1. ipad Preparation The secure frame covers the ipad s volume and screen rotation/mute switch to physically restrict changes to these settings. Because of this, it s good idea to consider these setting before locking an ipad in the Secure Frame. This is particularly important if you will be locking the ipad s Home button with the cover plate or with a custom configuration profile (see section 3). a) Volume settings Set the ipad s desired volume before locking the ipad in the frame. Secure Frames with the optional home button cover will not permit volume adjustments without removing the ipad from the frame. Secure Frames without the home button cover allow volume adjustments through the ipad s user interface unless the home button locking configuration profile is enabled (see section 3). To adjust the ipad s volume, double click the home button and swipe your recently used apps twice from left to right until you see the volume control icon and mute interface. b) Screen rotation lock Set the ipad s desired screen rotation lock to the correct setting before locking the ipad in the frame. Secure Frames with the optional home button cover will not permit screen rotation adjustments without removing the ipad from the frame. Secure Frames without the home button cover permit screen rotation lock adjustments through the ipad s user interface unless the home button locking configuration profile is enabled (see section 3). To adjust the ipad s volume, double click the home button and swipe your recently used apps twice from left to right until you see the the screen rotation lock interface interface. c) Auto Lock Set the ipad s desired Auto Lock to the correct setting (typically set to off ) before locking the ipad in the frame. Secure Frames with the optional home button cover will not permit Auto Lock adjustments without removing the ipad from the frame. Secure Frames without the home button cover allow Auto Lock adjustments through the ipad s user interface unless the home button locking configuration profile is enabled (see section 3). Tablet Secure Frame Assembly and Use Guide 3 2. ipad Installation Security Screw Driver Bit Locate the small bag containing the secure driver bit and extra screw. You will need a ¼ bit driver handle to remove and install the screws. Proprietary Security Screws The frame comes with proprietary security screws and a bit that can only be ordered through ipad Secure Frame. Please store your bit in a safe place You can replace the screws with any standard #8-32 x 3/8 machine screw. Removing Screws Place the Secure Frame top down on a clean, nor abrasive surface. Remove the security screws with the security driver bit. Installing the ipad Plug the 30 pin (wide) end of the security cable into an ipad 2 or the New ipad (ipad 3). Turn the frame right side up and slide the opposite end of the ipad into the frame at an angle so the end of the ipad slides under the lip of the frame. Draft 1.4 September 2013 Page 3 of 8
Installing the Secure Cable (portrait) (Option 1) For portrait displays, place the steel ferrule of the security cable in the cut-out across from the power connector. Loop the extra cord in the cord channel in the frame. Installing secure cover (portrait) Make sure the ipad is pressed firmly into the frame and then carefully align and snap the top cover squarely into place. The lip on the top cover should overlap the ipad. Installing the Secure Cable (landscape) (Option 2) For landscape displays, place the steel ferrule of the security cable in the cut-out across leading out of the long side of the frame. Arrange the internal cord so it is not covering the screw hole on the back of the frame. [Type text]
Tablet Secure Frame Assembly and Use Guide 5 Installing secure cover (landscape) Make sure the ipad is pressed firmly into the frame and then carefully align and snap the top cover squarely into place. The lip on the top cover should overlap the ipad. Securing the cover While holding the cover firmly in place, turn the frame and ipad upside down. Double check that the cover is squarely seated and the internal cord is not pinched. Replace the two security screws, hand tightening until snug. Terminating the Secure Cable anchor Identify a secure fixed surface on which to anchor the security plate. You can use any type of high tension screws or bolts. Connecting ipad power supply Plug the USB end of the secure power cable into the ipad power supply and connect to 110v AC. Your Secure Frame is now ready for business. Restarting ipad without opening A small pinhole provides paperclip access to the Power Button for turning off or restarting the ipad without opening the frame. A camera port allows the ipad s back-mounted camera to be used. ipad speaker port The Secure Frame contains a speaker port that channels the sound from the ipad s back speaker through the front of the frame. Optional home button cover While a configuration script can be used to disable the home button (see below). An optional home button cover plate can be ordered separately. [Type text]

Locking the ipad s Home button via configuration profile Apple provides a script that allows you to lock an ipad s Home button so it is nonfunctional until the script is removed. This is desirable if you want to limit users to accessing only one application. The following describes the process for activating and removing the script. Loading the profile: 1) Open Safari on the ipad you wish to disable 2) Go to http://www.ipadsecureframe.com/hbkill.mobileconfig 3) The ipad s configuration settings will open as ask if you want to install the Home Button Disable configuration profile. Confirm. 4) Click Install 5) Shut down the ipad by turning the power completely off holding down the Power Button 6) Restart the ipad by pressing the Power Button down. 7) Launch the App you want to run in locked mode. Note: you will be locked into the first App you run after the restart 8) The App will run and the Home button will be disabled Disabling the profile: 1) Shut down the ipad by turning the power completely off holding down the Power Button 2) Restart the ipad by pressing the Power Button down. 3) Launch the ipad Settings App 4) Select the General Settings tab 5) Scroll down to the Profiles menu on the right side of the screen 6) Click on the Home Button Lock profile 7) Click the red Remove button and confirm 8) Shut down the ipad by turning the power completely off holding down the Power Button 9) Restart the ipad by pressing the Power Button down. 10) The profile will be removed and the Home Button is enabled Draft 1.4 September 2013 Page 7 of 8
