3 Epson Moverio Admin Functions Epson Moverio Admin comes with the following functions. Importing data to BT-350s in a batch Managing the BT-350 by group and name By using a Windows computer and the Quint Controller Dock (BO-QC350), you can perform data communication while charging your BT-350. By using four docks, you can handle up to 20 BT-350s. You can manage by setting group names or user names for the connected BT-350s. "Managing Registered Devices (Administrator Only)" P. 25 Check the status of the BT-350 Performing Kitting in a Batch of BT-350s In the [Device status] area, you can check the status of the connected BT-350s at a glance. Since you can sort devices according to the amount of charge in the device, you can prioritize BT-350s with more charge remaining in their batteries. Also, all registered BT-350s are displayed, and you can check whether or not a device is docked on the screen at a glance. 4 Software License Agreement Seiko Epson Corporation (hereafter, our company ) and the user of this software (hereafter, the customer) enter into the following license agreement for this software. Article 1 (Rights of Use) The customer may only install and use this software on their own computer. Article 2 (Prohibited actions such as Transferring or Lending the Software) 1. The customer is prohibited from transferring (trading, donating, or exchanging) or lending the right to use this software as conferred in Article 1 to a third party without prior written approval from our company. 2. The customer is prohibited from renting this software, quasi-renting, or selling it second hand. Article 3 (Period) 1. This agreement is valid from the moment the customer begins using this software. 2. The customer can terminate this agreement by relinquishing any software, manuals, and copies provided by our company, and by sending written proof of cessation of usage to our company. Article 4 (Upgrading) 1. Our company reserves the right to make changes to this software for the sake of improvement without providing prior notification to the customer. 2. Our company will provide repair or free software version upgrades (hereafter, upgrades) for the sake of improving the software. 3. Customers who receive upgrades lose the right to use this software and will be covered under the new agreement for the latest upgrade. Article 5 (Disclaimer) 1. Our company cannot accept any responsibility for damage caused through the use of this software. Make sure you backup any important files. Even if the customer uninstalls this software, immunity from responsibility is still applied. Furthermore, we do not guarantee the integrity, accuracy, certainty, or usefulness of the content of this software and this service. 2. The customer assumes full responsibility and costs incurred for installing this software, as well as for using this service, and our company cannot guarantee the integrity, accuracy, and so on. 3. According to the terms of use for this software, the customer uses this software under their own judgments and responsibility. 4. There are times when customer information or customer related data may be lost due to device malfunctions, problems, blackouts, errors in the communication lines, and system faults due to acts of God. Our company cannot accept any responsibility for the disappearance, loss, or delay of customer information or customer related data caused by these situations. 5. Our company cannot guarantee that transmitted files have not been infected by a computer virus. Our company cannot accept any responsibility for loss or damage that occurs due to a transmitted file being infected by a computer virus. Article 6 (Support period) 1. One year after ending sales and distribution of this software, our company will end support for this software. 2. When selling and distributing an upgraded version, sales and distribution for older versions of this software end unless they need to be continued for extenuating circumstances. One year after ending sales and distribution of this software, support will also end for this software. Article 7 (Prohibiting Changes and so on to this Software) The customer is prohibited from changing, adapting, reverse engineering, reverse compiling, disassembling, and so on this software for any reason. Article 8 (Copyrights) Our company or the licensor owns all intellectual property rights, such as copyrights, related to this software. This software is protected under the Japanese Copyright Act and other related laws. The customer must treat this software as they would any other copyrighted works. Article 9 (Others) The customer is prohibited from exporting this software or a copy of this software outside Japan by any means or purpose. Article 10 (License Agreement) Our company reserves the right to change the content of this agreement without prior notice to the customer. Article 11 (Jurisdiction) For any disputes that occur in relation to this agreement, the customer and our company agree that the first hearing for legal determinations will be made by the courthouse having jurisdiction over the area in which the headquarters of our company resides. 4
