1 Quick Start Guide for Interlogix NetworX NX4, NX6 & NX8 Programming Code = 9713 Master User Code=1234 Program Mode= * To exit programming hit the Exit key until you reach the home screen If this is not a new panel then you will need to default the panel programming back to factory default by doing the following: Enter * Programming Code When it asks for Device Address enter 0 followed by # It will then ask for location. You will enter 910 and then # Press the Exit key to return to main screen If you are not using a brand new keypad that s never been used you will need to reset the one you have. This requires two keypads as you cannot reset a keypad from itself. To reset the desired keypad you will have to do the following: Enter into programming by typing * Programming Code You will see Device Address. Enter the keypad device number from the table below that corresponds to the keypad number then press # Keypad # Partition 1 Partition 2 Partition You will then be asked to enter location. Type #. You keypad will now be reset to default Press Exit twice

2 Step 1 Assign keypad number and partition Enter * Programming Code. The Service LED and the Instant LED will flash on the keypad that you are working on Now enter the keypad number (1-8) Now press the * key. The Instant LED will illuminate steady and the Service LED will remain flashing You will now enter the partition you want the keypad to be assigned to. The keypad will automatically exit the keypad programming after this Step 2 Set keypad options (For LCD Keypads) Enter * Programming Code. You will be presented with options, one at a time, that will enable/disable the functions for the keypad shown in the list below Press * after enabling/disabling the desired functions 1. Reserved. Do not program this. 2. Enable silent keypad option. Silences the entry/exit sounder and chime only. 3. Enable ding dong sound for chime. If off, chime is a single tone. 4. Enable keypress silence option. Silences the pulsing keypad sounder for 5 seconds when a key is pressed. 5. Enable armed status suppression. Will not allow the keypad to display faulted or bypassed zones when the system is armed. 6. Enable panic, fire, emergency beep tone. Sounds a short beep to verify that the keypress was accepted. 7. Suppress the Service LED. Will not allow the Service LED to light for any reason. If there is a system problem, pressing *2, shows the service menu. 8. Enable multiple partition viewing. Enable temporary viewing of all partitions by pressing *, 1, partition number. 9. Custom Message Enables or Disables Custom Message display 10. Clock Enable or Disable Clock display 11. Custom Message Lock - Enable Custom Message Lock. Prevents over-writing the custom message during keypad copy. 12. SELECT AN OPTION: Programs special characteristics. a. 1=Display Press * For Help b. 2=Disable LED Extinguish on this keypad c. 3=On if PIN should be hidden when programming d. 4=On suppresses beeps when an RF transmission is lost e. 5-8=RESERVED (Do not program!) Step 3 Set Time and Date Enter * Master User Code

3 You will then see the time and date displayed with the HOURS section flashing Use the up/down arrow keys to set the hour to AM or PM hour then press * to move to minutes Continue to set the time a date sections, using the up/down arrows, one at a time pressing * after each section to accept until the time and date are set to your preference. Then press # to exit back to main screen Step 4 Change Master and User Codes Enter *, 5, Master User Code. Your Ready LED will begin flashing. You will then enter in the three digit user code slot you d like to change ( ) You will then enter a 4-digit code for that user. The Ready light will then begin to flash again letting you know it was accepted. If it was rejected then you ll hear it beep 3 times. If you need to enter another code; repeat the process above. When finished; press # while the Ready LED is flashing Step 5 Enter Programming To enter into the panel s programming section you will enter * Programming Code You will then see Enter device address and then press #. The device address for panel programming is 0 You will then see Enter location, then #. Locations are programming sections and we will cover these below Step 6 (Location 42) Change Programming Code We recommend that you do this as any burglar could research the default codes for a system. To change the program (installer) code you will need to enter, when asked to enter location, 42 and then #. You will then be presented with Loc # 42 Segment #1. Each digit of the Programming Code is referred to as a segment. There are 6 segments in this location. You will only use 4. You will enter the first digit of your new Programming Code and then press * to advance to the next segment (digit). Continue to do this until you have entered in all 4 digits of your new Programming Code. You will then press * * to skip the last two segments. You will then press # to exit location 42 Step 7 Exit/Entry Delays (Location 24) You will now set you entry and exit delays for any doors. You will do this in program location 24. Location 24 has six segments. We will be focusing on only 4. When you enter this location you

