1 Running Mekorma MICR on Windows Vista The following instructions apply to users running Mekorma MICR Version 8.0 and 9.0 (all builds) with Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. Turning off UAC in Vista, following Giving Full Permission to a Standard User Installing Dynamics GP 9.0 Outside of the Program Files Hierarchy Installing Dynamics GP 10.0 Inside the Program Files Hierarchy Additional Information If you are running Mekorma MICR and Microsoft Dynamics GP is installed inside the Program Files hierarchy (for example, C:/Program Files/Microsoft Dynamics/GP), the User Account Control (UAC) feature in Vista must be turned off, and the GP folder must have special permissions for non administrator users to successfully use Mekorma MICR. IMPORTANT: Granting non administrator users full permission allows them to use the program and modify or delete files from the GP directory. It DOES NOT allow non administrator users to install applications (such as Mekorma MICR) inside the Program File/GP hierarchy). Turning off UAC in Vista To turn off the UAC feature, complete the following steps: 1

2 1. Log on to the system as an Administrator, and select Start Settings Control Panel. You see the Control Panel screen: 2. Double click the User Accounts icon. You see the User Accounts screen: 2

3 3. Select the Turn User Account Control on or off option. You see the Turn User Account Control On or Off screen: 4. Uncheck the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer option and click OK. Close the remaining dialog boxes. Giving Full Permission to a Standard User To give full permission to a standard user, complete the following steps: 3

4 1. Log on as an Administrative user and navigate to the Dynamics GP directory. Rightclick on the GP folder and select Properties. 4

5 2. On the GP Properties dialog box that displays, click the Security tab. 5

6 3. Click Edit and select the Users group in the Group or user names section. Under the Permissions for Users section, check the Allow box to the right of the Full control option. 4. Click OK and close any open dialog boxes. IMPORTANT: Granting standard users full permission allows them to use the program and modify or delete files from the GP directory. 7 Installing Dynamics GP 9.0 Outside of the Program Files Hierarchy If Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 or earlier is installed outside of the Program Files hierarchy, you do not need to turn the UAC feature off or grant any special user permissions to the folder. Installing Dynamics GP 10.0 Inside the Program Files Hierarchy Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 can be installed inside the Program Files hierarchy with the UAC feature On or Off and no special permissions are required.
