1 9485 PRINTER TABLET SETUP GUIDE The Avery Dennison Monarch FreshMarx Tablet solution includes one Avery Dennison Monarch 9485FM printer the Avery Dennison FreshMarx Tablet Application a customer s product data file, created using the Avery Dennison FreshMarx EasyEdit+ Utility a customer s tablet. Use these instructions to connect the 9485FM printer to a tablet running the Tablet Application. This Setup Guide is written for the System Administrator. The System Administrator must also be familiar with the EasyEdit+ Utility. Note: O verview User Manuals for the Tablet Application and the EasyEdit+ Utility are available by selecting Help within the EasyEdit+ application. You must have an Apple Enterprise Developer account to use and distribute the Tablet Application. 1. Avery Dennison provides the unsigned FreshMarx.IPA file. 2. Customers must sign the FreshMarx.IPA file using their Apple Enterprise Developer credentials. 3. Customers may load the FreshMarx.IPA file using a Mobile Device Manager Service (MDM) or itunes. 4. Create a product data file using the EasyEdit+ Utility. 5. Load the product data file to your tablet; refer to the FreshMarx Tablet Application System Administrator s Guide. 6. Configure the 9485FM printer s wireless settings. See Configuring 9485FM Wireless Settings for more information. 7. Add the 9485FM printer to the Tablet application; refer to the FreshMarx Tablet Application System Administrator s Guide. Note: Make sure the 9485 printer is configured for the correct supply type. See Selecting the Sensor Mode for more information. 2 Configuring 9485FM Wireless Settings Download the 9485 Avery Mobile Label Printer Utility from our Web site 1. Connect the USB cable from the 9485FM printer to your computer. 2. Turn on the printer. 3. Start the Avery Mobile Label Printer Utility (version 2.10). Screens shown are for reference only. 4. Click Start Wi-Fi Settings. 2

3 5. Select USB for the Port. 6. Click Open Port. 7. Click Get Wi-Fi Information. 8. Click OK when you see Read Completed. 9. Enter the SSID, Wi-Fi Mode, Wi-Fi Encryption, Wi-Fi Authentication, and WPA Keys if necessary. 10. Enter a known IP address, NetMask, and Gateway or enable DHCP to automatically receive an IP address from your network. Note: If your network uses a DHCP server, the 9485 printer may receive a different IP address whenever it is turned off and on. 11. Click Save Wi-Fi Information. 12. Click OK when you see Save Completed. 13. Click Close Port. Make a note of the printer s IP Address. Disconnect the USB cable. The printer s display should show a network connection <T>. Press Up ( ) to display the printer s IP address. 14. Exit the Avery Mobile Label Printer Utility. 3

4 Configuring 9485 Wireless Settings for Adhoc Mode In Adhoc mode, the printer connects to the smart device without a router all devices connected to an adhoc network are called nodes. The nodes forward data to other nodes. Adhoc mode is a local area network (LAN) that does not require much configuration. 1. Download the 9485 Avery Mobile Label Printer Utility from our Web site 2. Connect the USB cable from the 9485 printer to your computer. 3. Turn on the printer. 4. Start the Avery Mobile Label Printer Utility (version 2.10). Screens shown are for reference only. 5. Click Start Wi-Fi Settings. 6. Select USB for the Port. 7. Click Open Port. 4

5 8. Click Get Wi-Fi Information. 9. Click OK when you see Read Completed. 10. Select adhoc for the Wifi Mode. 11. Enter an SSID. 12. Enter a known static IP address, sub NetMask, Gateway, and DNS. 13. Disable DHCP Settings. 14. Select a channel. 15. Set the Wi-Fi Encryption and Wi-Fi Authentication, WPA keys as necessary. 16. Click Save Wi-Fi Information. 17. Click OK when you see Save Completed. 18. Click Close Port. Make a note of the printer s IP Address. Disconnect the USB cable. The printer s display should show a network connection <T>. Press Up ( ) to display the printer s IP address. 19. Exit the Avery Mobile Label Printer Utility. 5

6 Selecting the Sensor Mode (Supply Type) The printer supports several types of supply: Setting Gap BM Lower BM Upper Non-indexed Description Use for die cut (no black mark) supplies. If your supply is die cut, with black marks, select BM upper. Use for supplies with black marks on the printing side of the supply. Use for supplies with black marks on the back (non-printing) side of supply. Use for supplies without a black mark or die cut (receipt paper). Determine what your supply type is and set the printer accordingly: 1. Press (Enter) from the "Ready" screen. 2. Press (Enter) when Tool Box is highlighted. 3. The password is (Enter), Up, Up, Up, (Enter). 4. Select Setup, press (Enter). 5. Select Printer, press (Enter). 6. Select SensorMode, press (Enter). 7. Select Gap, press (Enter). You see a message saying the printer is set to Gap supplies. Press any key to exit. 8. Scroll to Exit, press (Enter). Continue scrolling to Exit and pressing (Enter) until you see the Ready screen. 6