5 Before Installing To use Epson Moverio Admin, you need a Windows computer, BT-350s, and the Quint Controller Dock. Devices Necessary to use Epson Moverio Admin This software is for Windows computers. It cannot be used on computers with other operating systems. This software is not guaranteed to work with all BT-350s or Windows computers. It may not work correctly depending on the specifications and operating system version being used. This software may not work correctly when the operating system for the Windows computer is upgraded. Before upgrading your operating system, check the MOVERIO BT-350 technical information Web site ( Windows Computer BT-350 Controller (With USB attachment and Magnet case) Quint Controller Dock (You can connect up to four docks) 5
6 Before Installing Checking the Computers System Operating Requirements Epson Moverio Admin operates with computers that meet the following specifications. OS Windows 7/8.1/10 CPU Memory Intel Core i5 or faster * For PCs using Intel Haswell or later CPUs, the number of USB devices that can be recognized may be limited. 4 GB or more Installing Drivers The connected BT-350s may not be displayed as Portable Devices in My Computer. In this situation, download and then install the target driver from the following link. Intel USB driver Screen resolution Free space on HDD USB port 1280 x 768 dots or more 1GB or more Ports for charging/synchronizing devices: USB A connector female (USB 2.0*) * For the USB 3.0 port, the number of USB devices that can be recognized may be limited. * USB 1.1 can be used, although the data communication transfer rate may be slow. * You need the Quint Controller Dock (BO-QC350) in order to connect. Others.NET Framework 4 SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 (Installed automatically when the software is installed.) * Make sure you install the necessary Android drivers to connect BT-350s to your computer in advance. 6
7 Checking BT-350 Settings Before Installing USB Connection Settings D Check that [Media device (MTP)] is selected. Check that the "USB computer connection" is set to "Media device (MTP)". A Select [ ] from the Apps list. B Select [Storage] in [Device]. C Select [USB computer connection] from [ ] at the top-right of the screen. 7
8 Before Installing USB Debugging Settings The USB debugging mode must be enabled to acquire BT-350 information when it is connected by USB. We recommend disabling the USB debugging mode when connecting to a device other than the computer for management. A Select [ ] from the Apps list. B Select [Developer options] in [System]. C Check that [USB debugging] is enabled. 8
9 Installing the Software Installation Method Before installing, download Epson Moverio Admin from the MOVERIO BT-350 technical information Web site ( C Follow the on-screen instructions to continue with the installation. A The screen on the left is displayed when you double-click the "setup.exe" file in the folder created when you de-compress the downloaded file. Click [Next]. B Select the folder in which Epson Moverio Admin is installed. If nothing needs to be changed, click [Next]. D Installation is complete. Click [Close] to complete the installation. When installation is complete, the [Epson Moverio Admin] icon is displayed on the desktop. The program may not run correctly if the software is installed in any folder other than the default folder. Do not install to the Programs folder. Installing.NET Framework 4 and SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 To run Epson Moverio Admin, you need to install.net Framework 4 and SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 from Microsoft. When installing Epson Moverio Admin for the first time, installation dialogs for the programs mentioned above may be displayed. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software. 9
10 Installing the Software Uninstalling If you do not need Epson Moverio Admin, log in to your computer as an Administrator, and then delete in the following operation. A Click [Epson Moverio Admin] in [Programs and Features] from the Control Panel, and then select [Uninstall]. B Select [Yes] on the confirmation screen. Uninstalling may take a few minutes. When uninstalling is complete, the desktop icon is deleted. Even after uninstalling, the "Epson Moverio Admin" folder (created in document folder by default) created when installing is not deleted. Old setting information is saved in the folder and is imported if the software is installed again. To remove this information completely, you need to delete this folder. 10
11 Types of User Epson Moverio Admin has two types of user with different administration rules. Administrator (One user) User (Up to five users) Synchronizing files Checking the status Checking connections Installing applications Operating system (system software) update Setting device names Setting group names Setting user names Editing user information Setting synchronization folders 11
