Product Component Administration Console Indexing Station Verification Station Scanning Station IFilter Administration Console Indexing Station Verification Station Scanning Station OpenApi Administrator s Guide EULA Recognition Server IFilter Autorun Japanese Localization User Interface Help and Documentation (New!) (New!) No No User Interface of Setup Programs Office document processing using the Web API Office files (DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, etc.) can now be processed using the Web API. To process an Office file, specify the source file name and extension in the FileName property of the FileContainer object. The FileName property has been added to the FileContainer object. FileName String Stores the file name and extension If the FileName property not specified: the unique GUID of the image file will be used as output file name; the processing of office files will fail with an unrecognized file format error. Please note that the Web API has been updated. The Web API version used in Recognition Server 4 Release 5 with Japanese Help Files is Recognition4WS.v4. If you used the default version of the Web API at http://localhost/recognition4ws/rssoapservice.asmx in your project code, make sure your project functions correctly or see the Compatibility of the COM and Web API with earlier versions of the product article of the Open API help file for instructions. Rotatable document view on the Indexing Station Commands that rotate the document image have been added to the View menu in order to make it easier to read documents during manual indexing. Click View > Rotate Left or View > Rotate Right to rotate the document. Please note that the rotation commands only change the way the document is displayed on the Indexing Station. They do not affect the quality of text on pages or the way pages are exported. ABBYY. All rights reserved. Page 4 of 8

MAPI failures are now logged with specific error descriptions instead of the ambiguous Unspecified error description. Installation fixes Fixed the error that occurred while registering the RS.MapiConnector.x86.dll library when installing Recognition Server using the ABBYY Recognition Server 4.0.msi file (instead of Setup.exe or Autorun.exe) [applies to RS4 R5 Patch1 only, build # 4.0.6.126] Installing IFilter on the same computer as Recognition Server will no longer uninstall Recognition Server Memory leak and CPU loading issues have been fixed [released in Release 5 Patch 1] Fixed memory leaks in the OCRServer.exe and the OCRStation.exe processes Fixed excessive CPU loads caused by Workflow.exe after publishing the first file Fixed error where the MaxProcessorProcessedPages setting did not work on stations with the Preprocessing role and caused a NotEnoughMemory issue ABOUT THE PRODUCT About the Product Version ABBYY Recognition Server 4 provides new technology, including significantly improved recognition of texts in Arabic, new export settings, and other technology improvements. The main server features, such as stability, performance, and auto-recovery have been revised and improved. The new version can also process document libraries stored in read-only or editable folders. Other improvements include advanced logging, GUI changes, and bug fixes. The main changes are described in the history below. Installing the Product Version Recognition Server 4 can be installed on the same computer where Recognition Server 3.5 or earlier is installed. The configuration settings used in a previous version of ABBYY Recognition Server can be imported into ABBYY Recognition Server 4. For further information, please see the section Upgrade from the previous versions of ABBYY Recognition Server in the System Administrator s Guide. Note: please be aware that some changes have been made to the XML result file comparing to version 3.5. This may require changes in the software used for integrating ABBYY Recognition Server with data storage systems. For details, refer to the XML Result section in the Help file. License Usage Recognition Server 4 cannot work with licenses generated for previous versions of Recognition Server (3.5 and earlier). Recognition Server 4 can work with a license generated for Recognition Server Arabic Edition, but since some of the license parameters have been changed (ISIS option has been added), we recommend generating new licenses for Recognition Server 4 Release 1 (for 3A), Recognition Server Release 1 and other maintenance releases.
