timeout value for streaming services. It may be necessary in high latency and/or low bandwidth scenarios to increase the default timeout parameter used by MMS for streaming music services. This setting will affect any track-based service (e.g. Pandora, Rhapsody, Spotify, Deezer, Murphie, TIDAL). It will not affect stream-based service (e.g. SiriusXM, TuneIn) Syntax SetServiceRequestTimeout [integer arg1] Parameter Optional. 9 Disable Gracenote Displays or sets the value for the Gracenote feature. Gracenote is enabled by default to augment music metadata. 10 MMS - Supported TuneIn Stations The MMS supports playing most all RadioTime/TuneIn stations. The exceptions are: 1. Stations that only support the RealPlayer format. This is rare as many of them have migrated to Windows Media format. 2. Stations that are contractually disallowed by the provider for playback on devices. The most common example of this are the iheartradio stations owned by Clear Channel Communications. To add stations not currently available on the MMS, you must determine the station's stream URL. Once the stream URL is determined, navigate to the Content tab of the MMS Configuration page. The section for TuneIn Radio provides a button to add additional stations. Provide a name and station identifier for the station. Select Save to have the new station appear in TuneIn within the Local Radio section under additional stations. Finding the station's Stream URL can be very challenging. The general process includes: (1) Check the radio station's website for a "listen live" type of link or alternatively, you can check other public websites for an index of stream URLs. An example includes (2) Check the properties of the provided link for the stream URL. Most radio stations use Flash Players or obscure the URL, in which case the method above will not work. Suggested next steps include using a sniffer such as wireshark to try to ascertain the true URL. MMS - Supported TuneIn Stations 9

11 MMS - Login to Spotify with Your Facebook login In order to login with a Spotify account created via Facebook, one must create a username and password for devices. If you login to Spotify.com, select 'Edit Your Profile', and then Set Up A Username for Devices, you should be able to use that username and password combo on the MMS. 12 MMS - Spotify 'User is banned' Message When using Spotify, the message 'User is banned' may be received as a result of (1) an account being suspended or (2) the account not being a 'Premium' account. Spotify requires all accounts used on third party devices to be 'Premium' subscription level accounts. If you have an 'Unlimited' account, you will need to upgrade to the 'Premium' level account in order to login with our devices. If your account is suspended, you will need ot contact Spotify to resolve the issue. MMS - Spotify 'User is banned' Message 11

13 HeartBleed Bug and Online Services An encryption flaw called the Heartbleed bug is one of the biggest security threats the Internet has ever faced. The bug has exposed sensitive account information (such as passwords and credit card numbers) over the past two years across many popular websites and services. It is not completely clear which sites have been affected. It is good practice, from time to time, to change passwords for any/all online services. Now is a very reasonable time to do so! Even if one particular site you use is not affected, you may still be at risk if the same password was used at another affected site. From what we gather, Spotify accounts are likely at risk due to their integration with Facebook. Amazon has said their cloud services were affected and recommends users change their passwords. Pandora has said publically they are not affected. We are not aware of any other public statements by other streaming services, but more information may be forthcoming. Currently, Autonomic products include support for Pandora, Rhapsody, Slacker, TuneIn, Last.FM, Sirius XM, Napster and Spotify. Providers may limit the availability of their services in certain parts of the world for a variety of reasons and by a variety of methods - including technical and non-technical methods. This availability may change over time. Autonomic does not assist, endorse or support attempts to circumvent safeguards or restrictions which may be in violation of local laws, Terms of Use or our agreements with service providers. 15 Last.FM Ends music streaming services Informational Bulletin Date Issued: 4/1/2014 Last.FM Support and Availability Last.fm has announced immediate plans to end subscription music services on April 28th to focus on their music discovery and recommendation feature, scrobbling. Autonomic expects to continue to support scrobbling features but will remove Last.fm streaming radio services from future firmware versions. Last.FM Ends music streaming services 14

