Your new password must be at least 6 characters long, does not require upper or lower case letters, and does not require numbers. Enter your new password into both the New Password and the Confirm boxes. Click on the Students tab and proceed with browsing through your child s data. Logging in thereafter: Use your full email address with your new password and you will be taken directly to your Home page with the Students tab defaulted. Remember to stay within the Schooltool screen while in Schooltool don t use your browser buttons at the top. Continue to the next page for instructions on finding your child s information within Schooltool

You are automatically defaulted to the Student tab where you will see your child/children listed: This screen welcomes you to Schooltool and lists today s date, the current cycle day, and the school name. There are three other tabs available to you: Campus this tab simply repeats the welcome information and displays pictures of your districts school buildings. Account this tab is where you will go to reset your password if you ve forgotten it or simply want to change it. This tab also shows you your login history. Messages this tab will display any messages the district may want to make available to parents. Note: the Help icon in the upper right: Use this icon anytime to view information about the screen you are currently on. This will give you a quick overview about that page. This icon is available throughout Schooltool. Continue to the next page for information on the Contacts tab

Select your child by clicking on the blue arrow on the left of their name/address, you will then see this screen containing your child s demographic information and contacts: Note: the envelope icon before the counselors name you can email the counselor by clicking on the envelope icon which will open an email screen. You are defaulted to the Contacts tab which lists the contacts associated with your child/children. Note: the icons to the right of the contacts name. The house icon means this contact is the primary contact; the paper/envelope icon means that this contact can receive district mailings; the green up arrow indicates that this contact is allowed to pick up the child; the computer monitor means this contact is a candidate for a parent portal account. The green text listed below your child s photo is locator text and will reflect where your child is throughout the day. Any siblings are listed at the bottom, under Siblings. Continue to the next page for information on the Scheduling tab

The schedule tab allows you to view and print your child s schedule. You are defaulted to the Standard view but also have the option to view/print the grid view. Simply click on the printer icon print: in the upper left of the schedule to Note: you can email any teacher by clicking on the envelope icon in front of their name OR you can email all teachers at once by clicking on the envelope icon in the Teacher column header. Continue to the next page to view information on the Attendance tab

The Attendance tab will show your child s absences for the year: Note: you have a drop down to select the school year. As time goes by, this drop down will include prior school years. Continue to the next page to see information on the Grades tab

The grades tab will show grading information up to the last completed marking period when you select "Marking Period Grades" from the View drop down. This is the same information that you will see on your child s report card. Note: To see your child's current grade book average, choose "Marking Period Average" from the View drop down. Then select the next upcoming MP from the "for" drop down. This will give you the current running average for that class. So, if you choose a marking period that has already been completed, you will see the average your child had at that point in time. If you choose the next upcoming MP, you will see the current average for that class. Note: You have drop downs along the top for school year, type of grades, and for marking period (including progress reporting periods). Note: You have an envelope icon in front of each teachers name for emailing purposes. Continue to the next page for information on the Assignments tab

The final tab available to you is the Assignments tab. This tab shows all assignments a teacher has entered in their grade book for whatever year, marking period, and course you have selected from the available drop downs along the top: When you hover over each of the column headers, the cursor will change into a hand meaning that you can sort that column by clicking once on the column header. You will probably sort by course name or teacher name most often. The Assignment Date column lists the date the assignment is DUE. If you do not see a score for a student, this means the teacher has not yet entered one. Please give the teachers a reasonable amount of time to enter their grades. Keep in mind that things like papers/reports/projects may take longer to grade than other assignments and the teacher may need a little more time to grade and enter these scores. If a teacher is using attributes and has assigned one to a particular assignment for your child, you will see the attribute in brackets [ ]. When you hover over the attribute you will see the title and the point adjustment, if any. When an attribute with a point adjustment is used, you will see your child s actual score reflected in parentheses ( ). If you see any incorrect data entered on your child/children, please contact your building principal. Also, if you have any questions or concerns regarding Parent Portal, please notify your building principal. THESE INSTRUCTIONS AS WELL AS A VIDEO TUTORIAL ARE AVAILABLE ON THE ELMIRA HEIGHTS DISTRICT WEBSITE AS WELL ON THE PAGES FOR COHEN MIDDLE AND TAE GO TO EITHER OF THESE PAGES AND CLICK ON "PARENT PORTAL" AT THE LEFT.