12 Basic Operations Starting the Epson Moverio Admin Follow the steps below to start Epson Moverio Admin. A Connect the dock and the computer as shown in the following illustration. Do not place any BT-350s in the dock at this point. <Ex.> When expanding by connecting four docks B Start Epson Moverio Admin, and then enter the ID and password. Administrator ID for the initial login : moverio Password for the initial login : admin C Place controllers one by one in the dock. The BT-350s may not be recognized if you place too many all at once. Start Epson Moverio Admin in advance so that it can recognize the BT-350s as they are placed one at a time. 12
13 Basic Operations Top Screen Configuration When you log in, the first screen displayed is the "Top screen". Click to return to the top screen from the [Settings] screen. Only displayed when logging in as an administrator. Click this button to display the [Settings] screen. You can register device names or manage logged in users. "Managing Registered Devices (Administrator Only)" P. 25 "Editing User Information (Administrator Only)" P. 27 [Device status] area The connected BT-350 is displayed in the area. You can check the device name, group name, user name, status, charging status, and the synchronization status. "Checking the Status of the BT- 350" P. 14 [Data synchronization] area Area containing the data you want to synchronize with the BT-350. Files in this area are synchronized. When synchronizing when there are no files, files are removed leaving the devices empty. "Synchronizing Data" P
14 Basic Operations Checking the Status of the BT-350 In the [Device status] area, you can check the charging and synchronization status. [All devices] tab All connected BT-350s are displayed including un-docked BT-350s. "Managing Device Status" P. 15 [Name order] tab You can sort data in ascending and descending order. * You need to register device names. "Managing Registered Devices (Administrator Only)" P. 25 You can add your own names to manage BT-350s in Epson Moverio Admin. "Editing Device Names" P. 25 [Connection order] tab The last BT-350 connected to the dock is displayed from the top. [Start All] button Turns on all of the BT-350s that are connected to the dock. [Status] tab You can check the OS (system software)/ BIOS version for BT-350 and the operating time. "Checking the Status" P. 17 The charge status is displayed using six levels of charging icons. Over 75% Less than 75% Less than 50% Less than 25% Less than 15% 0%/No information * While synchronizing data, the charging status may not be displayed temporarily. 14
15 Basic Operations Managing Device Status What is Device Status? All registered BT-350s are displayed on the [All devices] tab, and you can check whether or not a device is docked. All BT-350s that have been docked are displayed. Initialize slots to delete BT-350s that are not being used. [Initialize slots] button Display Order and Slots On the [All devices] tab, BT-350s in the dock are recognized and displayed in the table from the top. (Not in the order of the slots.) Initialize slots Click [Initialize slots] to clear the device status. All status entries are deleted. "Initialize slots" P. 15 Shows the date and time when the device was connected/disconnected. 15
16 Basic Operations To display BT-350s in the order of the slots After performing "Initialize slots", place BT-350s in order of the slot numbers on the dock, and then the BT-350s are recognized in order from the BT-350 in slot 1. After this, BT-350s are displayed in order of the slot numbers, 1, 2, 3, from the top. A B C D E A B C D E 16
17 Basic Operations Checking the Status On the [Status] tab, you can check the OS (system software)/bios version for BT- 350 and the operating time. 17
18 Synchronizing Data Synchronizing Files to BT-350s Follow the steps below to synchronize files to BT-350s. A In the [Device status] area, check that the BT-350 device that you want to sync to is connected. B Select the check box for the BT-350 that you want to sync to. C Drag the files that you want to sync to the [Data synchronization] area. When you change the files in the synchronization area, the date and time for [Last synchronization] are updated. B A C D When the data you want to sync is ready, click [Synchronize data]. D 18
19 Synchronizing Data E Synchronization starts. You can check the synchronization status for the BT-350s in the [Device status] area. You cannot click the [Data synchronization] area during synchronization. To cancel synchronization, click [Cancel synchronization]. Since access is performed randomly, the order when synchronizing is complete is not consecutive. Types of Synchronization There are three types of data synchronization available for Epson Moverio Admin. [File]: Synchronize files [Application]: Install applications [OS]: BT-350 operating system (system software) update When a file is dragged into the [Data synchronization] area, the tab switches according to the type of file being dragged. In synchronization, all operations are performed depend on the file in the [Data synchronization] area. If files that you do not want to synchronize have been registered, make sure you delete them before synchronizing. You cannot roll back to a previous operating system (system software). Please note this before updating. 19
