Davidson County Schools PowerSchool Parent Portal rollout is scheduled for March 31, 2014. PowerSchool Parent Portal offers access to real- Ame grades, adendance, assignments and much more.right from the teacher s gradebook to the parent. Parents will receive a leder which includes the web address to the parent portal, and the access id and password needed for sejng up the parent account. Principals will release this informaaon as directed by Dr. Morrow. 1
Mozilla Firefox is the recommended internet browser for all PowerSchool applicaaons. Enter the URL seen at the top of this slide into the address bar of your internet browser. The Parent Sign In screen will appear. This page allows parents to establish their own account. The first step is for the parent to Create Account. Link: Learn More Create a Parent Account A parent account allows you to view the informaaon for one or more students with a single sign in. You can also manage your personal account preferences. 2
One Access ID and Password will be issued per student. In custody situaaons, addiaonal Parent/Guardian accounts may be requested in person at the school office with a photo id. The first secaon on this page is the informaaon necessary to establish the parent s account. All fields in this secaon are required, and include the following: First Name Last Name Email Desired Username Password Re- enter Password The second secaon on the page, Link Students to Account, requires that the informaaon for at least one student be provided, and includes the following: Link Students to Account Student Name Access ID 3
You will be redirected to the Parent Sign In screen, where you will see a message of CongratulaAons about your new account. Enter your newly created Username and Password, then click Sign In. Having trouble signing in? In the event that you forget a username or password, click this link. 4
Forgot Password: Simply enter your Username and Email Address in the space provided, then press enter.. Forgot Username: Simply enter your Email Address, then press enter, PowerSchool will send and email which includes your username. The Forgot Password Email Sent message box will pop up advising that and email with instrucaons for resejng your password has been sent. 5
Enter your newly created Username and Password, then click Sign In. 6
When you sign in to PowerSchool Parent Portal, the start page appears. This page serves as the central point from which you begin your Parent Portal session. Wherever you are in the applicaaon, clicking the Home Base Parent Portal logo will bring you back to this start page. Parents should see their name in the top right of the screen when signed in. All items in blue are links to another page of informaaon. Also in the top right of the screen is a Help feature, and Sign Out feature when parents are through viewing their child s informaaon The Grades and ADendance page displays comprehensive (involving much) informaaon about a student s grades and adendance for the current term. The legend at the bodom of the page displays the adendance codes and their meanings. To view adendance data for dropped classes, click Show dropped classes also. To view adendance for the current two week period, see Last Week and This Week. Courses that are in progress are listed with teacher name. 7
The Test Results screen will be blank unal test imports are complete for Davidson County. 8
Use this page to view quarter and semester grades for the student for the previous term. To view previous quarters assignments and grades, click the blue grade in the % column. The arrow poinang up & right brings out the North Carolina Educator EffecAveness System (NCEES) link. Parents will not be able to access this applicaaon. 9
The ADendance History page displays informaaon about a student s adendance record for the current term. The legend at the bodom of the page displays the adendance codes and their meanings. 10
This page allows parents to customize their email preferences for each student associated to their account. 11
The Teacher Comments page displays any comment that a teacher has entered regarding a student, such as a student s achievement or behavior. Davidson County does not use ADendance Points. 12
The School BulleAn page serves as your school s message board whereby your school can post a variety of informaaon for you to view. 13
Using the Class RegistraAon page in PowerSchool Parent, students and their parents can manage their course requests. We will not use this funcaon at this Ame. 14
My Calendars is a tool to help parents and students stay on top of daily events and beder manage their Ame. My Calendars operates in conjuncaon with icalendar, a personal desktop calendar applicaaon, whereby you can subscribe to and receive informaaon about class assignments, assignment scores, final grades, and school events. Note: In order to use My Calendars, you must first have installed a personal desktop calendar applicaaon on your computer that supports the icalendar standard, such as ical for Macintosh, Windows Calendar for Windows Vista or Microsoo Outlook. 15

The Account Preferences page provides you with the ability to manage your parent account informaaon, including your name, user name, password, and email address. In addiaon, you can add any and all students for whom you have legal and parental rights to your account in order to view their informaaon by way of your account. 17
