5 Chapter 1 Welcome March Networks Cloud is a mobile solution based upon cloud technology that allows you to access video surveillance from Command Recording Servers, 7532 Hybrid NVRs, R5-based recorders (3000, 4000, and 8000 Series DVRs/NVRs), and selected March Networks cameras remotely using a handheld mobile device (such as a smartphone or tablet) or any personal computer with internet connectivity. Designed to work with touch screen compatible devices, the Cloud is geared towards clients who are looking for video security and surveillance on the go. 6 Key Features Compatible Recorders March Networks Cloud 1.1 is compatible with the following recorders and devices: Command Recording Servers - version 1.5 and higher 7532 Hybrid NVRs - version 1.5 and higher 3000 and 4000 Series DVRs - version SP SP10 and higher 8000 Series Hybrid NVRs Important: The following recorders and edge devices can still be added to the Cloud service, but are not compatible with the playback features and with the PTZ features: Command Recording Servers - version 1.3 and 1.4.X 7532 Hybrid NVRs - version 1.3 and 1.4.X 3000 and 4000 Series DVRs - software v SP4/SP SP8/SP9 Note: You can also register DVRs with software version SP3 and SP7 to the Cloud using a static web page ( However, it is strongly recommended that you upgrade your DVR to the latest version. 7 Cloud Web Interface Cloud Web Interface March Networks Cloud offers two different graphical user interfaces: Client and Administrator. Cloud Client Interface The Cloud Client is an HTML based Web interface requiring no plug-ins or installation. You simply start the web browser and watch the videos. Cameras are organized in pages and stripes for easy grouping. You can switch video instantly by selecting a new camera from the thumbnail. You can filter cameras by name or tag and select different quality levels for maximizing image quality or frame rate. PTZ control allows moving PTZ cameras, using optical zoom, and preset recalling. Cloud Administrator Interface The Administrator profile and users with administrative privileges can access the Cloud Administrator interface and perform the following functions: Configure video sources (cameras) and customize the Cloud Client layout. For more information, see Configuring Video Streams on page 10. Manage user profiles and accounts. For more information, see Managing Profiles and Users on page 21. Note: The Administrator user cannot be modified or deleted. This account is typically used for initial setup and for creating users and other administrative tasks. The Administrator account cannot view live video from the cameras added to the Cloud. Starting the Cloud Administrator Application 1 In a Web browser, enter in the Address bar. 8 Starting the Cloud Administrator Application The Login page appears. 2 Click the ADMIN tab. Note: A user with administrative rights can instantly switch from the Cloud Administrator to the Cloud Client interface and vice versa. 3 In the Account box, enter the name of the account. 4 In the Username box, enter the name of a user with administrative privileges. 5 In the Password box, enter the password of the user. 6 (Optional) If you want the system to remember your password, click Remember Me. 7 Click Log In. The CAMERAS tab opens on the Administrator Main page. Notes To log out of the Cloud Administrator interface, click the Log Out button on the Main toolbar. To switch back to the Cloud Client interface, click the Client GUI button on the Main toolbar. You can then switch back to the Cloud Administrator interface by clicking the Administrator GUI button. 9 Starting the Cloud Administrator Application Recovering Credentials The March Networks Cloud Administration interface allows you to recover the user s credentials with a fast and secure procedure. To recover credentials 1 In a Web browser, enter in the Address bar. The Login page appears. 2 Click I forgot my password. The Password Reset page appears. 3 In the Account box, enter the name of the account. 4 In the Username box, enter the name of the user. 5 Click Send. March Networks Technical Support will send an to the address specified in the user account with an authorization code that allows the password to be reset. 11 Cloud Bridges Page Cloud Bridges Page The Cloud Bridge is an integrated software feature that allows you to register R5-based recorders, 7532 Hybrid NVRs, Command Recording Servers (CRS), and selected March Networks cameras to the Cloud service. The Cloud Bridge connects to devices and acts as a bridge to send information to the Cloud application. The Cloud Bridge page shows a list of cloud bridges that have been registered with the Cloud application and lists the internal ID, name, status, IP address, notifications, and the number of sources. Important: You must register a recorder/device to the March Networks Cloud service by accessing the recorder s/device s configuration interface (Command Config for Command Recording Servers and 7532 Hybrid NVRs, Administrator Console for R5-based recorders, and Web Setup for edge devices). Only Cloud users with the Manage Cloud Bridge permission can register a recorder/device to the Cloud service. For more information, see Profiles Page on page 22 and the documentation accompanying your recorder/device. Viewing the Cloud Bridges Page 1 In the Cloud Administrator application, click the Cloud Bridges tab. The Cloud Bridges page appears. 2 To open the Notifications panel where you can view details of the list of events associated with a specific Cloud Bridge item, click anywhere on the specified row. The Notifications panel opens displaying details of the selected Cloud Bridge ID. There are four categories of notifications: Icon Description Information - A simple notification about the streams statuses Warning - A potential issue with one or more Cloud bridges Error - An issue with one or more Cloud bridges March Networks Cloud 1.1 Administrator Guide 11

