Other Points Do not take off the cover of the equipment; otherwise you could be injured or get an electric shock. Make sure that there is enough space around the system to facilitate changing of parts, maintenance and clearing paper jam. If there is insufficient space, some operations, such as bypass feeding, will become difficult and the Multifunctional Digital Color Systems could even break down. To insure optimal operation, allow clearances of at least 31.5" / 80 cm on the right, and 3.9" / 10 cm on the left and behind. 10 cm 3.9" Left Rear Equipment Front 10 cm 3.9" Right 80 cm 31.5" The socket outlet shall be installed near the equipment and be easily accessible. System Requirements To install the printer drivers on a Windows computer, the following is required. Installing the Printer Driver Installing the Printer Driver for SMB Printing PREPARATIONS: Before installing the printer driver to use SMB printing, please make sure of the following: If a previous version of the printer driver has been installed on the system, it must be removed. (For instructions on how to remove the printer driver, refer to the Printing from Windows.) The GA-1310/E printer is connected to the network and turned on. The TCP/IP setting is completed correctly. The Windows Printing is completed correctly. The following describes an installation on Windows Vista. The procedure is the same when other versions of Windows are used. 1 Open the GA-1310/E printer in the network with Windows Explorer, and double-click a queue in which the printer driver should be installed. print - print jobs are spooled to the hard disk in the GA-1310/E printer and printed out. Use this queue for general printing. direct - print jobs are sent straight to the printer without spooling. hold - print jobs are held until users operate copying or moving them to the Print queue with the job management tools. You cannot change the order of print jobs by moving them, which are sent to the direct queue. 2 When you are using Window Vista, proceed to the next step. When you are using Windows operating system other than Windows Vista, proceed to step 4. The Printers dialog box asking you to install the printer driver is displayed. Click [Install driver]. Continue the operation to configure the option settings on the printer driver. P.39 Configuring the Option The installed printer driver varies depending on the Set Driver Type setting. When the Set Driver Type setting is set to PCL, the PCL printer driver is installed. Installing the Printer Driver for LPR Printing PREPARATIONS: Before installing the printer driver to use LPR printing, please make sure of the following: The GA-1310/E printer is connected to the network and turned on. The TCP/IP setting is completed correctly. The LPD Printing is completed correctly. The TCP/IP protocol is installed and configured correctly on your Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Server 2003. REQUIREMENTS: You must log into Windows as a user who has the Administrators or Power Users privilege. To install the printer driver to use LPR printing, configure the LPR port first, and then install the printer driver using the installer in the User Software (Drivers). The following describes an installation on Windows Vista. The procedure is the same when other versions of Windows are used. 1 Click [Start], select [Control Panel] and click [Printer] under [Hardware and Sound] to open the Printers folder. If you are using the Windows 2000, click [Start], select [Settings], and click [Printers] to open the Printers folder. If you are using the Windows XP/ 2003 Server, click [Start] and click [Printers and Faxes] to open the Printers and Faxes folder. Installing the Printer Driver 21

5 Select [TCP/IP Device] in the [Device type] box, enter the IP address of the GA-1310/E printer in the [Hostname or IP address] box, and click [Next]. When you use a WINS server, enter the print server name of the GA- 1310/E printer provided from the WINS server in the [Hostname or IP address] box. In the [Port name] box, the port name is automatically entered according to the IP address or printer name entered in the [Hostname or IP address] box. 6 When you are using Windows Vista and the IP address specified in step 5 is correct, the Install the printer driver screen appears. Proceed to step 9. When you are using Windows Vista and the IP address specified in step 5 is not correct, the Additional Port Information Required screen appears. Proceed to the next step. When you are using Windows operating system other than Windows Vista, the Additional Port Information Required screen appears. Proceed to the next step. Select [Custom] and click [Settings]. The Configure Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor dialog box appears. Installing the Printer Driver 23
