1 Web Server Installation Overview This documentation is for clean installations with no prior Panopto software installed. For upgrade instructions, please see Upgrade to Panopto 4.6. Note: If you enter the Windows Service Control Manager snap-in and choose to stop the Panopto Web server service, please be sure to close the properties modal if you've opened it. All Service Control Manager dialogue boxes should be closed prior to installing Panopto software. Panopto v4.6 will require Windows Server 2008 R2 as the operating system. Prerequisites If you have not completed the prerequisites for this installation, please complete those steps first: Prerequisite Installation Please contact our support team at if assistance is needed. 1. Installing the Web Server 1.1. Extract the ZIP file that you have received from Panopto then locate and run PanoptoWeb.exe. The Welcome to Panopto screen will load (See Figure 1).

2 Figure On the Destination Folders screen, set the locations for where you would like to install Panopto and where you would like to store the web and data content. Click Next The Web Content Folder will be streamed via Windows Media Services and the Archival Content Folder will store the raw files uploaded from the client If installing a separate data server, just use a local disk for your web server for Archival Content Folder here. The Data Server installer will ask you for the actual location of the raw files (Fig. 2).

Also, specify the SQL Server that you will use for Panopto and click Next.. The user account that you are logged in with will need and permissions within SQL. 1.6 Create Modify After the PanoptoDB_3 database has been created, we recommend giving DB_Owner permissions to any account you use to access the Panopto server (Fig. 3).

4 Figure Before continuing, you must test the connection with credentials in order for the Panopto installation to proceed. Choose Windows Authentication or enter SQL credentials and click Test Connection. Once the connection has been verified, click Next (Fig. 4).

A support address must be specified and all s will be sent from that address. Click Next when finished (Fig. 5).

6 Figure The Panopto installer will automatically create the Domain LDAP string and specify the Domain Name. If you wish to use LDAP for authentication change these settings, if necessary and click Next (Fig. 6).

You can download the latest version of all of the Recorders from your Panopto site after the installation. The installer also enables SSL by default. Without an SSL certificate installed, the Panopto site will fail to load. For more information, please read the documentation: Enable Secure Login. When finished, click Install When the installation is finished, click Finish to close the install (Fig. 8). Figure Depending on the type of installation, you may choose to install Panopto Web Services on one server and Panopto Data Services on another server.
