1 Release Notes DriveTools SP v5.03 Software Patch This release note describes major revision 5, minor revision 3 of software for DriveTools SP. This patch is not a complete installation and only installs the necessary updated software components. You must have v3.01 v5.02 already installed on your PC in order to update to v5.03. Method #1 Launch DriveExecutive and read the revision number that is displayed in the startup window. Note the startup window is only momentarily displayed when DriveExecutive launches. If you could not read the revision in time, use Method #2 on page 2 to view the revision.

2 2 DriveTools SP v5.03 Software Patch Method #2 In DriveExecutive, select Help >> About DriveExecutive to display the About DriveExecutive Software window. The version number will be located under the DriveExecutive name on the General tab (see image below).

3 DriveTools SP v5.03 Software Patch 3 Installing the Software Patch This section describes the procedure for installing the software patch. You must have v3.01 v5.02 already installed on your PC in order to update to v Install the necessary v5.03 patch over v3.01 v5.02 on your PC. 2. Open DriveExecutive. 3. Verify the software component revisions as described below. Verifying the Software Component Revisions Method #1 Launch DriveExecutive and read the revision number that is displayed in the startup window. 4 4 DriveTools SP v5.03 Software Patch Method #2 In DriveExecutive, select Help >> About DriveExecutive to display the About DriveExecutive Software window. The version number will be located under the DriveExecutive name Enhancements This section describes the enhancements provided in this revision of software: New Light Duty (LD) Rating for PowerFlex 750-Series Drives, Frame 8 and Up PowerFlex 750-Series drives, frame 8 and up, have a new Light Duty (LD) rating. The abbreviation (LD) is now used in the Drive Rating selection box. Note: This selection will display as (F&P) in v5.01 and v5.02.

5 DriveTools SP v5.03 Software Patch 5 Identify Possible Causes When Unable to Download to a DeviceLogix Port If DeviceLogix is Logic Enabled (DeviceLogix is running) and the user attempts to download to the drive, DriveExecutive reports communication errors and will not download parameters to the DeviceLogix port. Parameter writes are not allowed to DeviceLogix while it is running. The download process was updated to notify the user with the same message DriveExplorer uses when parameter writes fail (indicates possible reasons, including DeviceLogix running). Once the user acknowledges the notification, the download will terminate for the current port and move to the next port. The user will still need to manually stop DeviceLogix ( Logic Disabled ) and initiate another download to the DeviceLogix port. Wizards v2.5 Support DriveTools SP v5.03 software patch includes the following new v2.5 wizards: PowerFlex 755 PCAM Wizard PowerFlex 755 HiP Startup Wizard (used with frame 8 and up only) PowerFlex 755 Trending Wizard These wizards are available as separate downloads ( support/abdrives/webupdate/) but are included in this software release for customer convenience. Corrected Anomalies This section describes the anomalies corrected in this revision for software: Connect to Drive Displays Behind DriveExecutive The Connect to Drive dialog launches and displays behind DriveExecutive. The Connect to Drive dialog box now displays in front of the DriveExecutive window when launched. PowerFlex 750-Series Feedback Bar Graph Partially Filled in at 0 Hz When the Show speed control feedback as bar graph option is enabled, and the value of parameter 253 [Min Fwd Spd] is larger than 0, the bar graph is shaded half way before the drive is started. When the actual speed is outside of the min/max limits, the graph is now set to the respective limit.

6 6 DriveTools SP v5.03 Software Patch PowerFlex 750-Series Feedback Display does not Update for Hz/RPM Switch The units for the feedback display are only selected upon initial connection to a PowerFlex 750-Series drive. When the user switches between Hz and RPM modes, the feedback will not update to display the new units, even though the values displayed are based on the new units. The user has to completely close DriveExecutive, then re-open and reconnect to the drive in order to have the units update. The feedback units now update when launching the ControlBar, on reconnect, or F5 refresh. High CPU Usage When Online The PC CPU could see high usage when DriveExecutive is online with a drive. Unnecessary registry keys that were causing the problem have been removed. Download Fails with 1395 DC Indicating the Drive is Running when it is not Downloads fail to execute on 1395 DC drive set up for Armature Voltage Feedback mode. Small values can show up in the feedback and when the voltages are negative, the Running Reverse status bit is set. DriveExecutive interprets the setting of this bit as an indication that the drive is running when it is not. The Running Reverse bit is a direction indicator only. DriveExecutive now only uses the Drive is Running status bit. This bit is ON when a drive is running forward or reverse. PowerFlex 753 Parameter File Download Issue After a successful parameter download to a PowerFlex 753 drive, a Database start inhibit (parameter 933, bit 5) is received and the only way to recover is to reset the drive. The download process has been updated to clear the Database start inhibit bit.

7 DriveTools SP v5.03 Software Patch 7 DriveExecutive Connected to a PowerFlex 750-Series Drive uses Hz Limits until Parameter 300 is Read When DriveExecutive first connects to a PowerFlex 750-Series drive, it assumes that Parameter 300 [Speed Units] is set to Hz and causes all speed related parameters to be limited to Hz. Once parameter 300 is read by DriveExecutive and if set to RPM, then the speed related limits are set accordingly. DriveExecutive has been updated to monitor parameters whose values affect the limits of other parameters. This causes the limits to update. Editing Custom Views and then Downloading / Uploading does not Reflect Changes Editing custom views and then either downloading or uploading does not reflect the edited changes made offline. DriveExecutive has been updated so that the default custom groups are updated in the online drive on a refresh (either F5 refresh or closing / reopening the device window). DeviceLogix Editor Error During Download The DeviceLogix Editor could error during a download and the user would have to re-initiate the download process. Updated DriveExecutive and the DeviceLogix Editor code to protect the message queues. DeviceLogix Communication Error During Logic-Enabled 12-hour Test During DeviceLogix Editor testing in which a large program was left open in the editor with logic enabled for at least 12 hours, communications errors could cause the DeviceLogix Editor and DriveExecutive to completely shut down. Communications errors from RSLinx are now handled by sending an error code to the DeviceLogix Editor, which may stop animating, but no longer cause a software crash. Every Other Right-Click on DeviceLogix Editor Element Displays Wrong Menu A mouse right-click on an element or the drawing space in the DeviceLogix Editor will result in the wrong menu displaying on every other click. DriveExecutive has been updated to display the correct menu.

8 Restrictions The following restriction applies to this revision of firmware: DriveTools SP V3.01 v5.02 DriveTools SP v3.01 v5.02 must already be installed on your PC in order for the v5.03 patch to install. If v3.01 v5.02 is not already on the PC an error message will occur stating that v3.01 v5.02 was not found.