12 Cloud Bridges Page Icon Description Critical - A critical issue with one or more Cloud bridges that require immediate intervention To refine your data, you can sort on a column or search on a page, as described below. Sorting and Filtering Data In the Cloud Administrator interface, you can sort data in column lists displayed on pages, tabs, or panels in alphabetical order. You can also filter the data by entering text into the Search box or by selecting a day from the calendar, where applicable. Sorting Column Lists On a page, tab, or panel, select a column header and click the Sort button. The elements in the column list are automatically sorted in ascending or descending alphabetical order. Filtering Data 1 To filter the data by text, type the search criteria in the Search box and press the ENTER key. To return the panel contents to the original state, delete the text in the Search box and press the ENTER key. 2 To filter the data by time and date (where applicable), click a day button. Alternatively you can select a date by clicking the button to select a day from the calendar. March Networks Cloud 1.1 Administrator Guide 12

13 Cameras Page Cameras Page The Cameras tab shows all video stream information (video sources) handled by the Cloud service. You cannot add video sources directly to the Cloud. You must add the video source to a recorder (such as CRS, 7532, DVR) or select an encoding profile on a supported camera, register the recorder/ device to the Cloud, and then select the encoding profile that will be sent to the Cloud service. All these tasks must be accomplished using the configuration interface of the recorder/device. For more information, see the documentation accompanying your recorder/device. You can arrange and create groups of cameras using Tags. A Tag is a textual tag used to describe device information and group streams together. Multiple tags can be applied to any number of video streams. Tags are useful to search for cameras, create layouts, and assign rights to user profiles. Viewing the Cameras Page On the Cloud Administrator main page, click the Cameras tab. The Cameras page appears. The Cameras page is divided into two panels: The left panel shows the Name and Tags for all configured video source devices. The panel is organized in pages. Every page contain 32 different cameras. To select a page, click the page number on the page selector on the panel toolbar. Note: If the selector has more than 10 pages, you can scroll the page by hovering the mouse on the First and Last button. The selector automatically scrolls the pages. The right page panel shows a list of Available Tags. March Networks Cloud 1.1 Administrator Guide 13

14 Cameras Page Removing Video Sources 1 Select a video source row. 2 Click the Delete button to the left of the video source thumbnail you want to delete. The Delete Camera dialog box appears. 3 To remove the video source from the Cloud service, click Confirm. A confirmation dialog box appears at the bottom of the panel. You can add the video back to the Cloud service by accessing the configuration interface of the recorder the camera belongs to. For more information, see the documentation accompanying your recorder. Renaming Video Sources 1 Select a video source row. 2 Click the Edit button to the left of the video source thumbnail you want to rename. The Name field is selected. 3 Enter a new Name. 4 Do one of the following: Click the Save button to change the name of the video source. Click the Cancel button to cancel the changes and retain the current name. March Networks Cloud 1.1 Administrator Guide 14

15 Cameras Page Creating Tags 1 To create a new tag to attach to a video source, in the Tags column, click the Add a Tag button in the video source row. 2 In the text box, enter the label text for the new tag. The new tag appears in both the Tags column and the Available Tags panel. Adding Existing Tags to Video Sources In the Available Tags panel, click and drag a tag to the Tags column for a video source row. The tag appears in the Tags list of the specified video source. To search for a specific tag on the left panel or right panel, enter the tag label text in the Search box and press the ENTER key. Deleting Tags from Video Sources In the Tags column, click the Delete Tag button located on the right side of a tag name. March Networks Cloud 1.1 Administrator Guide 15

16 Cameras Page The tag is removed from the video source. Deleting Tags 1 In the Available Tags panel, click the Delete button located on the left side of a tag name. 2 In the Delete Tag dialog box, click Confirm to delete the tag from all video sources and from the Cloud Administrator interface. The tag is deleted from all video sources, from the Available Tags panel, and from the entire Cloud service. Important: You cannot delete tags if they are used by a layout or is associated to a user profile. To delete a tag, you must first remove it from all of the layouts and/or user profiles. 17 Layouts Page Layouts Page On the Layouts page, you can configure how the video sources are displayed in the Cloud Client interface. You can customize different layouts by adding tags and then assign them to different users, according to their role and permissions. Every layout assigned to a user appears as a different button in the Cloud Client interface. Viewing the Layouts Page On the Cloud Administrator main page, click the Layouts tab. The Layouts page appears. The Layouts column shows all existing layouts that can be assigned to users in the Cloud Client interface. March Networks Cloud 1.1 Administrator Guide 17

