3 Introduction This document contains an End User version of the Release Notes for the Bromcom MIS Software for Version 5. The Release Notes contain details of the latest updates, fixes and new features that have been implemented in this release. An enhancement is either an improvement we have added or a new feature. Some of these are user requested, but most are enhancements we make to improve the software. This document contains the Release Notes for V Update 3.2 What is an Update? When an enhancement is requested or an issue is found, the details are sent to the Development Team. Once they have made the enhancement or fixed the issue an update is created. This update can contain one or many fixes, for one or many modules, it is then tested by the Testing team and released either to be included into the next Build, (if there is one imminent), or it is passed as an Update to be deployed by the Support Team who will contact you and arrange a mutually agreeable time to apply the Update. 4 New Features Communication Send New Message [IM053434] Communication > Send New Messages New options have been added to the Dynamic Fields dropdown menu for the capitalisation of Him/Her, His/Her and He/She. Previously this would not always put the capitalisation in the correct place. Now instead of the system working this out it will be done manually when sending a message or creating a message template. When sending a New Message or Creating a New Template, simply select the correct option from the Dynamic Fields Dropdown Menu. NOTE: All previously created Templates will have to be amended with the new updated upper and lower case options. V Update 03.2 Release Notes 2

5 Framework Alert Installer Updated to One Click Installation Alerts To update to the new Alerts installer the old version will have to be deleted and the machine being used restarted, this machine will also have to have Microsoft.Net Framework v4.6.2 installed, (if you are not sure which version you have please check with your IT department). To install the new version Uninstall the current Alert software (in the same way you would remove any other software) and restart the machine. The new version can be found by clicking on the down arrow to the right of the user name in the top right hand corner of the page and selecting Versions. This will open the Versions page where the installer will be listed in the Download Client Installers section. Click on either the 32 bit or the 64 bit option and follow the install wizard, ending with the one click Install option. [Clicking on the wrong option for your computer will give a message informing you of this, if this happens just try again with the other version]. The latest Alert option will now be installed, this will be Version If you already have the Alert function you should have the instructions for the configuration setup. 6 Reporting Reporting New Data Items [IM050323, IM051261] Reporting New Data Items for Language and English proficiency have been added to the Language Entity. These are Language Code, English Proficiency Code and Language Filter. V Update 03.2 Release Notes 4

7 Resolved Issues Administration IM Routines > Manual Data Import > Basic details Import Manual data import for basic details (student) was not assigning an admission number to newly created students IM Routines > CTF Import The CTF Import was failing if the file contained FSM records for the same student IM Community > Student Details > Student Selection When processing a student leaver the page was > Process Leaver redirecting to the student selection page IM Community > Student Details Could not use the delete button in student record IM Routines > Manual Data Import/Export The Nationality field was appearing when trying to import student address details when it should have been the country field. 9 Assessment IM Templates > Tracking Templates The tracking template find window was not defaulting to Active IM Routines > Centralised Export/Import Was giving a page error when using the Excel option IM Templates > Assessment Sheet List The colours for columns in a tracking template for data review formulas were not updating until the sheet was saved IM Templates > Incomplete Marksheets Was listing completed Marksheets as incomplete IM Routines > Assessment Migration School reported that the migration of Assessment Data had caused issues with the formulae IM IM Routines > Import Assessment Data The Import process was not importing the Exceptions V Update 03.2 Release Notes 7

10 Attendance IM Reports > Absentee List Report When set for fully absent for date only on threshold not selected this was returning students with less than the threshold for the beginning of Spring/Summer Terms IM Attendance > Teacher Register & Amend Attendance options This was for a school using a local installation and not the Cloud version of the MIS. Attendance retrieval processes running on the server for MCAS were slowing the system down. V Update 03.2 Release Notes 8

