1 PS IMAGO Portal 4.0 /// installation instructions Installing PS IMAGO Portal on Windows PS IMAGO Portal was designed to maximally simplify the installation process, transferring the system to other platforms and managing this environment. Therefore, one setup program installs all components of the system. It is suggested to install PS IMAGO Portal on Windows system using the local (or domain) Administrator account or any account with administrative rights. In this case please rightclick on pslauncher.exe program and choose Run as Administrator. The pslauncher.exe program, which initializes the suitable setup process, can also be run automatically when you insert the installation media of PS IMAGO Portal to DVD drive. Below there is a description of installation PS IMAGO Portal solution that take a place in Windows system. Installation process When pslauncher.exe is started then the main menu of the installation program appears. To start the installation process click the button PS IMAGO Portal and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen. 1. Installer welcome splash screen This option runs the proper setup program of PS IMAGO Portal solution. This is ps_imago_ portal.exe file that is located in the Installation_files folder. If launcher fails for some reason, then you can simply run this setup program (with administrative rights) from this location. Using Windows Explorer, browse to DVD drive and Installation_files folder, right-click on ps_imago_portal.exe file and choose Run as Administrator item from displayed dropdown menu. The installation process unpacks files from an archive, and then it displays the first screen of the installation wizard. Press Next button to start the installation.

2 2 2. PS IMAGO Portal installation wizard The next step presents information about all components installed with PS IMAGO Portal. 3. Components used by PS IMAGO Portal In the third step, the user must read and accept terms of the license agreement of PS IMAGO Portal. Full text of the product license is also available in the PS_License_Agreement.pdf document, located on DVD in License_Agreement folder. Start the installation of PS IMAGO Portal (and all its components) is dependent on reading the contents of the license and accepting its terms. The agreement must be confirmed by pressing Accept button. 4. PS IMAGO Portal License Agreement You must also accept the associated license agreements for other components. These components are installed as part of PS IMAGO Portal solution.

3 3 5. Licenses for other components The next installer step displays the dialog Choose Install Location. In this window you should specify the path to the installation folder in which all components of PS IMAGO Portal solution will be installed. Remember that additional subfolders will be created in the specified folder. However, it is suggested to leave the default location. 6. Choosing installation folder PS IMAGO Portal needs a database repository for operating. The role of the repository for the solution is provided by MySQL database system. PS IMAGO Portal applications communicate with the database using a special database system account. It is created during the installation process. Authorization information concerning the database system account is encrypted in the application code. But to install MySQL database system other administration account (root) is necessary to use. During the installation, the setup asks for the password for the database administrator account. 7. Password for database administrator Password of database administrator account should be safely saved, because it can be helpful in cases of technical problems, which will be required to obtain the information stored in the database.

4 4 The next step presents summarized information about the installed components. The pre-configuration of the installed PS IMAGO Portal system ends with a small summary of installed components. The fundamental installation process can be run now. 8. Summary of the installation When you press the Install button the installation starts. Further steps of the setup program performs independently. Please be patient, because the full installation of the solution may take up to a several minutes. During this time a various windows can appear with the information about a progress of the installation of different components. The installer also configures the services of the solution components and make them run automatically. Apache HTTP Server is installed as first. It will operate as a web server. During the installation of this component, the setup checks for free ports. Apache HTTP Server takes default port 80. It is typical port for all web servers on which they are listening to. If this port is already occupied by other service, the next proposed port is 81, and then In case of the absence of free ports, the setup leaves the decision of choosing appropriate port to administrator. 9. Checking for free www ports During the installation there are different window with information about the progress of the installation of the components comprising the individual solutions. 10. Installation and configuration of solution components The setup program also configures the services of installed components and it makes them run automatically. 11. Running services of PS IMAGO Portal solution During the installation the administrator has an ability to track a list of the operations carried out by the setup program.

5 5 The installer completes the installation process by asking you to restart Windows system. It is necessary for proper operation of the solution. If it is not possible to reboot Windows system at the end of the installation process, you should do it later. 12. Asking for system reboot after the installation After the installation, new services appear on the list of Windows services (Apache 2.2, MySQL 5.6). They are necessary for the functioning of the entire solution. Therefore, the startup type of these services is set to automatic. After restarting the Windows operating system the PS IMAGO Portal is ready to work. 13. Services required for running PS IMAGO Portal Additionally, in the notification area on the Windows taskbar a new icon appears (Icon Tray). It represents Apache Server Monitor, and its running status. Clicking on the icon will open the monitoring application. Using this application it is possible to stop, start and restart Apache service, if it is necessary. 14. Apache Service Monitor

6 6 Uninstalling PS IMAGO Portal on Windows The best way to uninstall PS IMAGO Portal is to use a special uninstaller. The setup creates a shortcut to the uninstaller program in PS IMAGO Portal application group. Other possibility is using regular Windows uninstaller. In Windows Control Panel choose Program and Features and select PS IMAGO Portal item on the list of installed programs. Press the Uninstall/Change button which is above the list. Uninstallation should be performed on the account with administrative privileges. 15. Uninstalling PS IMAGO Portal Pressing Uninstall button in the first dialog starts removing the solution together with all its components from Windows system. Attention! The uninstaller removes all components of the PS IMAGO Portal solution like files, folders and other information related to. Therefore, you should protect your own information stored in folders and in MySQL database, e.g. by copying them to other location before starting the uninstaller of PS IMAGO Portal. 16. Uninstalling all components of PS IMAGO Portal After uninstalling of PS IMAGO Portal it may be necessary to restart Windows system. 17. Asking for system reboot after the uninstallation

