1 IBM Configure FileNet Image Services to Work with P8 Content Manager Steps to configure CFS-IS on P8 Content Manager and federate content from FileNet Image Services By Anita Behera Abstract: The users of IBM FileNet Image services (IS) are willing to use the new features of P8 CE while using the IS server with the use of CFS-IS extension. This article provides a step by step approach to configure IBM FileNet Image services with IBM FileNet P8 Content Manager. 2 Prerequisites 1. Install FileNet Image Services 4.2. Refer the below link for further details. Product Documentation for FileNet Image Services : 2. Install P8 Content Manager 5.1 on a different server. There are several new features in IBM FileNet P8 Content Manager (CE) like Encrypted Storage Area, Single Instance Storage area. The users of IBM FileNet Image services (IS) are willing to use the new features of P8 CE while using the IS server with the use of CFS-IS extension. This article provides a step by step approach to configure IBM FileNet Image services with IBM FileNet P8 Content Manager. What is CFS-IS extension Content Federation Services for Image Services (CFS-IS) integrates and federates content from IBM FileNet Image Services repositories to P8 Content Manager. CFS-IS enables Content Engine to use Image Services as another content storage device. Users of FileNet P8 applications have full access to content stored in existing Image Services repositories. Existing Image Services content is preserved and usable by Image Services applications, and is reusable by FileNet P8 applications as well, without duplication and without change to existing applications. Steps to configure Content Federation Services for FileNet Image Services Follow the below steps to configure CFS-IS on P8 Content Manager server using the administrative tool, FileNet Enterprise Manger (FEM). Make sure that the FileNet Image Services is up and running. On the Image Services server create a document class and upload documents those need to be federated. Using this document class, a mapping will be created to the P8 Content Manager document class using the FEM. To configure the steps, start the FileNet Enterprise Manager and log in as the administrator user. I. Create Object Store and enable CFS-IS. 2

3 II. Create and configure a fixed content device. III. Create and configure an external repository. IV. Create and configure a replication group. V. Create a document class and configure mappings. VI. Create and configure a fixed storage area. VII. Using IS Remote Admin Console map the document classes. VIII. View the documents federated from the IS server. Detailed Instructions I. Create Object Store and enable CFS-IS The CFS-IS software component is built into the Content Engine software. It is part of Object Store AddOns. While creating the Object Store you can enable this feature. Here are steps to create an Object Store on P8 Content manager server and enable CFS-IS extension. 1. Create Object Store as shown below. 4 2. Create required databases and data sources for Object Store creation, before running this wizard as specified in P8 Content Manager Info center Link (Creating an object store). In the wizard provide the Data Source names you have created. Figure 2. Specify the Data Sources 3. You can create any of the 3 types of storage areas as shown below as a default storage area for this Object Store. If you select the File Storage area or Fixed storage area you have to specify a folder location for content storage. Here we have selected File Storage Area and created a folder named "filestore" on C:/ to store contents of this storage area. 4

7 6. Select the "Administrator" as the object store administrator and click on Next. Figure 6. Specify the object store administrators 7. You can add user groups those have basic, non administrative access to the store and click on Next. 7

Create and configure a Fixed Content Device: The fixed content device is a Content Engine object that can point to external repositories that runs independently of the network file system to which the device is connected. Create and configure a fixed content device on P8 Content manager server for the FileNet Image Services server that you want to communicate with. 1. Create a Fixed Content Device. 12

15 4. Select the IS server document class name which you want to map to the Object Store document class from the drop down list. Figure 15. Choose a default IS Document Class for the device 6. Enter the Site Specific settings, if any and click on Next. 15

17 III. Create and configure an external repository: Create and configure an external repository on P8 Content manager server for fixed content device (FCD) you have created. 1. Create a new External Repository. 17

21 IV. Create and configure a replication group: Replication Group synchronizes data and objects between the P8 Content Manager and IS server. Create a replication group for the Object Store and associate with the FileNet Image Services external repository pair. 1. Create New Replication Group. Figure 23. 37 VI. Create and configure a Fixed Storage Area: A fixed storage area contains a staging area for the FileNet Image Services fixed content device. 44 VII. Using Remote Admin Console to map Document Classes: Login to the IS Remote Admin Console (RAC). Set the Default Document Class mappings and check on the re-export check box and export the documents to the mapped Object Store. 1. 46 3. Select CE Configured IS Document Class. From the available CE Object Store Mappings, select the CE Domain and the CE Object store. Click on the Set Default Map. Figure 55.
