1 Using SpringPeople Virtual Labs Each participant will be assigned a separate, dedicated, Virtual Lab computer for the entire duration of the training + a week for completing assigned development project. Unless specified otherwise, Virtual Labs for a training class will be decommissioned at the end of the training + project completion duration and participants will not be able access to the assigned Virtual Lab computer thereafter. Participants should download all their working data to their machines at the end of the training + project completion duration. Once virtual labs are decommissioned, all the data on the Virtual Lab computers will be wiped out. Virtual Lab Computers SpringPeople Virtual Lab computers are cloud based virtual machines, with all the required software already installed and ready to use This includes the appropriate Integrated Development Environment (IDE) Visual Studio/Eclipse/Notepad++ etc. Participants will be able to install any other software as and when required. Participants can save all their working data (code, documents, executables, compiled code artefacts etc.) on the virtual lab machine (it should be done on drive named Data Disk 2 ). Any data/files stored on other drives (OS drive: C: or Temporary Storage drive) can potentially get lost during regular, backend, Virtual Lab computer maintenance operations. There is no way to recover data/files lost from these two drives. Connection Details In advance of the class start, each participant will be ed the details of the Virtual Lab computer assigned to them Participants will be given their login credentials for the virtual lab machine, using which they will log on to the virtual lab machine. Participants will have two different ways of accessing the virtual labs - either through regular RDP client on their MS Windows computers or through a web based remote access client. Trainer will be able to join in the participant session on the Virtual Lab computer to assist the participants, as and when needed. Access 1. Remote Desktop Connection Access your assigned Microsoft Windows based Virtual Lab machine through RDP, using Remote Desktop Connection application (available by default on all Microsoft Windows Workstation and

2 Server systems). - Click on Start->Search->Remote Desktop Connection. Start application. - Type your assigned Virtual Lab Computer name in the field Computer. - Click on Show Options button to show User name field. Type your assigned Virtual Lab Computer Local Administrator user account name (default: LabAdmin ). Click Connect. - A Security Certificate warning message is displayed (due to Virtual Lab computer having a unrecognised, local generated security certificate). Check the option Don t ask me again and click Yes to connect.

3 2. Browser based access (ThinRDP) Participants can also access the Virtual Lab computer through a web browser from any device (computer, tablet, smartphone etc.), running on any operating system. No software/applications are needed on at the participant end with this method. - Launch browser and navigate to the following url. Please note that it s on port 8081, over HTTPS and not http! Lab computer name>.southeastasia.cloudapp.azure.com: At the Authentication prompt, use the following credentials: User Name: admin Password: admin Note: It s the ThinRDP user login and the Virtual Lab computer login.

4 - Click Log In - On the ThinRDP page, click on the Config button. On the Display tab, change Color Depth to 256 (to achieve best responsiveness on the remote session) - On the Security tab, type your assigned Virtual Lab Computer Local Adminstrator user account name (default: LabAdmin ) in the User Name field and associated password in the Password field. Click Back and Connect on the home page to start your remote session.

5 Auto-shutdown & On-demand Restart Virtual Lab computers are configured to automatically shutdown 30 minutes after user disconnects the RDP session (this includes both, logoff and direct connection close without logoff). As such, users should always save all their work prior to disconnecting their session; any unsaved data/work will potentially be lost! Users can restart their assigned Virtual Lab computer any time during the period Lab machine is available to them. To do so, simply navigate to the following URL (Replace <Virtual Lab Computer Name> with the name of the Virtual Lab computer assigned to you: Lab Computer Name>
