4 1 System Requirements 1.1 Hardware Requirements Computer: this table lists the computer requirements. CPU Operating System RAM Available Hard Drive Space Other Intel Core i3 2.4GHz or above (3.2GHz is preferred) Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Embedded 2GB 20GB Windows Only: To use the software with Windows XP or Windows 7, User Account Control (UAC) must be disabled on the system and the software must be installed and run with an Administrator account. Camera: either web camera or IP camera can be chosen for your deployment. Recommended web cameras: TCIT Webcam Module, Logitech HD Webcam Model C910 and C920, Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000, Microsoft LifeCam Series A brightly lit, evenly illuminated, indoor Lighting requirements environment is required. Face detection distance Up to 7 meters at a camera resolution of 640x480. Recommended IP cameras: Model Vivotech, D-Link, Hunt, Basler, Axis, VigiLant, A-MTK, TCIT IPCam Lighting requirements A brightly lit, evenly illuminated, indoor environment is required. Face detection distance Up to 7 meters at a camera resolution of 800x600. 4

5 1.2 Software Requirements TCIT Media software installation requires the following software. Please refer to the Microsoft official website for each operating system respectively. Windows 7: Microsoft.NET Framework 4.0 or above Microsoft Visual C (x86) Windows XP: Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 and 4.0 Microsoft Visual C (x86) 5

6 1.3 Installation and uninstallation Installation Step 1: Download the TCIT Media software and extract the files to your computer. Step 2: Click the TCIT Media Setup folder. Step 3: Click setup.exe to start the installation process. Step 4: Click Next on the Welcome to the TCIT Media Setup Wizard page. Step 5: Click I Agree and Next on the License Agreement page. Step 6: Select the installation folder and click Next >. 6

7 Step 7: Click Next > to start the Installation. Step 8: TCIT Media installation is processing. Please wait for a few seconds. Step 9: TCIT Media has been successfully installed. Click Close to exit. Step 10: When installation is complete, you can locate the TCIT Media shortcut icon on your desktop. Step 11: When you start running the software, the UpdateSystem_win32 window will pop-up. If there s no new version to update, please click Stop Update. Uninstallation Step 1: Please go to Control Panel, and click Programs and Features. Step 2: Select TCIT Media and right click your mouse. 7

8 Step 3: Click Uninstall. Step 4: Please wait a few seconds for TCIT Media to be configured. 8

9 1.4 Software UI Introduction Function List Identification screen A blue frame represents male. A red frame represents female. A white frame represents neutral gender. The upper left corner indicates the ID number, attention/dwell time, and the age range. Real-time log The same color (up to eight colors are available) indicates that the same person has been previously detected. 9

10 2 Feature Definition Face detection and counting Age estimation Gender estimation Attention time Viewer distance Uses pattern detection to log and analyze the demographics of the people who see the visual messaging. Counts and reports the age and age range of detected persons. Counts and reports the gender of detected persons. Detects how long each detected viewer looks at a message. Detects and estimates the distance between each detected viewer and the camera. 2.1 Function and parameter specifications Click File on the function list and select Exit to stop the software. Click Active on the function list and select the item that you want. 10

11 Feature Action Start Capture Starts the camera capture. Face Detect Detects faces shown on the screen. Estimate Estimate age and gender. Output Log Export log file. Face Filter Shows a mosaic of the faces on the screen. Default setting: Start Capture, Face Detect, Estimate, Output Log are selected. Click Option on the function list and select Detect Option. The parameter setting window will pop-up. (Please refer to page 16 for parameter definitions.) 11

12 Parameter Specifications Parameter Definition and Description Scale Default OTS 1 Count (1/10 seconds) Viewer 2 Count (1/10 seconds) Face Size Attention Discard (1/10 seconds) Face Interval Frame Detect Interval Determines the opportunity-to-see by setting up a minimum viewing time Determines a qualified viewer by setting up a minimum viewing time The minimum face resolution to be detected The allowable time to determine a non-view The allowed tolerance of distance between viewers. The smaller the value, the closer the distance between two faces that can be detected, and vice versa. The parameter is to set to the number of frames between each identification. The default setting of 5 means 5 frames between each identification. The larger the value, the lower the loading time, but with a slower refresh on screen. 1 OTS stands for opportunity-to-see. In terms of TCIT Media, OTS is used for defining the audience that has been detected with/without age/gender estimation. 2 Viewer is used for defining the audience whose age/gender has been estimated and viewing time is sufficient. 12

13 Click Option on the function list and select Log Option to set the range of age. 14 Click Start Minimum in the list of Option functions, TCIT Media will be minimized to the toolbar when running. Click Option on the function list and select Output Log Data to export the log. Click Option on the function list and select Reload Camera List to refresh the camera list. 14

15 Click Output Path on the function list and select Log Path to assign the output folder. Click FTP on the function list and select Auto Upload Setting, then choose FTP1 to set up auto upload time and address. 15

16 Click FTP on the function list and select Manual Upload to upload the real-time log. Click Devices on the function list to select webcam or IP Cam and choose the resolution. If you select IP CAM, the IP Cam setting window will pop-up. Please enter URL without 16

17 3 Export 3.1 Text log file Export log to four files: The Event log includes all viewers within the designated time fame. (1) Event_BOX_IDDyyyymmdd: event log of the day. (2) Event_BOX_IDHyyyymmdd_hh: event log prior to the time of the day.