7 7 Installing and uninstalling on Linux PS IMAGO Portal is a solution that can be installed on Linux. But the installation of the solution in this system is different than in Windows. First, the distribution package does not contain all required components. System administrator is responsible for collecting and making the installation of all components listed on the list of system requirements. Secondly, the installation requires a lot of additional administrative tasks, which can be performed only by an administrator with advanced knowledge. It is suggested to make the installation of PS IMAGO Portal on Linux system together with the technical support of Predictive Solutions. The installation is best done when using the account with complete administrative privileges (root). Installation starts from copying the archive of the installer to the Linux file system. Archive which consists the installation files is located on DVD installation media in /Installation_files/ Linux directory. Archive file (ps_imago_portal.tar.gz) must be unpacked in the selected location using the command: tar xfz ps_imago_portal.tar.gz Unpacking the archive will create a structure which contains different files. Among them there is also a script starting proper installation. The next step of the installation is just to run the installation script setup.sh from the system command line../setup.sh 18. Running installer on Linux In the first step, the installer presents a license agreement. It is displayed when pressing any key. The word accept must be entered to accept the conditions of the license agreement and continue the installation of PS IMAGO Portal. 19. Acceptance of license terms and list of required components In further steps, the installer shows the system requirements and packages required for installing the product of PS IMAGO Portal. Then the installer asks questions related to the

8 8 installation process. One of them is about the password for the MySQL database administrator account (root). It is necessary for creation of database and form making its structure which are used by the installed solution. 20. Progress of PS IMAGO Portal installation Other steps of installation process are fully automatic. This is done by calling an appropriate configuration scripts. Several scripts are working in the background and perform variety of operations e.g. some SQL scripts prepare database structure. Uninstalling the system relies on manual removal of files and folders copied during the installation of PS IMAGO Portal and on the removal of the database ps_imago_portal. Checking portal after installation You can check PS IMAGO Portal solution after the installation. Make sure that operating system was rebooted after the installation and two services: web server (Apache 2.2) and database (MySQL56) are started. To check website open the web browser and in the address bar enter the address of the host (URL) on which PS IMAGO Portal was installed, like in the example below: [port]/ (e.g. where: host network name or IP of the computer, on which PS IMAGO Portal is installed port port number on which web service is listening If the service of the web server uses port number 80 (this is a default port), then the port can be omitted in the URL address. If the browser is running on the server on which the installation was made, you can use localhost name instead a network name of the computer. 21. Logging in to PS IMAGO Portal During the installation, the setup program creates also two unlocked user accounts. One of them has an administrative privileges. For the first logging in use this account. In the Logging in window please enter the following authorization data: Password: admin@pvss.pl PredictiveSolutions1

9 9 During the first logging in, the system forces the password change for this login pvss.pl), and also presents the criteria of the password complexity. The password for the user with normal privileges is the same and also needs to be changed when you first logging in using this account. Attention! Built-in accounts should be used only for purposes of first tests and for beginning work with PS IMAGO Portal. For safety reasons these two accounts should be blocked (or deleted) immediately after the creation of other administrative account. For more information on administration and using of PS IMAGO Portal system see the documentation. It is located in Help\Portal directory on DVD installation media (PS_IMAGO_ Portal_Administrator_Guide.pdf, PS_IMAGO_Portal_User_Guide.pdf). PS IMAGO Portal system requirements PS IMAGO Portal is an original system of Document Management System (DMS) class. It also uses components of public technology, made available under GNU General Public License. Among the technological components, used in the PS IMAGO Portal, are: z Apache HTTP Server 2.x (currently Apache ) with built-in PHP language interpreter z MySQL 5.x database engine (version: MySQL Community Server (GPL)) z PHP 5.x engine (currently version ) All of these components are referred to AMP platform (LAMP on Linux and WAMP on Windows). In the installer for Windows platform provided by Predictive Solutions there are all of the components listed above. But the end user can also use his own (previously installed) instances of the Apache, PHP and MySQL systems to install the PS IMAGO Portal solution. The PS IMAGO Portal solution also uses JavaScript jquery scripting libraries. Communication with PS IMAGO Portal system is done by standard HTTP protocol. But it is possible to use safe HTTPS. The clients of the system are web browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome), dedicated to the recipients of analytical reports, and PS IMAGO Designer application. It is suggested to use the newest versions of web browsers to work with the system. PS IMAGO Designer application, tool for analysts and designers of the reports, also connects to the system via HTTP, it reads the business structure of the system repository and forwards the report files to the repository, together with metadata needed for proper presentation of analytical reports on the portal. Currently, the installation of PS IMAGO Portal system is possible on Windows and Linux. All versions of Windows (XP, Vista, 7 i 8.x, 2008, 2012) and popular Linux distributions are supported.