20 Synchronizing Data Synchronization Icon In the [Device status] area, BT-350s that have been connected for the first time are displayed as "Not synchronized" ( Not Started when the power is off) and are in an un-synchronized status. For un-synchronized BT-350s, you can handle data synchronization by clicking [Synchronize data] at the bottom-right of the screen, and the Synchronizing... display changes. After synchronization, the status changes to "Synchronization complete" or "Synchronization failed" depending on the results. A status check is performed for a BT-350 that has just been connected, and the Checking... synchronization icon may be displayed. After the status is Checking...", the status changes to "Not synchronized" or "Status error". * BT-350s in Checking... or Status error status cannot be synchronized. When Status error is displayed Reconnect Remove the BT-350 from the dock, and then reconnect it. Not Started/Not synchronized Restart the BT-350 Remove the BT-350 from the dock, restart it, and then reconnect it to the dock. Synchronizing... Synchronization complete Synchronization failed When Synchronization Fails When synchronization fails, although the BT-350 is displayed in the [Device status] area on the left side of the screen Checking... Status error The synchronization status changes as shown below. - When the BT-350 connection status changes (Connected / Not connected) - When the files in the [Data synchronization] area change Re-synchronize Reconnect Restart the BT-350 While in this status, click [Synchronize data] once again to synchronize. * Synchronization is not performed for BT-350s that have already been synced. Remove the BT-350 from the dock, and then reconnect it. Remove the BT-350 from the dock, restart it, and then reconnect it to the dock. * You may need to restart your computer. 20
21 Synchronizing Data Synchronization Requirements Your operating environment needs to meet the following conditions to synchronize data in Epson Moverio Admin. BT-350 An available MTP (media transfer mode) connection "USB Connection Settings" P. 7 USB debugging mode when using an ADB connection "USB Debugging Settings" P. 8 BT-350 driver installed on the computer "Installing Drivers" P. 6 Un-locked storage Free space on the storage device Dock Epson Moverio Admin A BT-350 placed in the dock The synchronization status is neither Synchronization complete, Checking..., or Status error 21
22 Synchronizing Data Checking Synchronized Data You can view data synchronized in Epson Moverio Admin, from the computer s file manager. Open file manager, and then tap the "Eadmin" folder. When synchronizing Epson Moverio Admin with the BT-350, an "Eadmin" folder is created in the root directory of the target storage device, and data is stored in the "Files" folder. You can check synchronized data in this folder. Synchronization may fail when synchronization is performed while files in the Eadmin folder are opened in an application. Perform synchronization after closing the applications. If synchronization fails, remove the BT-350 from the dock, restart it, and then reconnect it to the dock. 22
23 Synchronizing Data Deleting Files from BT-350s To delete files from the BT-350, delete unnecessary files and then synchronize the data. A In the [Device status] area, check that the BT-350 device that you want to sync to is selected. A B Select the files you want to delete, and then drag them to the trash or rightclick and select "Delete" from the menu displayed. C Click [Synchronize data] and wait for the synchronization to complete. B C 23
24 Synchronizing Data Deleting Applications from BT-350s This section explains how to delete applications from the BT-350. A On the right side of the [Device status] area, check that the BT- 350 device that you want to sync to is selected. D Check the content of the dialog displayed, and then click [OK]. E Check the content of the dialog again, and then click [OK]. B While holding down the Ctrl key on the keyboard, right-click on the application you want to delete from the BT-350, and then select [Uninstall] from the menu displayed. C Select the package name of the application that you want to uninstall from the sub items on the "Uninstall" menu. Deleting Applications at the Same Time You can uninstall the same application at the same time from multiple BT-350s. To uninstall applications from multiple BT-350s, select the check box for all target BT-350s in A, and then select the check box for [Other selected controllers perform the same process.] in D. The check box is selected by default. Make sure you do not uninstall applications by mistake. 24
25 Managing Registered Devices (Administrator Only) Editing Device Names In Epson Moverio Admin, you can add "Device names", "Group names", and "User names" to BT-350s and manage them. You can also manage unconnected BT- 350s. Changed content is applied immediately to connected BT-350s, and is applied to unconnected BT-350s the next time they are connected. C You can change this by clicking the text area. When you have finished making changes, press the Enter key to confirm them. A [ ] is displayed at the top right of the screen when you log in as an administrator. Click this icon to display the [Settings] screen. B Click [Manage registered devices] on the [Settings] screen. 25
