1. Installation The Pelco Viewer ActiveX Control is designed for the Pelco Camera Video Streaming interface in CitectSCADA, CitectFacilities and Vijeo Citect. Minimum hardware and software requirements for Pelco Viewer ActiveX Controls for Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows Vista must be met in order to install and run the Pelco Viewer ActiveX Control. Video streaming is CPU and RAM intensive, based on the number of video streams running. This could impact the SCADA system. DirectX technology has been introduced with this release. Using DirectX enables the video rendering to be handled by an external processor and RAM configuration. We strongly recommend that any video streaming should be handled on SCADA clients using DirectX and NOT on the SCADA servers. 1.1 Operating systems requirements Supported operating systems Table 1 Supported operating systems Operating System Version(s) Architecture Service Pack Windows XP Professional Intel X86 Latest Vista Business Intel X86 Latest Non-supported operating systems Although additional operating systems are supported by Vijeo Citect 7.0 and 7.10, they are not in the scope of this project. 7 1.4 Pelco Viewer ActiveX Control installation Installation Installation of Pelco Viewer ActiveX Control is straightforward. Simply double-click PelcoViewerSetup.msi to launch the installer as shown on the screen below, and then follow installation screen prompts to install the camera viewer ActiveX control, and click the Finish button to complete the installation Verify installation The installation can be verified by launching the supporting program. PelcoPlayer can be launched either from the installed directory or menu: Start Programs Pelco PelcoCamera PelcoPlayer. PelcoPlayer command line interface is available and visible during testing: Pelco ATL Player will also be launched. 7
Click on Configure button to launch Network Stream Settings. If using RTP mode to connect to the camera, please ensure you enter valid values for: > Camera IP address > Camera Port (Default 49152, check camera manual otherwise) > ServiceID set to 1(Default camera number) > Local IP address > Local Port (Default is 9102) 8
With Sarix cameras, the connection can be established using the following RTSP URL: RTSP://IP Address/stream1 Note: Stream1 or stream2 is required as a string to connect to the camera. On pressing the Connect button, the following format of the viewer is visible. If the viewer is not showing the live video image from your camera, i.e. there is no video but just a black screen, then the stream is not connected. Please make sure that all required software is installed on your computer and that the correct IP addresses and ports are used. If a problem persists, please refer to the How To Guide which contains information on testing the camera using the Pelco software. NOTE: Troubleshooting may also involve checking that the ports are not blocked by the network administrator or that the IP addresses are accessible. 9
2. Pelco Test Example Project The easiest and quickest way to test the Pelco cameras in the SCADA system is to start with the Pelco Test example project. There are two example projects in the Project folder located under the installation folder selected during the installation. One project is for V7.0 and the other is for V7.10. After the relevant project has been restored, compiled and configured, enter all the connection details on the page and then connect to the camera. There are five pages in the PelcoTest project, and they cover one, two, four cameras, Sarix camera and Camera Management, respectively. Some genies have been developed to assist. Feel free to expand the project to cover more cameras. Please make use of the genies provided. 2.1 Camera page The PTZ toolbar and popup menu are provided to control the cameras, as well as mouse and customised control buttons. 10
2.2 Camera page 2.3 Camera page 11
2.4 SarixCamera page 2.5 PelcoCameraManager page Pelco Camera Management is used to add or edit Pelco camera information such as camera name, camera description, camera IP address, port, camera number, RTSP mode, RTSP URL and bandwidth. All camera information is stored on the database (DBF files). This functionality can also be used to test the camera video stream in order to make sure the information is valid after camera information is added or edited as shown below (see Pelco Viewer ActiveX Controls Interface Guide document for more details). The example shows how to edit a camera record. Please note that Camera Name and Camera RTSP Mode fields are mandatory. 12
Important: Please do not turn on cameras too quickly when on above page as it may cause the client to freeze. 2.6 Alarm camera link Alarm camera link function has been added into Pelco Test Project. Please see Pelco Viewer ActiveX Controls Interface Guide on how to set up, compile and run alarm camera link. After the project has been successfully compiled and run, click Connect button to launch video stream. Then, click one of the alarm camera link buttons on the bottom to test the alarm camera link function shown below. By clicking a different alarm camera link button, the camera video stream will move to different camera position as defined by the preset ID number. 13
3 Add Pelco Viewer to SCADA Project 3.1 Create tags for camera properties To be able to connect to a Pelco camera from Pelco Viewer ActiveX Control in SCADA runtime, camera connection information must be specified to an object of the Pelco Viewer ActiveX Control. To store those camera property values or connection information, SCADA tags can be created to manage them. For details about how to create SCADA tags, please refer to the SCADA manual. To manage camera connections, the following basic camera properties must be managed for an RTP camera: > Camera IP address String type > Camera port number Long type > Camera number Long type > Unicast stream IP address String type > Unicast port number Long type Below is an example of IP address creation. Other tags can be created by following this example. 3.2 Adding Pelco Viewer ActiveX Control Once the Pelco Viewer control has been installed, you can add the Pelco Viewer ActiveX Controls to the SCADA pages. Open Graphics Display and click the Add ActiveX button, as indicated on the toolbar: 14
The Insert ActiveX Control window will come up. Select Pelco Viewer and click the Insert button. Open the Pelco Viewer Properties. Under the Access tab and the Identification subtab, set the Object Name to PelcoCam. 3.3 Setting camera properties Next, map all variable tags created in section 3.1 to camera properties. The example below shows how to map the camera number. For RTP cameras, please ensure that all of the following properties are mapped: > Camera IP address String type, eg > Camera port number Long type and default value is > Camera number Long type and default value is 1 > Unicast stream IP address String type > Unicast port number Long type and default value is
