3 A. Overview Version 6.40 addresses issues found in version 6.0, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3. B. Installation V6.40 is a full installer (like V6 RTM). As such it can be used: As a new install As an upgrade to prior 4.x, 5.x and 6.x databases As a direct upgrade to an existing V6.x software installation BEFORE INSTALLING, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS. BEFORE applying any upgrade, administrators are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to back-up the Pyramid content store database. The installer must also be installed with administrative privileges by an administrator. Directions for Full Installer Run the Launcher.exe file on the ISO installation media file. To use the ISO installation file, perform one of the following: o Mount the ISO file and install the contents on the virtual drive. o Burn a copy of the ISO file to a DVD or CD-ROM disc. o Extract the ISO to a local directory. The upgrade process MUST be done across all servers hosting the same instance of the platform. If you are unsure of the correct course of action, please contact Pyramid Support for assistance. Deployment Wizard Once the installation has been applied, the administrator will be presented with the Deployment Wizard. The administrator must complete the entire wizard in order to apply the upgrade successfully. If you are prompted to reboot the server, restart AFTER you have run the deployment wizard. New Features in 6.40 TOOL FEATURE DESCRIPTION Data Discovery Story Board Publications Data Discovery Story Board Data Discovery Story Board Caching Proprietary Actions Multi-Element Slicer Selections in Actions BI Office now provides enhanced caching facilities. There are three separate caching mechanisms: Content Caching - Improves response time for accessing your books, custom members and custom sets on the content server. May be enabled/disabled by administrator. Query Caching - Improves response time for the accessing of query results from models. May be enabled/disabled by administrator. Metadata Caching - Improves response time for accessing model metadata. Administrators may control caching timeouts for each of the three caching mechanisms (Content, Query, Metadata). For details, see the Caching Timeout section in the Settings page of the Admin Help. Support for Proprietary Cube Actions. These have been enacted to work as a combination of the standard URL and DrillThrough actions. Prior to BI Office Version 6.40, Microsoft cube actions could be accessed in BI Office with singleelement slicer selections only. BI Office now allows administrators to globally enable cube actions for multiple-element slicer selections on any version of Analysis Services, 2005 onwards. This applies to DrillThrough, Rowset and Proprietary Actions. The settings can be found in the new Actions dialog in the Admin. HTML5 Action Results The Action results table in the HTML5 client has been upgraded to better facilitate large data sets. General Performance Performance improvements have been made in various areas: communication with Repository database; Analysis services; the HTML5 client; load up in the Main SilverLight client; log views in the admin console. 1. Other Features Added Since 6.30 These features were added in the minor releases 6.31, 6.32, 6.33 TOOL FEATURE DESCRIPTION ProClarity/Legacy ProClarity/Legacy Total Optimization Context Heuristics Measure Optimization Performance Improvement Default import option changed New import option Lazy Groups Lookup Similar to the Optimize button, this optimization switch employs the NONEMPTY function but does so only within the total operation when it is used in a query. Should be used when totaling performance is poor. This will inject the EXISTING MDX function explicitly into the query as needed. Highly nested queries with sibling hierarchies on a specific axis (column or row) can see dramatic improvements in performance. Improve query performance when using multiple hierarchies, not from the same dimension and Measures on Columns/Rows. Significant improvements in large payload handling between client and server. PAS content imports without query pre-checking. An option to enable the Query PreCheck was added to the ProClarity BBK Importer. Improved login performance by getting users active directory groups. The Master User defined during the installation process can now view all Content tabs within the admin console. Added "Import Power BI File" command in the content management system to allow the import of PBIX files directly from inside the application. Added support for multi-value columns in SharePoint list data sources. When performing scheduling impersonation with the "Use My Account" technique, no password is required for token-based access. 6 D. Issues Addressed in 6.40 TOOL DESCRIPTION Backstage Domain name was removed from the username information in the Account section of BI Office. Fixed an issue where data sources with the same name were each treated as unique when they contained different upper/lower case characters. Data Discovery Added an option to deselect all members after a search in a hierarchy tree slicer. This is a feature which was previously removed from BI Office and which is being reintroduced in Version Fixed an issue where a linear gauge was not showing its title. Story Board Fixed an issue where Dynamic Text had its slicer interaction reset when moving between slides. Fixed an issue where Global Slicers stopped working after an upgrade. Fixed an issue where the contents of an initially loaded dashboard was not sliced according to the slicer selection. Fixed an issue where a slicer selection returned no results. HTML5 Fixed an issue where data points did not appear in a mobile application when there was only one data point for a given series. Fixed an issue where the Back button appeared in an HTML5 dashboard even though the user requested to hide it. Fixed an issue where an interaction to a text asset did not work. Fixed an issue where the wrong item was selected when making a selection in a single select hierarchy tree slicer. 2. Other Issues Addressed Since 6.30 These items are covered in the minor releases 6.31, 6.32, 6.33 TOOL DESCRIPTION Data Discovery Improved Clustering stability. Fixed an issue where a blank space appeared in a grid. Fixed an issue where an exception is thrown after clicking on Copy Content (when the UI language is other than English). Fixed an issue where an exception is thrown after unselecting a measure in a Hierarchy Tree slicer. Fixed an issue where the option to Exclude these from the result set does not work in the ASD when using Top and Bottom filters. Fixed an issue where the cascading slicer logic breaks the parameter defaults settings. Story Board Fixed an issue where an exception is thrown when deleting a comment. Fixed an issue where a variable with conditional display does not work as expected in a specific scenario. Power BI Fixed an issue where Power BI Content is not overwritten when uploading the same Power BI content with the same name. Fixed an issue where PBI Content is not interactive in Story Boards. Fixed an issue where PBI content is no longer available after an upgrade due to changes in the authentication setting of the PBI App in IIS. HTML5 Fixed an issue where complex cascading slicers that work in Silverlight fail in HTML5. Fixed an issue where complex cascading slicers produce incorrect results. Improved stability for the Multi Select Drop Down Box. Fixed an issue where an ArgumentNullException is thrown when making a slicer selection. Fixed an issue where maps with a query based on a parameter throw a JavaScript error. Fixed an issue where making a selection in a Hierarchy Tree Slicer which is based on a rugged hierarchy throws a JavaScript error in a certain scenario. Fixed an issue where the wheel menu does not respond to clicks in Chrome. Fixed an issue where the HTML5 UI will not work when using HTTP and Windows Authentication. Fixed an issue where an error message appears when using SSL with an invalid certificate. Printing/Exporting Fixed an issue where a Publication Flow Grid width is not constant across all pages.
