Applies To: SAP Exchange Infrastructure 3.0, SP 15, Integration Repository and Directory Summary This document describes how to create, store and execute a non static operating command script. In this concrete case the customer s requirement was to store files with the file adapter in a deep structure on a FTP server where the folder name contains e.g. the customer number, merchant id etc. and the folders have to be created by the SAP system. Due to the fact that the SAP Exchange Infrastructure implements standards, and in the case of the file adapter the specification RFC 959 for transport protocol FTP it is not possible to create this deep folder structure with the file adapter. This means that the file adapter will throw an error when you define the \4711\inbox\pakbon\02\871 in the field Target Directory if the directory \4711 does not exist. In other words: the specification RFC 959 and therefore the file adapter can create only one new subfolder under one existing folder. This does not affect the transport protocol NFS of the file adapter. The work around is the following: In a first scenario an ABAP proxy is called from a customer exit in the transaction of creating customers or with a background report. The proxy sends the necessary data (e.g. customer s number, unloading point, merchant id) to the XI. The script will be created command after command in the message mapping. The file adapter (message protocol NFS) stores the script in a folder on the XI server and calls this script (both steps in one communication channel). After creation of the folder in the first scenario the real business data will be transported in a second scenario. In this document I will show you the scenario to create the folder s structure; I will not show you the transport of the business data. 3 Integration Repository Data Types Outbound Data Type The outbound data type contains the necessary variables for the folder s names: 3
Inbound Data Type The inbound data type contains only 1 to unbounded command lines and one field for the filename: 4
Message Mapping In the Message Mapping a lot of constants are used to create the script. The first command of the script is the login name: 5
The second command is the password: After the login parameters the first system command is mapped. The command MKDIR (to create a new folder) with the parameter CustomerNumber coming from the outbound message is mapped to the command field: In the following a lot of commands are mapped. One of the last ones is: The last command of the script will be QUIT. After the script content the fields Customernumber, Ablad and Merchant separated by an underline will be concatenated to the field filename. The filename will be used in the Communication Channel to store the script only one per pair. 6
The whole script within the message for my requirement and solution looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <ns1:mt_systemcommand xmlns:ns1=" <Record><Command>myLogin</Command></Record> <Record><Command>myPassword</Command></Record> <Record><Command>as</Command></Record> <Record><Command>mkdir 4711</Command></Record> <Record><Command>cd 4711</Command></Record> <Record><Command>mkdir inbox</command></record> <Record><Command>mkdir inbox/pakbon</command></record> <Record><Command>mkdir inbox/pakbon/02</command></record> <Record><Command>mkdir inbox/pakbon/02/871</command></record> <Record><Command>quit</Command></Record> <Filename>4711_02_871</Filename> </ns1:mt_systemcommand> 7
Integration Directory The configuration in the Integration Directory is straight forward. As an overview of the most used objects the screenshot of the Receiver Determination is shown here: 8
The most interesting configuration is done in the Communication Channel The field Target Directory defines the folder where the script is stored, and the field File Name Schema contains a variable %scriptname% and the postfix.script (the next screenshot will show you the substitution of the variable %scriptname%) 9
In the table Variable Substitution is defined that the variable with the name scriptname (here without %) will be substituted by the content of the first field named Filename in the payload of the defined Message Type: This is the field which was mapped at last in the Message Mapping. This field contains the Customernumber, Ablad and Merchant separated by an underscore. 10
The most important command is included in the field Command Line of section Run Operation System Command After Message Processing. FTP s: <scriptname> <IP address> The command FTP opens a FTP session. The first parameter s: indicates that the FTP command should execute the following script. %F is a substitution for the absolute filename including path. The third parameter <IP address> stands for the FTP server (here ) on which the script should be executed. The rest of the configuration is straight forward. 11
As you can see with transaction AL11 on the XI system, the scripts are stored in the folder: The result of this solution is shown in the following picture: 12
Discussion If you say storage of the login name and password in a script is not very secure then you are right, but this is the way the customer did it for years. You can manage this problem by using permissions for the folder where the scripts are stored and for the authorized ftp user, e.g. a permission to create directories.