4 will enter the first value in the first segment and then press * to move to the next segment. To exit; you will enter #. The four segments are as follows: Segment 1 Entry Time 1 ( seconds) Segment 2 Exit Time 1 ( seconds) Segment 3 Entry Time 2 ( seconds) Segment 4 Exit Time 2 ( seconds) Segments 5 & 6 are not used so you can just press * through these. Step 8 Zone Definition Programming (Locations 25 to 36) Zone definitions are programmed in locations 25 to 36. Depending on the model of Interlogix NetworX panel you have; the locations may differ. NetworX NX4 will only have Location 25. NetworX NX6 will have locations NetworX NX8 & NX8E will have locations Each location will correspond to a set of 8 zones. For instance Location 25 is zone definition programming for zones 1-8. You will then have the next location for assigning zones to different partitions. For example Location 26 is used to assign zones 1-8 to whatever partition you re using them on. Zones Partitions Location 25 = Zones 1-8 Location 26 = Zones 1-8 Location 27 = Zones 9-16 Location 28 = Zones 9-16 Location 29 = Zones Location 30 = Zones Location 31 = Zones Location 32 = Zones Location 33 = Zones Location 34 = Zones Location 35 = Zones Location 35 = Zones To program the zone definitions for each zone; you will go into each location and input a zone definition into the appropriate segment. After entering the definition you will press * to advance to the next segment. This is true with the partition locations as well. Each zone will be its own segment and there will be toggle options that can be turned on and off by pressing the corresponding number. These toggle numbers are the partitions. We recommend, for ease of programming, that you write your zone numbers down on a sheet of paper and then to the right of each zone number write its zone definition. That way you can just go down your list and type each number as you go. The common zone definitions are as follows: Hardwired & Wireless Zones Wireless w/ Tamper Supervision Zones 3 - Entry/exit delay Entry/exit delay 1 with tamper 9 - Entry/exit delay Entry/exit delay 2 with tamper 5 Interior follower with auto bypass 18 - Interior follower with tamper and auto bypass

5 6 - Instant 19 - Instant with tamper 8 - Fire Step 9 Wireless Device Programming Learning in wireless devices on a NetworX system is a little different than most alarm systems. If you have a receiver that is not brand new then you will have to set it back to default. You can do this by following the steps below: On your keypad type * Programming Code You will then be asked device address. We chose 33 as the receiver device address by setting the DIP switches in the receiver. So you d type, for instance, 33 + #. After entering the device address you ll be asked for location. You will then type #. Your receiver will now be at default. Press Exit twice. To learn in wireless devices; follow the steps below: 1. Outside of programming enter * Programming Code 2. You will then enter the address of your wireless receiver that you set when adjusting the receiver s DIP switches. You will then press # after entering the receiver number 3. Then you will type 0 + # to go into transmitter learning mode 4. The next step is to decide which zone your wireless device will go on. For instance you if you chose zone 9 you will type 9 + * to put the device on zone You will then see Enter Location # (0). 6. You will then learn in the wireless device by tripping the sensor, triggering the tamper by removing cover, or it or pressing a button depending on the device type.. You should hear a bing-bong sound if you were successful. 7. Repeat Steps 3 through 6 using a different zone number for each wireless device. 8. After you finish learning in all of your wireless devices press the Exit button twice to exit programming. Step 10 Keypad Panic Programming To activate the panic buttons for Police, Fire and Medical on your keypad you will do the following steps. These only need set if you have central station monitoring or a way to have the alarm send you notifications. From outside of programming type in * Programming Code You will then be asked for the device number. Type 0 and press #. You will then be asked for the location. Type 23 and #. This is done in segment 1 of location 23. You want to make sure that options 5, 6 and 7 are on. You will know that they are on because you will see the numbers being displayed. If they are not displayed then press

6 the corresponding numbers on the keypad to make them show up. The numbers correspond to the explanations below: o 5. On enables audible keypad panic. 6. On enables keypad aux 1 (fire panic). 7. On enables keypad aux 2 (emergency panic). Press * to move to the next segment. That will save the info you just changed Then press # to exit Step 11 Zone labelling To label zones so that they display the zone name on an alphanumeric keypad you will do the following: On your keypad type * Programming Code You will then see Enter message number then #. Choose the zone number you want to program a label for and press # You will then see the Zone number displayed on the first line and then it is repeated on the second line with a cursor under the first character. The controls for operation are: o * key - Move cursor to the right/accept character o Cancel key Move cursor to the left o Up arrow/down arrow Change character cursor is on o Stay key Insert Space o Chime key delete characters o Exit key Access NetworX vocabulary (Up/Down arrows choose words) When done editing the line, enter the [#] key to escape from the edit mode. Final - A note on resistors By default the Interlogix NetworX alarm systems require the use of resistors. We recommend that you use End-Of-Line resistors always as they provide a measure of supervision to each zone and help to prevent tampering on the zone. If for some reason you can t use resistors or don t want to (not recommendedrecommended) then you can shut the usage of resistors off in the NetworX programming. This is done by going into the Zone Type Characteristics locations and toggling off an option. Zone Type Characteristics Locations are as follows for each type of NetworX: Interlogix NX-4 = Locations (Pages in manual) Interlogix NX-6 = Locations (Pages in manual) Interlogix NX-8 = Locations (Pages in manual) Interlogix NX-8E = Locations (Pages in manual)

7 To turn off the use of resistors for each zone type you will go into the appropriate location. When entering each location; you will start out in segment 1. The option for turning off resistor usage is in segment 4. In segment 4 you will turn on option 2. This option is called End of Line Resistor Defeat. This will shut of resistor use for that particular zone type. For example if you wanted to turn off resistor usage for a Zone Type 3 (Entry/Exit Delay 1) you would follow the steps below: Type * Programming Code to enter programming At Choose device address # you will type 0 + # Then you will see Select Location # and you will type # You will then press * until you get to segment 4 At segment 4 you will press 2 to turn option 2 on if it is not already on. You will then press Exit + Exit to exit programing