26 Managing Registered Devices (Administrator Only) Editing Unconnected Devices Click the [Unconnected device] tab to display a list of unconnected BT-350s. You can edit the BT-350s in the same way as connected BT-350s. You can also cancel registration for devices that are displayed that you no longer plan to use. When you re-connect a BT-350 that has been canceled, it is re-registered. Updating registered information Even if the BT-350 is connected, it is not updated until you click [ ]. Click [ ] to display connected devices. 26
27 Editing User Information (Administrator Only) Editing Information for Administrator Epson Moverio Admin has two types of user "Administrators" and "Users". You can edit information for an administrator from [Change registered information], and you can add and delete Users from [Manage login users]. Click [Change registered information] on the [Settings] screen. When you are logged in, you can enter information such as the ID, password, and contacts. Changing the Administrator Password On the change password screen, enter the current password, and then enter the new password twice. Click [Save] to finish. 27
28 Managing Users Editing User Information (Administrator Only) Adding Users A Click [Manage login users] on the [Settings] screen. B Click [Add User]. You can set up to five users. C Enter the ID used when logged in. D Enter the User name. E Click [Save] to finish. A B C D E 28
29 Editing User Information (Administrator Only) Changing the Password for Users A Click [Change] on the [Manage login users] screen. Deleting Users Click [Delete] to delete users. B On the change password screen, enter the current password, and then enter the new password twice. Click [Save] to finish. * When making a new registration, [Current password] is blank. 29
30 Setting Synchronization Folders (Administrator Only) In Synchronization Folder Settings, you can select the storage device used for file synchronization. A Click [Synchronization Folder Settings] on the [Settings] screen. Only synchronous storage files can be changed. You cannot change the installation location of the operating system (system software) startup storage/applications. B Select the target for data transfer from [Internal memory] or [SD]. C Click [Save] to finish. B A C 30
31 Troubleshooting Cannot install Before installing Epson Moverio Admin, you need to install.net Framework 4 and SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2. When these are not installed, the installer operates before this application is installed. (You need an Internet connection.) A folder for synchronization has not been created in the BT-350 When writing to the highest priority storage for the BT-350, the storage may switch to virtual storage on the BT-350. Set the internal memory or the SD card. "Setting Synchronization Folders (Administrator Only)" P. 30 The connected BT-350 is not displayed on the screen The target BT-350 is not displayed in the list of Portable Devices in My Computer. Install the driver if there is a warning symbol (yellow triangle) on the BT-350 in Device manager from the Control panel. "Installing Drivers" P. 6 If there is a disabled symbol (downward pointing arrow) on the BT-350 in Device manager from the Control panel, enable the device in the right-click menu. Enable the media device (MTP) for the BT-350. "USB Connection Settings" P. 7 Remove the BT-350 from the dock, and then reconnect it. Remove the BT-350 from the dock, restart it, and then reconnect it to the dock. * You may need to restart your computer. In Windows, the BT-350s may not be recognized if you place too many all at once. This status occurs when too many BT-350s are connected to the dock that is connected to the computer. Remove the BT-350s from the dock, and then reconnect them one by one. The device is displayed in My Computer except for in the list of Portable Devices. When synchronization fails Remove the BT-350 from the dock, restart it, and then reconnect it to the dock. * You may need to restart your computer. Application installation/operating system (system software) update always fail You need to enable debugging mode in the BT-350. "USB Debugging Settings" P. 8 When reconnecting the device, a message may be displayed asking if you want to allow the USB debugging function to connect. When this is displayed, allow the function to connect. The synchronization button is covered in the taskbar Set the screen resolution to 1280 x 768 dots or larger. Depending on the screen resolution settings, the synchronization button may be covered by the taskbar. In this situation, you can perform operations by moving the taskbar to the left or right. You can reduce the screen size by placing the cursor at the corner of the software. Enable the media device (MTP) for the BT-350. "USB Connection Settings" P. 7 Check if the application is running in the BT-350's notification area. 31