Map all the relevant properties of the camera to the SCADA variable tags that were created previously as below: An example has also been provided below for a Sarix camera. 3.4 Create buttons and text objects Manage camera properties In order to be able to change the properties of the Pelco camera, we use a genie called SetValue to create buttons and text objects. For example, in order to be able to set the IP address, a new genie button will need to be created. Create a new genie button with the Label as IP Address, and the Variable as IpAddress, as shown below. Follow the above procedure to create text and button objects for the following properties: 16
> Camera IP address String type > Camera port number Long type > Camera number Long type > Unicast stream IP address String type > Unicast port number Long type Connect and disconnect function First, create a new button and add a Label Connect. Under the Input tab, add the following action to the Up command: _ObjectCallMethod(ObjectByName("PelcoCam"), "Connect") Next, create a new button and add a Label Disconnect. Under the Input tab, add the following action to the Up command: _ObjectCallMethod(ObjectByName("PelcoCam"), "Disconnect"); The test Pelco camera interface should now look something like the following: 17
3.5 Genies To simplify project creation, additional genies have been designed in example projects for: > function > setvalue > pelcocameraselector For more information about those genies, please refer to Pelco camera example projects. 3.6 Compile and run the project After the project has been successfully created or modified, compiled and configured to include Pelco Viewer ActiveX Control, simply start to view and control the cameras from SCADA runtime after runtime has been started. The PTZ toolbar and popup menu are provided to control the cameras. The popup menu can be accessed by right-clicking the mouse and choosing the option to have the toolbar visible. The camera can also be controlled by using the left mouse button and traversing the mouse toward the direction that the camera is required to move. Compile and run the project. Once the project is up and running, update your Page List from the Pages menu and then navigate to the page. Click the IP Address button that was created and enter a valid IP address of the camera. Enter all the required camera properties: > Camera IP address String type, e.g > Camera port number Long type and default value is > Camera number Long type and default value is 1 > Unicast stream IP address String type e.g > Unicast port number Long type and default value is 9102 Click the Connect button and the Pelco Viewer should be connected to the camera as below: 18
It should now be possible to view the live video and control the Pelco camera using the built-in PTZ controls such as toolbar buttons, mouse and popup menus. Cameras can be controlled using customised buttons. For more details, please refer to the Pelco test example project(s). 19
4 Other Features 4.1 PTZ toolbar Provided with the Pelco Viewer is a toolbar which enables the camera to be manipulated. The toolbar has the following controls: These controls enable the camera to Pan right or left (P) These controls enable the camera to Tilt up or down (T) Stop the Pan or Tilt operations Move the camera to the home position Zoom near/far Focus near/far Iris open/close This toolbar can be hidden by right-clicking the mouse button in the video screen and checking show/hide toolbar. 4.2 Popup menu control The popup menu toolbar enables additional controls and configuration of camera features. The following controls are available to use by right-clicking the mouse button in the video screen. Assign pattern video sequences to cameras: Pattern => Stop Stop Pattern => Run Run Pattern => Record End Record Modify Pattern Assign Presets to cameras: Preset => Select Preset => Modify Preset => Delete Preset Assign Scan sequences to cameras: Scan => Stop Scan => Scan Random => Scan Frame => Scan Auto Assign Operations to cameras: Operations => Rotate 180 Degrees => Pan to Zero Hide Toolbar controls: Show/Hide Toolbar 20
4.3 Pelco Viewer mouse control The Pelco Viewer provides additional controls for the camera which can be manipulated using the mouse. Only the following mouse controls can be used: Using the left mouse click button: > Moving the mouse left will move the camera to the right > Moving the mouse right will move the camera to the left > Moving the mouse up will move the camera to the down > Moving the mouse down will move the camera to the up Using the mouse scroll button: > Scroll forward, zoom near > Scroll backward, zoom far 4.4 DirectX or GDI The interface supports both DirectX and GDI technology. It is recommended that you use DirectX for the stream rendering as it is handled by an external processor and RAM configuration on the graphics card. However, if your system does not have a graphics card with dedicated onboard memory, you can use GDI instead. To use GDI technology, follow the instructions outlined below: a. Close down your runtime environment b. Rename the current file pelcoapirenderer.xml in the installed plug-in directory to pelcoapirenderer.xmlold c. Rename the current file pelcoapirenderer.xml_gdi in the installed plug-in directory to pelcoapirenderer.xml d. Start PelcoPlayer to test mode changing e. Restart your runtime environment 4.5 RTSP and Sarix Cameras The Real Time Streaming Protocol, or RTSP, is an application-level protocol for control over the delivery of data with real-time properties. RTSP provides an extensive framework to enable controlled, ondemand delivery of real-time data such as video. Sources of data can include both live data feeds and stored clips. This protocol is intended to control multiple data delivery sessions, provide a means for choosing delivery channels, such as UDP, multicast UDP or TCP, and provide a means for choosing delivery mechanisms based on RTP (RFC 1889). Sarix cameras have an RTSP server in the camera and the current interface supports both RTP and RTSP. The SarixCamera page in the example project is designed for a Sarix camera (see Pelco ActiveX Control documents for details). 21
5. Documentation After a successful installation, a directory named Documentation is created under the selected installation directory. Additional information is available in this directory. 6. Notes on Pelco Interface Usage Pelco camera integration into SCADA provides the ability to stream video on a SCADA system and control the camera. This feature is provided as an additional aid to the operator and should not be used as the primary means of control and safety. This is intended as a complementary feature, not as a replacement for a full security and CCTV surveillance system. 22
