5 1 Introduction The purpose of this document is to help internal Xerox personnel better understand the content of the Xerox WorkCentre 6605 and Xerox WorkCentre firmware updates. These updates expand key enterprise functionality. The following document provides an explanation of key features, including detailed information on the expanded functionality and differences in feature behavior when compared to Xerox products using Xerox ConnectKey Technology controllers. This document is specific to the following firmware versions: Xerox WorkCentre Xerox WorkCentre Cloning and Installation Note: there is no change to the current cloning method for the Xerox WorkCentre 6605 or Xerox WorkCentre 3615 delivered as part of this firmware update. Peer to peer cloning continues to be supported as performed via network cloning within Xerox CentreWare Internet Services. Note: The network settings NVM region will be reset on the multifunction printer as part of the installation procedure with this update resulting in the need to manually reapply several of the current settings on the device. The currently provided firmware update tool has the capability to discover up to 254 printers within the same subnet. Printers on different subnets may be manually added to the list by selecting the Add button and manually entering the IP address. The upgrade process is applied to one single printer at a time and does not support upgrading multiple devices at the same time.

6 3 Convenience Authentication Enablement Convenience Authentication (CA) works with the existing Panel Lock and Service Lock features. To enable Convenience Authentication, Panel Lock must be enabled via the Secure Settings page in Xerox CentreWare Internet Services. Then Network Authentication must be enabled. In the Service Lock section of the page, one or more services must be set to Password Locked. Once these settings are applied, the Authentication System page allows the user to select Xerox Secure Access. The Xerox Secure Access Settings page allows the user to enter detailed server and feature settings, however the server will typically populate this data via SNMP when the device registers with the CA Server. The same method of enablement can also be accomplished at the device touch panel from within the Admin menu. Card Readers These products support the list of USB card readers shown below. Note: Network card readers and/or visual barcode readers are not supported. Logging In A user can successfully authenticate with a card swipe or manual login at the local user interface only when presented with a blocking screen.

If a user swipes a card while not presented with a blocking screen, the device will display a message informing the user to select a service to login.

Card swipe behavior is as follows depending on the printer s state: Power Saver mode: Card swipe will wake machine, but not authenticate.

7 Logging In A user can successfully authenticate with a card swipe or manual login at the local user interface only when presented with a blocking screen. A blocking screen is the screen containing a pre-defined message informing the user to authenticate to access a feature. If a user swipes a card while not presented with a blocking screen, the device will display a message informing the user to select a service to login. The blocking screen cannot be configured to display by default. A locked service (as denoted by a key icon) must first be selected. Card swipe behavior is as follows depending on the printer s state: Power Saver mode: Card swipe will wake machine, but not authenticate. User is presented with message to select a service to login. Services home screen: Card swipe will be ignored. User is presented with message to select a service to login. Within an unlocked service: Card swipe will be ignored. User is presented with message to select a service to login. While a job is processing: Card swipe is ignored, user is presented with a message after job completes. Blocking screen: Card swipe will authenticate user if card is registered with CA server.

Logging Out In order to log out, the authenticated user must return to the Services Home screen and select the key icon (Logout button) in the upper right corner of the device touch panel, or by

These products do not support a card-swipe logout. If the authenticated user swipes a card, a message will be displayed informing the user to select the Logout button to continue. Supported Server Solutions Xerox WorkCentre 6605 and Xerox WorkCentre 3615 are compatible with Equitrac Office v5 and greater, Equitrac Express 5 and greater and Ysoft SafeQ 5SR1 and greater. Previous versions of Equitrac may work but functionality has not been formally evaluated. Ysoft SafeQ prior to version 5SR1 will not properly work based on limitations of Ysoft SafeQ device registration requirements. Xerox Secure Access Unified ID System is not supported.this firmware release does not contain any updates for local or network accounting (Job Based Accounting). Follow-You Printing (Pull Print) Pull Print is supported on these products, but is limited to Release All functionality. There is not an option for selective release of specific print jobs. The server must be configured to either Release All at Login or Confirm Release. Because authentication can only occur at a blocking screen, users must enter a locked service (such as Copy or ) to successfully authenticate and release waiting Pull Print jobs. USB Ports WorkCentre 6605 and WorkCentre 3615 both have 1 USB port located on the front of the printer. When a USB card reader is plugged in, users may still use Scan To USB and Print From USB, but the card reader must be removed, the needed function performed, and the card reader plugged back into the front of the printer. Note: performing a hot swap of the card reader is supported.

9 4 Scan Workflows Scan to Home When a user authenticates to the device using LDAP network authentication, a new service icon appears in the Scan To workflow called Home... This will send the scan job to the users home directory as defined in their Active Directory profile. Scan to home will not appear if either Xerox Secure Access Unified ID System or Kerberos user authentication types are employed, only when LDAP network authentication is configured for use. Scan to The From field can be configured to auto-populate with the senders address when LDAP network authentication method is enabled. The From field will contain the configured default From address as defined by the administrator for any other authentication type (or if the authentication method is set to none). Automatic sendto-self using the authenticated user s address to auto-populate the To field is not supported. 5 IP Filtering The IP Filtering feature replaces the Host Access List feature on the Xerox WorkCentre 3615 only. This is an enhancement that allows the user to filter on all ports (no longer limited to port 9100 and lpr only), filter IPv6 addresses, and manage up to 20 filters as a list (including add, edit, and delete functionality).

10 6 Character Set Limitations There is no change to the character sets currently supported by the Xerox WorkCentre 6605 and Xerox WorkCentre These products do not support input of Cyrillic or Latin (accents, umlauts, etc) characters via the device front panel, CWIS or SNMP. Effect on Network Authentication: Users cannot login if network user names or passwords require input of accented (or umlaut, etc) character. Effect on Address Book Search: Users cannot search the LDAP directory if search criteria requires input of accented (or umlaut, etc) character. Effect on Convenience Authentication: The blocking screen on the user interface will not properly display Latin or Cyrillic characters. If a custom blocking screen with accented characters is required, each unsupported character will appear as an ** on the local user interface of the device. Users cannot register new cards from the local user interface if the username or password contains Latin or Cyrillic characters. These cards will have to be registered at the server or at a device with support for the required character set.