2 INSTALLING THE PRINTER DRIVER (Windows) 7 Select [LPR] at the [Protocol] option, enter a queue name in the [Queue Name] box at the [LPR Settings] option, and click [OK]. In the [Queue Name] box, you have to enter a queue name, direct, hold, or print, on the GA-1310/E printer. Enter a queue depending on how you want to print. print - print jobs are spooled to the hard disk in the GA-1310/E printer and printed out. Use this queue for general printing. direct - print jobs are sent straight to the printer without spooling. hold - print jobs are held until users operate copying or moving them to the Print queue with the job management tools. You can also enable the LPR Byte Counting by selecting the [LPR Byte Counting Enabled] check box. You cannot change the order of print jobs by moving them, which are sent to the direct queue. 24 Installing the Printer Driver
If you have enabled Port 9100 printing at the GA-1310/E control panel, you can set up Port 9100 printing as well. When you want to set up Port 9100 printing, select [Raw] at the [Protocol] option, and enter the port number in the [Port Number] box at the [Raw Settings] option. The port number is different for each print connection as following: 9101 - use direct queue for printing. 9100 (default) or 9102 - use print queue for printing. 9103 - use hold queue for printing. 8 Click [Next]. The Locate File dialog box appears. 12 13 Locate the directory where the printer driver that you want to install is located, select the oemsetup.inf file, and click [Open]. GA-1310/E printer - PS printer driver GA-1310 PS v1.0 (for North America) GA-1310E PS v1.0 (for Europe) - PCL printer driver GA-1310 PCL v1.0 (for North America) GA-1310E PCL v1.0 (for Europe) Change the name as required and click [Next]. The User Account Control dialog box appears. If any other printer driver(s) had already been installed on your computer, the Default Printer screen is displayed. If it is displayed, select whether using this printer as a default printer. 16 When you are using Windows Vista, proceed to the next step. When you are using Windows operating system other than Windows Vista, proceed to step 18. Click [Continue]. The Windows Security dialog box appears. 17 Click [Install this driver software anyway]. In this case, select whether to share the printer with network clients, and click [Next] to proceed to this step. Make sure that a test page is printed successfully and click [Close] to close the screen. 20 Click [Finish]. Installing the Printer Driver for IPP Printing PREPARATIONS: Before installing the printer driver to use IPP printing, please make sure of the following: The GA-1310/E printer is connected to the network and turned on. 5 Select [Select a shared printer by name], enter http://[ip address]/ipp/[queue name] in the edit box, and click [Next]. Enter the IP address of GA-1310/E printer instead of [IP address]. Enter a queue name that you want to use instead of [queue name] depending on how you want to print. print - print jobs are spooled to the hard disk in the GA-1310/E printer and printed out. Use this queue for general printing. direct - print jobs are sent straight to the printer without spooling. hold - print jobs are held until users operate copying or moving them to the Print queue with the job management tools. Example: - IP address = 172.16.16.150 - Queue = print - http://172.16.16.150/ipp/print When you use the WINS server, enter the print server name of the GA-1310/E printer instead of [IP address]. Example: - Print Server Name = Server- 907043 - Queue = print - http://server-907043/ipp/print If you are using the Windows 2000/XP/ 2003 Server, select [Connect to a printer on the Internet or on your intranet], enter "http://[ip address]/ipp/[queue name]" in the [URL] box, and click [Next]. Installing the Printer Driver for Novell Printing PREPARATIONS: Before installing the printer driver to use Novell printing, please make sure of the following: The GA-1310/E printer is connected to the network and turned on. The TCP/IP setting is completed correctly. (Required only when you want to use Fiery WebSetup or using the printer with NetWare server 5.x in the TCP/IP network.) The IPX/SPX and NetWare settings are completed correctly. REQUIREMENTS: The NetWare server is configured correctly and running on your network. The TCP/IP protocol is installed and configured correctly on your Windows computer. (Required only when using the NetWare