1 (1) - Preparation If possible before restoring a RipNAS copy the music files (and other personal data) to an external drive. Connect the RipNAS to a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Insert the RipNAS Rescue disc into the RipNAS and power on the RipNAS. If ISOLINUX is not loading, please reboot again.

3 (3) - Preparation The first RESCUE disc will be ejected automatically, insert now the disc RipNAS WHS Connector and click on the CD icon. You can see and select now the image (top right), then click Next >

4 (4) Restoring the System In most cases the system only has to be restored. Please select the SYS partition and click on Next >

5 (5) Restoring the System Select the 0 Active SYS (C) partition and click on Next >

6 (6) Restoring the System Please select Active and click on Next >.

7 (7) Restoring the System Select Yes Please and click on Next >.

8 (8) Restoring the System Select Replace with the Master Boot Record... and click Next >

9 (9) Restoring the System Select Yes. Check the file system intergrity at reboot and click Next >

10 (10) Restoring the System It takes between 5 and 10 min to restore the image on the partition. When finished (restored successfully message shown), press Cancel to reboot RipNAS, if restoring the Data drive also select < Back

11 (11) Restoring the Data Please follow first steps 1 to 3. If you also want to restore the Data partition (folder structure), select DATA (F:). Please be aware, that the folders will be empty (all music files will be deleted).

12 (12) Restoring the Data Select the 1 Primary DATA (D:) partition and click on Next >

13 (13) Restoring the Data Select the Primary and click on Next >

14 (14) Restoring the Data IMPORTANT: Move the slider to the MAXIMUM available disk space and click on Next > ** When restoring D: not C: **

15 (15) Restoring the Data Select Yes Please and click Next >

16 (16) Restoring the Data Select Replace with the Master Boot Record... and click Next >.

17 (17) Restoring the Data Select Yes. Check the file system intergrity at reboot and click on Next >

18 (18) Restoring the Data Click on Finish. Restoring will take between 5 and 10 min.

19 (19) Last steps in Windows Home Server On restart, press Control + Alt + Delete, there is no password, select Ok to log on. It is likely Windows will require activation, connect a network cable and type the COA key (as found stuck to the underside of RipNAS).

20 (20) Last steps in Windows Home Server When logged onto Windows, select Alt + F4 to close this Welcome window. Wait for 5 minutes until Windows requests that it restarts, when restarting make sure a network cable is connected to RipNAS. Log in as before and when the above screen is shown click the -> button, specify a password for RipNAS: ripnas= (where is the serial number), enable automatic updates.

21 (21) Last steps in Windows Home Server If you have 2 hard drives, open the WHS Console and add the second HDD (select the default increase your storage space option). For any computers on the network, re-install the Connector software to connect to the new RipNAS image.
