Application and description The program has been designed for the parameterization of intelligent power transducer. With the program it is possible to create parameterizations and store them on hard disks, even without having a device connected. The parameterization can be downloaded from the the hard disk into a device at any time. With the program it is possible to print out parameterization data and rating plates for the transducer. The program also has an on-line mode in which the measured variables can be displayed on the PC monitor as analog and digital indicators. This Abridged Manual provides only information about Installation, How to establish a connection, Creating parameterizations with a device connected and Creating parameterizations without a device connected and Passwords. More detailed information can be found in the on-line help. Installation and start off 1. System requirements PC IBM-PC and 100 % compatible PCs with 80486 oder Pentium processor Operating MS-DOS 6 or higher with MS-Windows 3.1x System or MS-Windows 95 Memory min. 4 MByte RAM, 8 MByte recommended Hard disk min. 3 MByte free disk space Floppy operation not possible Graphics card at least VGA Mouse obligatory Interface serial RS-232, preferably with UART 16550 (FIFO) 2. Installation Windows 3.1x 1. Start up Windows. 2. Insert program disk 1 of 2 into the floppy drive. 3. The program group is stored in the start menu. 2. Start off Double click the program icon in the program group. The program is started. Application and description Installation and start off 3

Establishing the device connection Before communication with the device is possible, the type of the particular connection has to be defined. The device can either be parameterized via standard serial RS- 232/LKS interface or via the optional RS-485 interface. Furthermore, a remote parametrization via modem is possible (requires additional hardware). Before a device can be parameterized via the RS-485 interface or via modem, the communication data (baud rate, address, protocol) must be transmitted via the RS-232/LKS interface to the unit: Preparing the connection 1. Select Options Setup. If the program has been newly installed, the window does not contain any connections yet. 2. Select [New]. If this menu is called up at a later date, the previously defined connections will be displayed in this window. An existing connection can be modified with [Edit]. Z-18977 Edit connection 1. Select Options Setup. 2. Select [Edit]. Short name of the connection with a maximum of 8 characters (suggestion: CONx with x as consecutive number). After stating the other data, a new directory with this name will be created under the installation directory. If this connection is active, the associated parameterization files will be stored in this subdirectory. Notice Under Options -> Setup a different directory can be provided as basic directory. Description Z-18978 of the connection. This text will also be displayed in the Select connection window. (Examples: LKS adapter on COM 1 or RS-485 connection on COM 3, MODBUS or Trafo station 4, Frankfort (via modem) ). Type RS 232 Point-to-point connection, communication via RS-232 interface of the PC with LKS adapter to the unit. 4 Establishing the device connection

RS 485 Bus connection that enables up to 31 devices to communicate. The device has to be equipped with the (RS-485) bus interface (option) and a suitable interface card or interface converter RS- 232 / RS-485 must be available on the PC side. Modem Communication via telephone network. The device has to be equipped with the (RS-485) bus interface (option). Additional hardware is required for modem operation. Interface: Protocol which can be selected (except for RS-232 connection) (for example MODBUS RTU). PC address not necessarily to be altered. Take care that no device connected to this connection uses the same address. Port to which the device is connected. Interfaces provided in the PC (COM 1... COM 44) are automatically recognized and displayed. Baudrate sets the baudrate (except for RS-232 connection). It must correspond to the baud rate set in the device. Control signal for communication via RS-485. Depending on the interface components used on the PC side, the control signals for changing over from transmission to reception must be addressed in different ways. Modem: Dial mode selects between pulse or tone dialing. Telephone number of the remote station. Volume of the loudspeaker during dialing. After having entered all data, save the connection with [OK]. Establish connection 1. Select Connection Select connection. A list of all connections defined is displayed. 2. Select the desired connection and ackowledge with [OK]. 3. Select Connection Establish connection. In case of RS-232 connection the device will respond with its technical data if it is properly connected. Z-18979 In case of an RS 485 connection, the interface is scanned for devices connected to it upon first call-up. Any devices diskovered are then listed in a window with their device address and tag no. The required device can then be selected. On subsequent call ups of this connection, only the previously listed devices will be checked in order to find out whether they are still available. Should one or several devices be missing, an error message will be displayed. If more units have been connected to this line, select menu item Scan in order to identify the new devices. The selected device can now be parameterized. In case of connection via modem, the stored telephone number will be dialed and the phone connection established. After that the procedure to follow is the same as for RS485 connections. Establishing the device connection 5

Creating a parameterization with a device connected 1. Establish connection to device. 2. Select File > Load from device. The device specifications and its serial number are loaded. 3. Select Edit > Input. For support when filling out the following parameter masks, the help function can be called up with [Help]. Creating a parameterization with a device connected 1. Select File> New. 2. Select Edit > Device Specification. The data entered here must be compatible with those of the unit into which the parameters will be loaded later. If not, an error message will occur when trying to load the incompatible parameterization into the device. 3. Select Edit > Input. For support when filling out the following parameter masks, the help function can be called up with [Help]. Passwords The program provides two access modes: - Maintenance (mode) or - Expert mode. After completing the installation, both password are empty, i.e. the passwords are not requested on starting the program. The expert mode is automatically assumed. Users with the Maintenance access have limited possibilities. They can read the parameter data of the unit, they can create new parameterizations and save them to the hard disk, the can call up the on-line display of the measured values. With this access it is not possible to alter the parameters of a device or to load new parameters into a device. Changing passwords 1. Select Options > Change Password. 2. Enter the old password (no input is required foe newly installed software). 3. Input the new password twice in the fields provided. The passwords are stored in coded form. Should a password be forgotten, the program must be reinstalled. The passwords are then reset. 6
