Introduction iq-view/pro is a DICOM 3.0 compliant software application for reading, viewing and processing medical image data. With the help of this software, data from every DICOM 3.0 compliant modality but also from other sources like email, CD or DVD can be queried, retrieved and imported. iq-view/pro is a powerful reading and acquisition station, which includes many useful features. This short tutorial will explain some of the most commonly used features and demonstrate how to apply them in just a few simple steps. For a comprehensive overview on iq-view/pro and its usage, we recommend the Instructions for Use. 3

Import of DICOM MEDIA You can import DICOM studies from your CD/DVD into the local imagebox. The same procedure would apply when importing DICOM studies from a hard disk, another computer on a network or a memory stick. To import DICOM media, insert the CD/DVD/USB into your computer, select the Filesystem tab and select the respective drive. Afterwards you can either right-click on the drive and choose the scan folder option or click the scan folder button directly. Or simply drag individual DICOM files, folders or zip archives containing DICOM objects onto the Filesystem table. If applicable, you will be asked whether to use a found DICOMDIR or not - note that using a DICOMDIR is faster but can also be less reliable due to possibly missing study information in that directory file. All DICOM studies found on the medium will be listed. Select the studies you wish to import into the local imagebox by pressing the View button. The images are automatically displayed in the viewer after the importing procedure. 4

Comparing Images By comparing images or whole series of one or several studies you can get an idea of the dimension of structural changes. All image processing functions (e.g. measurements) of the toolbar can be applied to any of the images while doing the comparison. Select all studies you wish to compare either by pressing CTRL while selecting them or by marking the checkboxes of those studies. Afterwards click the View button to load them into the viewer. Use the screen tiling function on series level to divide the image processing area into different views. Click the + button on the top right to open the second preview bar. The second series preview bar will be opened and all series thumbnails of the second study will appear. Add the series of the second study to the image processing area by dragging and dropping the thumbnail image into the right view. 5

synchronizing different series Sync synchronizes different series at the current position, even if the images of those series are made of differently thick slices. Activating the button will synchronize all series displayed in the image processing area. Load the series you wish to synchronize into available views. Bring all views to the same anatomic position by browsing through the series. To turn on the synchronizing mode simply click the Sync button located at the top of the side toolbar. Use the mouse wheel to scroll through the synchronized series. The synchronization of different series is also possible by selecting other views besides the activated one (orange frame). Activating the Sync button on the left side toolbar is not necessary. To synchronize individual series click into the view you wish to include in the sychronization while holding the [CTRL] key pressed. A little sync icon will be shown in the included views. Now use your mouse to scroll through the synced series. Hold the mouse over one of the included views. 6

BIND mode 1 2 3 The Bind mode allows you to scroll through series without switching from one view to the next, e.g. to easily browse through brainstem and brain tissue as if they were one series or browse as shown through all series of a lumbar spine MRI. 1 Load the study into the viewer and select Bind in the left toolbar. After scrolling through the first stack of images, the next series will automatically follow. 2 2 All currently loaded series of one study are virtually bound together in one view. 3 7

SCope Function - series vs. image With the Scope (or viewport) function you can select whether changes made to an image, e.g. windowing, zoom/pan, flip/rotate, etc., shall be applied only to the current image or the whole series. When selecting scope on series level...... all changes to windowing, zoom/ pan, flip/rotate, etc. are applied to all images within the same series. When selecting scope on image level...... all changes to windowing, zoom/ pan, flip/rotate, etc. are applied to the selected image only. 8

Secondary Capture A secondary capture image permanently stores a copy of the original image with all changes that have been made to it (e.g. measurements, annotations, zoom, rotation). To save measurements and annotations: CTRL + SPACE will create a secondary capture and append it to the study SHIFT + SPACE creates a new secondary capture series This secondary capture image shows the zoomed-in DICOM image. This secondary capture image shows the zoomed and annotated DICOM image. This secondary capture image shows the new windowing of the DICOM image. 9

Presentation States Presentation States (PR) are independent DICOM objects containing information on how an image should be displayed. The PR may, for example, contain measurements, windowing, rotation and zooming information, but it does not contain pixel data. PR can only be used in combination with an existing DICOM image. PR objects can only be saved with the iq-view PRO edition. The PR displays visual specifications only, therefore the pixel data of the DICOM image is not modified but rather displayed differently. When storing PR, it is possible to store all changes that have been applied or specific changes only. + + + + This PR contains the zooming information of the DICOM image. This PR contains the zooming and annotation information of the DICOM image. This PR contains the windowing information of the DICOM image. 10

Configuring buttons FOR the bottom toolbar To easily access your most important image processing functions with just one click, you may configure your own toolbar as shown. The Tools selection of the viewer can be opened: 1. by a right mouseclick into an empty area of the toolbar or 2. by going to Additional settings and selecting Tools selection or 3. by using a defined shortcut (default [T]). It is possible to either configure one default, workstation-based toolbar or to create modality-dependent toolbars using general hanging protocols (the latter only in iq-view PRO; for further information, refer to the Instructions for Use). All available tools will be listed in the dialog. At the bottom of the dialog you will see your current toolbar which by default consists of 12 configurable buttons. By pressing the arrow down button, the new tool selection will be added or will replace the button of the current toolbar that is marked. By pressing the arrow up button, the selected button of the current toolbar is removed. Make as many changes to the toolbar as you wish. Save all changes by pressing the button Save as default in the top left corner of the window. After clicking on Save as default, the new toolbar is displayed each time the viewer is opened. 11
