SETTING UP THE HARDWARE This section will show you how to easily install and connect all the hardware components of your system. All Lorex Internet Video Security Monitoring Systems feature a simple USB interface to your computer. Although the Video Grabber you purchased may vary, depending on the type of system, all of the hardware components are connected in the same way. There are various video grabbers available. The unit you have purchased will be one of the following. Wireless System Wireless & Wired Systems Wired System Observation System Internet Video Security Monitoring Systems 4
SEE WHAT YOU VE BEEN MISSING Wired Cameras Connecting the Wired camera to the DVM video grabber TIP Connect the camera plug to the extension cable jack. The video grabber jacks are color coded to match the corresponding camera cable plug. Connect the yellow (video) and white (audio) RCA plugs from the camera extension cable to the yellow and white RCA jacks on the back of the video grabber. Note: Not all DVM systems support the audio function for all cameras. The DVM video grabber provides power for the wired cameras. Connect the supplied power cable from the video grabber to the extension cable. Quick Start Guide 5
SETTING UP THE HARDWARE TIP It s best to select the final location for a wireless camera after you are able to verify the quality of video images on your computer (see Section ). Building materials can greatly reduce the 00 ft. wireless range between camera and video grabber. Wireless Cameras Connecting the Wireless camera to the DVM video grabber Set the channel Plug the power cord on the camera. into the camera. Turn on the camera. Internet Video Security Monitoring Systems 6
SEE WHAT YOU VE BEEN MISSING DVM Video Grabber Connecting the DVM Video Grabber to the PC Example DVM Video Grabber TIP When the software driver has been completely installed, a message will appear in a small pop-up balloon in the lower right corner of your screen. Quick Start Guide 7

Setting Up Port Forwarding on Your Router Open the Feedback Window. From the Tools menu select DDNS Server. If your host computer is on a private network behind a router or firewall, Port Forwarding must be enabled on the router. There are too many types of routers for us to provide specific instructions for Port Forwarding on all the various makes and models of routers in the marketplace today. The on-line help in the DVM Software provides specific instruction for Port Forwarding for some of the more popular routers in use. Fill out the form. Select the Register Button. 4 A message in the Feedback Window will indicate the success of the registration process. 4 Refer to your router s manual for specific instructions on enabling Port Forwarding. Ports 5600 and 5700 must have port forwarding enabled for single camera units and 5700 through 570 for quad camera units for the Host Computer. Quick Start Guide
4 VIEWING VIDEO REMOTELY Remote computer set-up to view images via Internet Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) provides you with either a fixed IP address or a dynamic IP address while your computer is connected to the Internet. Method A explains how to view video remotely using a fixed IP address and Method B explains how to view video remotely using a dynamic IP address. The DVM Software must be installed and running on the remote computer before you can view images remotely. TIP A. Using a Fixed IP Address While your computer is on the Internet, it is assigned an IP address. Some ISPs assign a permanent IP address that never changes. This is called a fixed IP address Select the Remote Surveillance Icon from the toolbar. 4 5 Select the Host Access Tab. Select Fixed IP from the Method pulldown menu. Select the Settings Icon from the Remote Surveillance Window. The Monitor Settings Window appears. Internet Video Security Monitoring Systems Enter the Host Computers IP address in the IP Address Field. Select OK. 8 Press Play on the Remote Surveillance toolbar. Video will appear. It may take up to 0 seconds for video to start playing.
SEE WHAT YOU VE BEEN MISSING B. Using the DDNS Address (Dynamic IP Address) Select the Remote Surveillance Icon from the toolbar. Select the Configuration Icon from the Remote Surveillance Window. Once entered, press OK. While on the Internet, your computer is assigned an IP address. Most ISPs will assign your computer an IP address randomly. This IP address can change at any time and is controlled by your ISP. This is called a dynamic IP address. 9 9 Select OK. 0 Press Play on the Remote Surveillance toolbar. Video will appear. It may take up to 0 seconds for video to start playing. Quick Start Guide
