2 Install FitnessGram (If you already have the program installed, then skip to section Update FitnessGram to 8.4 ) 1. Insert the FitnessGram CD. 2. Go to My Computer > CD-ROM. 3. Double click on FitnessGram 8.3 Window Installer. 4. Click Setup. 5. Once the files have extracted and the installation program begins, click Next. 6. Choose Install FitnessGram 8.3 Client, and click Next. 7. Accept the License Agreement by click the checkbox, and click Next twice. 8. In the box asking for the address of the FitnessGram server, enter: Click Next. 10. Click Next one more time, and the installation should begin. 11. Click Next for the last time, and the installer will close. You should see two icons on your desktop, one for the Student Client and one for the Teacher Client (You will not use Student Client. You will use Teacher Client.) 12. Double click on the FitnessGram 8 Teacher icon that s on your desktop. You re not done yet! Now UPDATE THE PROGRAM TO 8.4. Update to FitnessGram 8.4 You MUST install FitnessGram 8.4 before you can use the program. To Download the FitnessGram 8.4 Update 1. Enter this URL in your address bar: ftp://fgupdate:guppiefish@ftp.hkusa.com/fitnessgram8.4windowsupdater.exe and save the file to your desktop (or go to and click on the FitnessGram8.4WindowsUpdater.exe link.) To Install the FitnessGram 8.4 Update 1. Exit out of the FitnessGram program if it s open. 2. Double-click the FitnessGram 8.4 Updater.exe file that you downloaded to your desktop. 3. Click the Setup button. Read the information listed in the first screen of the update. 4. To start the update process, click the Next button. Follow the onscreen prompts to install the update. 3 Setting Up & Working in FitnessGram Teacher Launch (open) the FitnessGram Teacher program. 1) Login using the following information: Elementary PE teachers will log into each of their classes using the homeroom teacher s username. Intermediate & Middle school PE teachers will login using their own login name. High School PE (and other testers) will login using the English teacher s FitnessGram username. Standard Username: FirstInitial (no space) LastName Ex: Joe Smith s username would be jsmith. Password will be win2005 or WIN2005 Do NOT change your username or password! IMPORTANT! Here are some Non-Standard FitnessGram usernames REFER to for an updated list!!!! 4 2) You will see a list of teachers. Select (highlight) your class from the Teacher box. 3) Click the FitnessGram button. High School ONLY: Option 1: Select ALL from the Class drop-down list if you prefer creating one test for each teacher and seeing all the teacher s students when entering scores. Option 2: Select individual course-sections, create a test for each section and see only the students in that class when entering scores. Create a Test for This Year 4) Click the Add button and the following window will appear In the Step 1 Basic Information area Enter name of the test event... WE HAVE TO BE SPECIFIC! 5 For Elementary: Homeroom Teacher s First Initial Last Name (space) School Name (space) Grade Level (space) Spring2009 (Ex: jsmith Holt 3 Spring2009) For Intermediate & Middle: PE Teacher s First Initial Last Name (space) School Name (space) Block x (space) Spring2009 (Ex: jsmith MaryOrr Block 6 Spring2009) High School: English Teacher s First Initial Last Name (space) School Name (space) Spring2009 (Ex: jsmith LegacyHS Spring2009) In the Step 2 Select if appropriate area - See screen shot above for settings In the Step 3 Organize Your Test Event area See screen shot above for settings 6) Click OK when done. The window will close and that test will appear in the Tests box. Now you have created a test to use this year. Open the Test 1) Highlight the test name that appeared in the Test box. 2) Click the Scores button. You can use the Tab, Arrow, or Enter keys or your mouse to move from field to field. NOTE! If you prefer, you can print a score sheet from the reports menu or the scores screen to enter scores by hand, and then transfer the data to FitnessGram. To print from the scores screen, click the Print Scores Sheet button. The score sheet will open in Acrobat Reader. After the score sheet opens in Acrobat Reader, go to File > Print & select your printer. Add a Student, if necessary: IF a student isn t listed, you can add him/her by clicking on the Students button. A list of students will appear. Now click the ADD button. Enter the students: Last Name, First Name, Student Number (SSN or student ID#), checkmark Print Body Composition, Gender, Grade, Birth date, Teacher, Class, and Ethnicity. 6 Run the Test After all data has been entered into FitnessGram a parent report needs to be generated for each student: 1) Click Reports (on the menu bar). 2) Click Report Wizard. 3) Select Teacher from the drop-down menu then click Next. 4) Click on teacher name then click Next. 5) Checkmark FITNESSGRAM Parent Report front and back then click Next. 6) Select View click Next. 7) Select All Tests and click Next. 8) Wait for the report to be generated in Acrobat Reader. 9) After to the report appears, print by going to File > Print. 10) Select your printer then click Print. 11) Lastly, print the back page of the print. Elementary, Intermediate & Middle schools: You will give the FitnessGram reports to the person who is responsible for stuffing report card envelopes at your campus.