18 Layouts Page Creating Layouts 1 On the Layouts page, click the Add a Layout button. The Edit Layout panel opens with an empty layout. 2 In the Layouts column, enter a name for the new layout in the Layout Name box. 3 In the Available Tags panel, click and drag a tag into the Edit Layout panel. The first tag automatically appears as the tab header on the Layouts page. Note: This header represents a new page on the main toolbar of the Cloud Client interface. 19 Layouts Page 4 Click and drag additional tags into the Edit Layout panel. Note: Each tag you place under a tab header on the Edit Layout panel represents a row in the Cloud Client interface. 5 Click the Save button to add the new layout. The new layout appears in the Layouts column. To search for a specific layout, enter the layout name in the Search box and press the ENTER key. Deleting Layouts 1 In the Layouts column, click the Delete button located on the left side of the row of the layout you want to remove. 2 In the Delete Layout dialog box, click Confirm to remove the layout and associated profile from all video sources and from the Cloud Administrator interface. Modifying Layouts 1 In the Layouts column, click the Edit button to the left of the layout you want to edit. The Edit Layout panel opens. March Networks Cloud 1.1 Administrator Guide 19

20 Layouts Page 2 Do any of the following: Enter a new name in the Layout Name box. Click the Delete button on the right side of a tag to remove the tag from the tab header and the row in the Cloud Client interface. Click the Delete button on tab header to remove the tab and the page in the Cloud Client interface. 3 Click the Save button to apply the changes in both the Cloud Client and Cloud Administrator interfaces. 21 Chapter 3 Managing Profiles and Users The Cloud Administrator can access the following pages to manage the user credentials available in the March Networks Cloud application: Profiles Page. 22 Profiles Page Profiles Page On the Profiles page, the administrator configures rights associated with different profiles (or roles). A profile has an associated layout and set of permissions which is then assigned to a user. The profile defines what actions a user can perform and view in both the Cloud Client and Cloud Administrator interface. For example, an operator should be able to live video from selected cameras, but not to manage Cloud bridges and user accounts. The following table defines the default user profiles and access rights. Profile Administrator Manage Cameras Manage Cloud Bridge Manage Own Password Live Video PTZ Control Description of Default Rights User has full access to the Cloud Administrator interface. User has the ability to modify video sources on the Cameras page. User has the ability to view devices notifications in the Cloud Bridges page and to unregister devices from the March Networks Cloud. This right also allows a user to add a device to the Cloud service by directly the configuration interface of the device. User has the ability to change their logon password. User has the ability to view all or specific video sources. This right includes also the ability to access archived video evidence for the selected video sources. User has the ability to control PTZ cameras, and launch presets for all or specific PTZ video sources. Viewing the Profiles Page On the Cloud Administrator main page, click the Profiles tab. The Profiles page appears. The Profile and Layouts columns show all existing profiles and layouts that can be assigned to users in the Cloud Client interface. 23 Profiles Page Creating Profiles 1 On the Profiles page, click the Add a Profile button. The Profile Rights panel opens. 2 In the Profiles column, enter a name for the new profile in the Profile Name box. 3 In the Layouts column, select an existing layout to associate with the new profile. 4 In the Profile Rights panel, select the check boxes corresponding to the right you want to assign to the new profile. 24 Profiles Page 5 To assign permissions on single cameras: a Clear the Live Video or the PTZ Control check boxes (if selected). b Drag tags from the Available Tags panel to the Drag tags here to add rights field. The user profile will be able to view and control the cameras grouped under the selected tag. Important: You can assign different permissions depending on where you drag the tags: Drag two (or more) tags on the same row to assign permissions only on cameras that have both tags. Drag two (or more) tags on different rows to assign permissions on every camera that has almost one of the tags. 6 Click the Save button to create the new profile. The new profile appears in the Profile column. To search for a specific profile, enter the profile name in the Search the ENTER key. box and press Modifying Profiles 1 In the Profile column, click the Edit button to the left of the profile you want to edit. The Profile Rights panel opens. 2 Do any of the following: In the Profile box, enter a new name. Modify the profile rights, as required. If you have added a tag to the Live Video or PTZ Control rights, click the Delete button on the right side of a tag to remove the tag from the right or drag a new tab to the Drag tags here to add rights field. 25 Licenses Page 3 Click the Save button to apply the changes in both the Cloud Client and Cloud Administrator applications. Deleting Profiles 1 In the Profile column, click the Delete button located on the left side of the row of the profile you want to remove. 2 In the Delete Profile dialog box, click Confirm to remove the profile from all user accounts and from the Cloud Administrator interface. Important: If one or more user accounts are associated to the deleted profile, you must assign a different profile to it. For more information, see Modifying User Accounts on page 28. Licenses Page On the Licenses page, the Administrator can check the number of available licenses and order additional licenses. A user can access the Cloud interfaces only if a valid license was assigned to his account. The Administrator account does not require a license, but cannot see live video from the cameras added to the Cloud service. For more information about assigning licenses to user accounts, see Users Page on page 26. Viewing the Licenses Page On the Cloud Administrator main page, click the Licenses tab. The Licenses page appears. The Licence Number and Expiring Date show information about the license. The Max Users column show the total number of licenses that can be assigned to a user account. The Assigned Users column shows the number of licenses currently assigned to user accounts. March Networks Cloud 1.1 Administrator Guide 25

