A ControlMaster PC Configuration 1 Introduction This Quick Start Guide describes installation and basic operation of the ControlMaster PC configuration software and includes: PC configuration software installation Establishing a ControlMaster online connection Uploading / Downloading configurations Saving a configuration Opening an existing configuration 2 PC configuration software installation This section describes how to install the software required to configure a ControlMaster using a PC. The ControlMaster PC configuration software comprises a number of components that must be installed prior to using the tool. Do not restart the PC until all components have been installed (see Sections 2.1 to 2.4). Note. If the software is installed on a PC that does not have Acrobat Reader installed, and the license dialog is not closed prior to installation, installation cannot proceed. Close the license dialog and restart Setup. In the case of a fresh installation, all install options are selected and executed automatically. If a previous version of any of the software components is already installed, the dialog provides the option to upgrade. Note. If the software is installed on a PC with a 64 bit operating system and the option to 'Upgrade' any of the components is selected, the following error may be displayed due to access rights restrictions: Log off and re-logon ensuring administrator access rights are enabled. Click the 'Next' button to begin installing / upgrading the software. When the Setup program is run, a dialog is displayed showing the status of each component:

Click 'Finish' to exit setup. 2.2 Installing ABB DTM Modbus Communication Follow the Windows InstallShield Wizard instructions for ABB DTM Modbus Communication. 2.3 Installing ABB CMxx Modbus ControlMaster Follow the Windows InstallShield Wizard instructions for ABB DTM500. Note. When the 'Select DTMs' dialog is displayed, ensure both Install options are checked, and click 'Next'. 2.4 Installing IRDA to Comm 4.0 Port Driver 1. Click 'Next' to initiate installation and follow the Windows InstallShield Wizard instructions for Franson SerialTools RunTime. Note. By default, the installation language for Franson Serial tools Runtime is English, regardless of the Setup language selected. 2. When the IrDA to Comm 4.0 installation wizard completes, ensure the 'Start the application' checkbox is selected and click 'Finish' to complete the installation. Note. The USB driver for the ACTiSYS ACT-IR 4000U Infrared device is also required. Windows XP normally installed and supported. If the ACTiSYS ACT-IR 4000U infrared device is not detected automatically, install the driver from the CD. Windows 7 will download and install the Sigmatel driver automatically. 2 IM/CM/PC-EN Rev. 3 3 Establishing a ControlMaster online view connection This section describes how to establish an online view connection to a ControlMaster using the PC configuration software. 1. Align the IrDA dongle with the IrDA port on the front of the ControlMaster. Ensure the dongle is located approximately 200 mm (8 in.) from the front panel or use the IRDA dongle mounting accessory. 3 Establishing a ControlMaster online view connection 3. When Asset Vision Basic is first run after initial installation or an update, a flashing 'Please update the device catalogue' message is displayed. Click 'Update' to update the device catalog before continuing. 4. Select 'Modbus over Serial Line' and click 'Next'. The Communication Interface Configuration dialog is displayed: 2. Either click the 'Apply' button to download only the changed parameters in the currently open dialog or use the icons indicated in Sections 4.

When the device scan is complete, click 'Next' on the Communication Interface Configuration dialog.the following message is displayed: 8.

Right-click the IrDA to Comm logo ( ) in the Windows task tray and select 'Restore IrDA to Comm' to ensure that the 'COM port' selection shown matches the comms port configured in IrDA to Comm. 6. Click 'Next' on the Communication Interface Configuration dialog. The 'Execute Scanning' screen is displayed: 4 Uploading / downloading configurations Note. The icon is displayed next to changed parameters indicating that the changes must be downloaded to the ControlMaster. Either click the 'Apply' button to download only the changed parameters in the currently open dialog or use the icons indicated in Sections 4.1 and 4.2 to download the complete configuration. 4.1 Full configurations To upload / download a full configuration use the icons (circled) in the upper toolbar: 7. When the device scan is complete, click 'Next' on the Communication Interface Configuration dialog.the following message is displayed: 8. Click 'YES' to switch to online view and upload the connected ControlMaster's configuration. Click 'NO' to switch to online view without uploading the connected ControlMaster's configuration. 9. The ControlMaster is now connected in online view mode and is ready for configuration see Section 4. This downloads / uploads both the Identify and Parameterize parts of the configuration. If a configuration is changed it can be uploaded / downloaded using these icons. 4.2 Part configurations To upload / download the Parameterize or Identify parts of the configuration only, use the icons (circled) in the lower toolbar: Note.
