The Start Menu has been streamlined Easier to find applications, as you type in the Instant Search field Vista locates choices
The run command is not in the start menu, by default All Programs > Accessories > Run The Search bar in the Start Menu functions as a run menu If you want the Run menu, Type run (hit enter) Windows Key + R Right-click > Properties > Customize
Most people don t realize the extent to which the Taskbar can be customized. It can be re-sized and/or moved to a different edge of the screen The QuickLaunch menu can be moved/resized, as well
Live Thumbnails are part of the Windows Aero experience in Windows Vista Live thumbnails are small images of open windows that appear in your Windows Vista taskbar when you mouse over the application's button.
Flip 3D Allows users to toggle between applications with relative ease Really though it s just a snazzy new way to show off the new interface Windows Key + Tab
Task Switcher Legacy switcher Quickly toggle between active applications Simpler (faster?) Alt + Tab
Desktop In Vista, select an icon, hold down CTRL and scroll your mouse wheel - and your icons will expand before your eyes. It makes them easier to view, and as nearly every icon is a snapshot of the file itself, you can see what's inside them as well.
Windows Explorer You can use the Ctrl + Mouse scroll zooming feature in Windows Explorer, as well Or you can click the Views button to select an option Useful for Looking at images Sorting by details
Click and drag it into the Favorite Links pane on the left of every Windows Explorer window to keep it just one click away.
In Windows Explorer, click Organize > Layout and select Preview Pane You'll get an extra panel on the right of every window that shows you the contents of every file: if it's a PowerPoint presentation, you can click through the slides too.
Easily select multiple items on the Desktop or in Windows Explorer Organize > Folder and Search Options > View > Use check boxes to select items

The Snipping Tool has got to be one of the most indispensible additions to Windows, and yet many people aren t even aware of its existence. This tool allows the user to snip portions of the screen and create an image file
Set gadget opacity Close Sidebar, but keep gadgets running Drag gadgets off of the Sidebar Right-click Sidebar, click Close Windows+ Spacebar

Microsoft has been engineered to be the most secure version of Windows Uses a multi-layered approach to security Windows Firewall Windows Update User Account Control Internet Explorer 7/8 Protected Mode
Right-click a file and select Restore Previous Versions Restores files from Backups or Windows Restore Points Works really well on your Network drive (another reason to save files there!)

Enables you to import and organize your photos Click Fix and you can crop out unsightly backgrounds, remove red-eye and adjust the lighting, too. Automatically backs up every photo: press CTRL and R and it'll restore it just as it was when you first imported it
Creating a slide show is quite easy Simply add a folder to the Gallery Then click on the slide show button at the bottom of the application
Making a movie is just as easy Highlight the pictures you want to include in your movie Click on the button Windows Movie Maker will open
Move the pictures to the story board at the bottom Then go to File Publish Movie If you want to get fancy click on AutoMovie
Select the format of the movie