26 Users Page Ordering Additional Licenses 1 On the Licenses page click the Add License button. The Order License dialog box appears. 2 In the Number of Users text box, Enter the number of licenses you want to purchase. 3 Click Confirm. The request is sent to your CSP, who will place the purchase order to the March Networks Customer Service. Users Page On the Users page, the Administrator can manage all users in the Cloud application. There are two types of users in the Cloud Administrator application: Administrator: Has the ability to add, but not view, all video resources and to create access rights/privileges for any user in the system. User: Has the ability to access video and resources attached to their username and password (which are set by the Administrator). It is recommended that you create an additional account with administrative privileges: the Administrator account does not require a valid license to access the Cloud interfaces, but cannot view live video from the cameras added to the Cloud. Viewing the Users Page On the Cloud Administrator main page, click the Users tab. The Users page appears. March Networks Cloud 1.1 Administrator Guide 26

27 Users Page The Username, , and Profile columns show all user credentials of existing users in the Cloud Client application. The Licence Number column shows which licence is assigned to the user accounts. Creating User Accounts 1 On the Users page, click the Add a User button. The New Users panel opens. 2 In the Username column, enter a name for the new user. 3 In the column, enter an address for the new user. This option is required to recover the user s credentials. For more information, see Recovering Credentials on page 9. 4 In the Profile column, select a profile for the new user from the list. 5 In the Licence Number column, select an available license for the user account. 6 Click the Save button. 28 Users Page 7 The Change Password dialog box appears. 8 In the New Password box, enter a password for the new user. Note: It is recommended that the password contain a minimum of eight characters, including at least one number and one capital letter. 9 In the Confirm Password box, enter the new password again. The strength of the password is displayed in the strength indicator. 10 Click Confirm. The new user appears in the Users panel. To search for a specific user, enter the user name in the Search ENTER key. box and press the Modifying User Accounts 1 In the Username column, click the Edit button to the left of the user you want to modify. 2 Do any of the following: In the Username box, enter a new name. In the box, enter a new address. In the Profile box, enter select an existing profile. Click the Change Password button to change the password. 29 Users Page Changing Passwords The Administrator can change the passwords of all users. Users with Change Own Password rights can change their own password. Only the Administrator is able to change his own password. Changing the Password of Users (By Administrators) 1 In the Password column, click the Change Password button on the row of the user that you want to change the password for. The Change Password dialog box appears. 2 In the New Password box, enter the new password. Note: It is recommended that the password contain a minimum of eight characters, including at least one number and one capital letter. 3 In the Confirm Password box, enter the new password again. The strength of the password is displayed in the strength indicator. 4 Click Confirm. The password is changed and the new password will take effect the next time the user logs in. 30 Users Page Changing User Passwords (By Users) 1 Click the My Details button on the Main toolbar. The My Details dialog box appears. 2 In the Old Password box, enter the current password. 3 In the New Password box, enter the new password. Note: It is recommended that the password contain a minimum of eight characters, including at least one number and one capital letter. 4 In the Confirm Password box, enter the new password again. The strength of the password is displayed in the strength indicator. 5 Click Confirm. The password is changed and the new password will take effect the next time the user logs in. Deleting User Accounts 1 In the Username column, click the Delete button located on the left side of the row of the user account you want to remove. 2 In the Delete User dialog box, click Confirm to remove the user account from the Cloud Administrator and Client interfaces.