16 Streaming Services Updated: 11/1/2013 Category: Streaming Services Products: Mirage Media Servers MMS-2, MMS-2A, MMS-5, MMS-5A The MMS provides access to several online music services through your Internet connection, such as PANDORAÂ Internet Radio, RhapsodyÂ, Last.fm, SiriusXM Internet Radio, Spotify and TuneIn. Autonomic is constantly working with more content service providers to bring you even more of the best Internet-delivered media in future firmware updates. To keep your library organized, your MMS comes preloaded with software to install onto your Mac or PC that will automatically keep your music files and playlists synchronized with your server. This software can be downloaded from your server onto your computers once your MMS is setup on your home network. Whenever you purchase, download or copy new content onto your computer, the Mirage Media Sync software will automatically catalog it and send it to your MMS server for on-demand playback. You can also configure the MMS to stream content from your NAS device or other shared network storage for unlimited storage capabilities. Streaming Services 15

It is important to remember to press the Save button at the top of this tab after you are finished making any changes to this page. If you navigate away from this page without pressing Save, your changes will be lost. Most of your local radio stations will be already listed in the TuneIn Local Radio list on your MMS. However, certain broadcasters have not granted the TuneIn service permission to list their streaming services in the TuneIn database. You can manually add these stations to the local radio station listing in your MMS by using the Additional TuneIn Stations utility on the Content tab. To make this task easier for you, Autonomic has pre-loaded a large database of popular US radio stations that are not in the TuneIn database. To add one of these stations, click on the Add Station button and begin typing in the call sign or station description in the fields provided. If that station is in our database, you'll be presented with a list of potential matches. This service provides a directory of the world's radio stations that broadcast over the Internet. You'll likely find that many, if not all of your local AM and FM radio stations are available for crystal clear online streaming through your MMS without the need for an over the air antenna. You can also browse thousands of radio stations world-wide by genre or program name. Entering your TuneIn credentials and pressing the Save button will allow you to associate your MMS with your online TuneIn account so that you'll have easy access to your local radio stations and stored favorites. TuneIn allows you to listen to up to five simultaneous streams with a single user ID and password on the MMSÂ 5A, or two on the MMSÂ 2. Spotify is a music streaming service offering streaming of selected music from a range of major and independent record labels. Music can be searched by artist, album, genre, or playlists. You can even save searches as custom playlists. Most Spotify content is streamed at 320 kbps, which is one of the highest bitrates offered by streaming music services. To activate the Spotify service on your MMS, enter your Spotify user ID and password in the space provided, and press the Save button at the top of the page. Spotify allows for one stream per account. If the server is running firmware version 4.5, it will support multiple Spotify accounts. Spotify 20

Your Mirage Media Server can access your SiriusXM Radio subscription through your Internet connection eliminating the need for an external antenna or line of sight access to their satellite transmitters. While a single SiriusXM account can be used on any of the multiple MMS outputs, SiriusXM radio subscribers must provide one account ID and password for each simultaneous stream that you want to listen to on any of the audio outputs. SiriusXM will provide additional SiriusXM Internet Radio accounts for a reduced monthly fee. You can enter up to five (MMSÂ 5A) or two (MMSÂ 2) user IDs and passwords in this section. Rhapsody is a digital music service that allows you to listen all the music you want on the MMS and create your own cloud-based library from more than 13 million songs available for on-demand playback. You can browse or search music by Album, Artist, Genre, Popular Playlists, and the Rhapsody Music Guide that helps you find just the right content. Once you've found the content your looking for, use the Actions button on the Mirage Web Interface or your control system to add the Album, Artist, or Track to your virtual collection. To configure Rhapsody with your MMS, simply provide your user ID and password in the field provided, and press the Save button at the top of the screen. Rhapsody allows you to listen to up to five simultaneous streams with a single user ID and password on the MMSÂ 5A, or two on the MMSÂ 2. More information about Rhapsody can be found at Rhapsody 22

Pandora is a free service that lets you create custom radio stations based on albums or artists that you like, and will mix in other music that you haven't discovered yet. Subscribing to Pandora Plus will yield additional benefits on the MMS such as higher bitrate content, and no commercials during playback. Entering your Pandora credentials will let you associate your MMS with your online Pandora Internet Radio account. When valid credentials are supplied (remember to press Save at the top of the screen), all of your online Pandora radio stations will be available for playback on your MMS, and any new stations that you create on your MMS will be saved in your online account. You can create new Pandora radio stations using the Mirage Web Client, and most third party interfaces. Pandora Internet Radio 23

