2 Installing the UnixWare Software Package Installing the UnixWare Software Package CAUTION: If you use the DELETE key to stop the UnixWare installation at any time during this process, you will have to restart the software installation process at Step 1. Preparing the System To prepare the system: 1. Verify the CMOS settings. 2. Verify the HOST adapter settings. 3. If you have a MAP/100P or a MAP/40P, verify the MDAC settings. 4. Clean Hard Disk Drive 0. Continue, press PAGE DOWN. Installing the UnixWare Package - 2 Issue 2
3 Installing the UnixWare Software Package Starting the Unixware Installation To start the Unixware installation: 1. Insert the diskette labeled Lucent Intuity UNIX Boot Floppy 1 of 2 into the diskette drive. 2. If the system is off, turn it on using the power switch. If the system is on, reboot the system. The system displays the SCO UnixWare introduction screen as it begins to load the base system software. When the system is done with the first boot diskette, it displays the following message: Insert second floppy and press ENTER. 3. Remove the diskette labeled Lucent Intuity UNIX Boot Floppy 1 of 2 from the diskette drive. 4. Insert the diskette labeled Lucent Intuity UNIX Boot Floppy 2 of 2 into the diskette drive. 5. Press ENTER. The system displays the following message: Please wait while the system software drivers are loaded. The system then displays the SCO UnixWare 2.1 Screen. Continue, press PAGE DOWN. 4 Installing the UnixWare Software Package 6. Select: Install/Upgrade UnixWare 2.1 The system displays the Remove Floppy Screen. 7. Remove the diskette labeled Unixware for Intuity Boot Floppy 2 of 2 from the diskette drive. 8. Press ENTER. The system displays the Introduction Screen. NOTE: If the system displays a message that the system must have at least 60 MB of space in the hard disk drive to install UNIX, there is a problem with the hard disk drive. The cable may not be connected, or the hard disk drive may be damaged. Power down the system and check the hard disk drive cables. Continue, press PAGE DOWN. 5 Installing the UnixWare Software Package Setting Up the Keyboard To setup the keyboard: 1. Starting at the Introduction Screen, press ENTER. The system displays the Keyboard Setup Screen. 2. Press the LEFT ARROW key and RIGHT ARROW key to move through the field selections. 3. Select U.S. ASCII. 4. Press the DOWN ARROW key to move to the Apply field and press ENTER. The system displays the Configure Date and Time Screen. Continue, press PAGE DOWN. Installing the UnixWare Package - 5 Issue 2
6 Installing the UnixWare Software Package Configuring the System Date and Time To configure the system date and time: 1. Starting at the Configure Date and Time Screen, press the LEFT ARROW key and RIGHT ARROW key to move through the field selections. Press the DOWN ARROW key to move to the next field. 2. Select the appropriate data for each field. 3. Press the DOWN ARROW to move to the Apply field and press ENTER. The system displays the Continent Location Choice Screen. Continue, press PAGE DOWN. 7 Installing the UnixWare Software Package Choosing the Continent Location To choose the continent location: 1. Starting at the Continent Location Choice Screen, press the LEFT ARROW key and RIGHT ARROW key to move through the field selections. NOTE: If you are outside the United States, choose US/Eastern for this field. 2. Select the appropriate data for each field. 3. Press the DOWN ARROW key to move to the Apply field and press ENTER. The system displays the Installation Type Selection Screen. Continue, press PAGE DOWN. Installing the UnixWare Package - 7 Issue 2
8 Installing the UnixWare Software Package Choosing the Installation Type To choose the installation type: 1. Starting at the Installation Type Selection Screen, press the LEFT ARROW key and RIGHT ARROW key to move through the field selections. Press the down arrow to move to the next field. 2. Select MAP/5P, MAP/40P or MAP/100P for the Platform Type: field. 3. Select RAID, SCSI, or IDE for the CPU Configuration: field. 4. Select INTUITY AUDIX for the Offer Type: field. 5. Press the DOWN ARROW key to move to the Apply: field. 6. Press ENTER. Continue, press PAGE DOWN. Installing the UnixWare Package - 8 Issue 2
9 Installing the UnixWare Software Package Setting the Hard Disk Drive Partitions and Slice Sizes To set the hard disk drive partitions: 1. Starting at the Set the Hard Disk Partitions Screen, type 1 and press ENTER. The system displays the Set Slice Sizes Screen. 2. Enter 1 The system displays the Insert CD-ROM Screen. 3. Insert the Intuity AUDIX CD into the CD drive. 4. Press ENTER. The system then displays the Continue Installation Screen. 5. Press ENTER. The system then displays the Verifying Installation Screen. After approximately 30 minutes the system displays the Copying Files Screen. The system then automatically reboots and displays the console login prompt. 6. Continue with the next procedure, Installing the Platform Software. Procedure completed. Installing the UnixWare Package - 9 Issue 2

If you have never installed UnixWare before, it is recommended that you press the F1 (or? ) key now to learn more about the installation process and the hardware requirements of UnixWare. -Pressing the F1 (or? ) key at any time during installation will display more information or help. -Pressing the Del key at any time cancels the installation. You may select alternate keyboard types by using the left and right arrow keys and then press the ENTER or RETURN key. 14 Configure Date and Time Screen Configure Date and Time Screen Unixware Installation Configure Date and Time On this screen, you will check the current date and time that is set on your computer and change them if necessary. You also select what timezone configuration you require. Either set a continent(s) which will lead you onto a further screen with locations or manual entry for a custom timezone. The current date: The current Time: Enter the current year: Enter the month of the year: Enter the day of the month: Enter the hour of the day: Enter the minute of the hour: Timezone configuration: Apply Reset Press TAB to move the cursor between fields. To go back to the continent screen select BACK ONE SCREEN. Use the left and right arrow keys. Location: Apply Reset Press TAB to move the cursor between fields. 16 Set the Hard Disk Partitions Screen Unix System Installation Set the Hard Disk Partitions Screen Set Disk Partitions Please select whether you would like the recommended disk partitions or would like to customize the disk partitions. The recommended disk partitions are 100% Unix partitions for all disks on the system. WARNING: PROCEEDING PAST THIS SCREEN MAY DESTROY ALL THE DATA CURRENTLY ON THE DISKS! Your choices are: 1. Recommended Disk Partitions (100% UNIX partitions) 2. Customize Disk Partitions Press 1 or 2 followed by ENTER : Installing the UnixWare Package - 16 Issue 2

20 Continue Installation Screen Continue Installation Screen UnixWare Installation Continue Installation The Intuity AUDIX CD-ROM has been inserted correctly. Next the hard disk will be checked for defects and the file systems will be created. Then the Intuity AUDIX Image will be copied to the hard disk and the system will be rebooted. Do not remove the Intuity AUDIX CD-ROM until prompted to do so. This will take at least one hour. Please wait Press ENTER to continue. Installing the UnixWare Package - 20 Issue 2