server 5.x in the TCP/IP network.) The NWLink IPX/SPX Compatible Transport protocol and NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol are installed on your Windows computer. (Required only when using the Net- Ware server in the IPX/SPX network.) The Gateway (and Client) Services for NetWare is installed on your Windows computer. You have an appropriate privilege to access to the NetWare server. You cannot print through the NetWare print server from Windows Vista. The following describes an installation on Windows XP. 2 INSTALLING THE PRINTER DRIVER (Windows) 1 Open the NetWare server (when using in bindery mode) or NDS directory tree (when using in NDS or NDPS mode) in the Network Neighborhood with the Windows Explorer, and double-click a queue. Select a queue depending on how you want to print. [given name]_print - print jobs are spooled to the hard disk in the GA- 1310/E printer and printed out. Use this queue for general printing. [given name]_direct - print jobs are sent straight to the printer without spooling. [given name]_hold - print jobs are held until users operate copying or moving them to the Print queue with the job management tools. When using the NetWare 5.x in NDPS mode and the printer drivers for each Operating System are installed to a NDPS broker, the printer driver is automatically installed. Unless using the NetWare 5.x in NDPS mode and printer drivers for each Operating System are installed to a NDPS broker, the Add Printer Wizard dialog box appears. Continue to the next step. You cannot change the order of print jobs by moving them, which are sent to the direct queue. The queue names created on the NetWare server should be either [given name]_print, [given name]_direct, [given name]_hold ([given name] can be any name). Those queues correspond to the GA-1310/E printer s queues, Print, Direct, and Hold. 2 Click [OK]. The Add Printer Wizard dialog box appears. 36 Installing the Printer Driver

Configuring the Option After you complete the installation of printer drivers, you should configure the option settings on the printer driver. There are two methods to configure the options; When the GA-1310/E printer and your computer is not connected in the TCP/IP V4 network, you can configure the options manually. P.39 Configuring the Options Manually When the GA-1310/E printer and your computer is connected in the TCP/IP V4 network, you can configure the options automatically obtaining the settings using the Two-Way Communication. P.42 Configuring the Options Automatically Configuring the Options Manually For SMB Printing: When users install the printer driver for SMB printing, only a user who log into the computer or domain using the user name Administrator can configure the option settings on the printer driver. The options settings which are set by the Administrator are automatically applied to the other users printer driver for SMB printing. The following describes an operation on Windows Vista. If you are using the Windows 2000, click [Start], select [Settings], and click [Printers] to open the Printers folder. If you are using the Windows XP/ 2003 Server, click [Start] and click [Printers and Faxes] to open the Printers and Faxes folder. 2 Right-click the printer driver icon and select [Properties] from the menu. The procedures is the same when other versions of Mac OS X are used. Installing the PPD Files 1 2 Insert the User Software (Drivers) into the DVD-ROM drive. The User Software icon appears on the desktop. Double-click the OSX Installer located in the OSX:Printer Driver folder in the User Software (Drivers). The Authenticate dialog box appears. 3 Enter the user name and password that has an administrator privilege, and click [OK]. The License screen appears. 4 Click [Accept]. Creating the Printer 1 Start the Printer Setup Utility (or Print Center in Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later), located in the Applications: Utilities folder in the Boot Disk. The Printer List screen appears. 2 Click [Add]. When using the OS X 10.4, proceed to step 4. 3 Select [AppleTalk] in the box and select the zone name that the GA-1310/E printer is located. [Server Name]_Direct - print jobs are sent straight to the printer without spooling. Printing a Booklet When you want to print a booklet from a portrait document or a landscape document, follow the procedure below. 1 2 3 Click on the [File] menu from an application, and select [Print]. Select [Printer Features] in the drop down box. Select [Finishing 1] in the [Feature Sets] box and select [Reverse] in the [Page Order] box. 4 Select [Collate] in the [Sorter Mode] box.