11 Behaviour Issues Description IM Reports > Event Summary Report Was displaying the student names incorrectly IM IM IM IM IM Behaviour > Behaviour Entry Behaviour > Detention Entry Behaviour > Detention Review If there was only one or zero detentions in the system. The Behaviour Entry page was giving an error IM IM IM Behaviour > Behaviour Entry > Select Negative Event > Generate Detention Behaviour > Behaviour Entry > Generate Detention Reports > Behaviour >Analysis Exports > Select Mail Merge Events by Date A popup was displayed with the message that the student is timetabled in the selected period and detention was not created even for Break or After School When logged in as a teacher who also has administration rights the staff selection could not be changed When run this was timing out giving an error message IM Teacher Register The red D icon to show a detention was not displaying on some of the teacher registers. This was because the detention was set to be scheduled in the teacher s room. If the teacher was not assigned a room the red D was not displaying. This has now been changed to display whether the teacher has a room or not. V Update 03.2 Release Notes 9

15 Curriculum Issues Description IM Routines > Apply Timetable Model Apply timetable model failed due to dates on band-block relationship. Some of the block-band relations ended on 31/08/17 and the new academic year on to therefore this failing on this process IM Pupil Premium Some students who were eligible for Pupil Premium were not displaying in the Pupil Premium Group but not in the (V) Pupil Premium Group V Update 03.2 Release Notes 13

16 Dashboard IM Announcements On the popup the colours of the text were not contrasting very well making it difficult to read IM Diary > More > Parent Evening > Manage Booking Staff Legal names were being displayed instead of Preferred names IM My Groups > Add Learning Resources Option to browse to select entries under a file name were appearing as blank V Update 03.2 Release Notes 14

18 Dinner IM Maintenance > Student Meal Definition Add/Edit Available Charges IM IM Dinner > Dinner Registers > Select Students > OK > Add Comment Was giving a null reference exception when trying to update the Dinner charges. 19 Exams IM Reports > Seating Plan Report The default parameters had not been updated to include the new options to Include Exam Time and Include Special candidates key and Code IM Reports > Seating Plan Report Unselecting the show exam time was still showing the time IM Reports. 20 Framework IM My Reports > Focus Selector The Focus Selector was not displaying individual students for report selection IM Scheduled Reports Some scheduled reports were occasionally displaying with the word hell on the end of the student name. 22 Other IM iphone 7 and above Using a higher version iphone caused the page to zoom in when the font was less than16px. If this happened while taking a register the zoom would obscure the name of the student IM ipad 2 > Safari Browser Was not sending SMS text messages V Update 03.2 Release Notes 20

23 Reporting IM Reporting > Preview IM IM Reporting: Assessment Results Domain post migration When previewing some reports they were giving an error. Using the new assessment module with lots of results in the system was taking a long time to load the results domain, preview and running the actual report IM Reporting: Number/Currency The Number/Currency User Defined Field column created in a report was giving an error for decimal columns IM Reporting: General When the report filter was accessed whilst editing a report the calendar selector was not working IM Reporting > List Report Changing the status of the label tick boxes was causing an error IM Reporting: General Order of the columns in the Preview was randomly changed after adding new columns to Detail list box IM Reporting > Students > Student Groups The start date column was not displaying the option to hide the time when doing a Web Merge IM IM IM IM IM IM IM IM IM Reporting: All Entities linked to Personal Information > Names and Photos > Alternative Preferred Name Reporting: Scheduled Reports Reporting: General Reporting: Attendance Letters and Student Attendance Domains Exports Alternative preferred name column has been renamed renamed to Legal Full Name Format and the description changed to avoid confusion with name format items in Setup module The reporting scheduled reports were not working. This was happening in the following scenarios 1. Staff A created a scheduled report and then Staff B changed the scheduled job settings 2. Staff A created scheduled report and job and later Staff B changed the report layout Was giving an error when a static value data item was used The Student attendance and student letters could not be filtered by period display names and period names The way.csv files are created for export has been updated IM Reporting: Subjects/Groups Entities Start/End dates were not visible in the Subjects/Groups entities IM Reporting: Adhoc Reports There was an issue with the formatting and width of 3 customer created reports IM Reporting: Adhoc Reports School created reports were timing out and giving an error IM Reporting: Adhoc Reports School created report with Full Address Label Layout, but it was displaying on a single line IM Reporting: Web Merge On a school created Web Merge report the Grade images were displaying too large IM Reporting: Adhoc Reports School created report was not displaying the total columns and rows even though the tick box to display them was ticked IM Reporting Adhoc Reports School created a Web Merge report that included V Update 03.2 Release Notes 21