25 MMS TuneBridge technology allows you to create a new Pandora station based on a song you hear on any other service, or local music in your library. You can access this feature in the Actions menu of the Mirage Web Client and on most touch panel interfaces. Pandora allows you to listen to up to six simultaneous streams with a single user ID and password on the MMSÂ 5A, or two on the MMSÂ 2. The Last.fm music service is a unique service that let's you effortlessly keep a record of everything you listen to on your MMS and other devices. Based on your demonstrated taste, Last.fm recommends more music that you're likely to love. Entering your Last.fm credentials will let you associate your MMS with your online Last.fm account. Once this is done, you will see a Last.fm Scrobble button appear on the Mirage Web Client, the Mirage ios applications, and most MMS touch panel interfaces. This button lets you turn on and off the Last.fm music tracking technology. When "Scrobbling" is enabled, the MMS will send a log of the music you're listening to on the MMS (even in other services and local music) to your Last.fm account profile. This information will then be used by the Last.fm service and the MMS to recommend more music that you'll love. Last.fm can be played on any single output at one time. If you begin playing back a second Last.fm 25

29 icloud Synchronization Updated: 11/4/2013 Category: Mirage Media Server Products: Mirage Media Servers MMS-2, MMS-2A, MMS-5, MMS-5A The Content tab allows you to enter your account credentials for streaming media services and cloud services supported by the MMS. Apple's icloud service allows you to synchronize music stored on multiple computers and devices with your icloud account. This service is supported on the MMS with our Mirage Media Sync software. To automatically synchronize content with your icloud, configure icloud using itunes on a computer that will host the Mirage Media Sync software. Please note that only content that is downloaded to the Mac or PC will synchronize with the MMS. We recommend the following settings for the most seamless, hands-off experience: 1. Turn on itunes Match. This will allow you to synchronize content from other computers and devices, which will in turn be synchronized to the MMS via the Mirage Media Sync software. 2. Enable automatic downloads of Music purchases. This setting can be found under itunes Preferences, Store. 3. When configuring the Mirage Media Sync software, select the "Synchronize All Music" option. icloud Synchronization 28

30 Synchronizing Multiple Mirage Media Servers Updated: 11/4/2013 Category: Mirage Media Server Products: Mirage Media Servers MMS-2, MMS-2A, MMS-5, MMS-5A The Content tab allows you to enter your account credentials for streaming media services and cloud services supported by the MMS. Using the Amazon Cloud Drive, you can synchronize all of the content and playlists of multiple Mirage Media Servers located anywhere in the world. Simply put the same Amazon account information into each server that you want to keep synchronized, and select both copy options (copy to, and copy from). MMS synchronization does not require any one unit to be designated as the master. The server uses a sophisticated algorithm that accomplishes bidirectional synchronization with all locations. If you want to create a master/slave relationship between one master and one or more slaves, you can accomplish this by enabling only the "Copy To my Amazon Cloud Account" option on the server that you want to act as a master, and only the "Copy From my Amazon Cloud Account" on the server you want to act as a slave. Please note that you will not see or change the files synchronized to the Mirage Media Server's hard drive in the shared Music folder. These files are copied to a hidden location on the MMS in order to maintain the integrity of the synchronization. If you want to modify these files you must do so at the source, or on the Amazon Cloud Drive. Synchronizing Multiple Mirage Media Servers 29

Your MMS can interface with your Amazon Cloud Drive account to synchronize content to and from the cloud, and synchronize multiple locations. To enable this feature, enter you Amazon user ID and password, and select one or both options for copying content to or from the Amazon Cloud Drive. The MMS will synchronize all music files with the Amazon Cloud Drive, even those that are not compatible with the online Amazon Cloud Player (such as uncompressed FLAC or WAV files). These files will still be stored in your Amazon Cloud Drive and will be available for multi-location synchronization. Amazon Cloud Drive 30
