Setting up your Classroom Computer Each classroom is equipped with a teacher desktop computer, ipad, laptop, Elmo, projector, and phone. Some rooms have student computers as well. Where the network cable comes down from the ceiling is where you must locate your desk and computer. We have lines in these locations for a reason and cannot move them to another area in the room. Do not set the Desktops on the floor. They must be placed on your desk, or a table or something sturdy. You will receive one hour Technology in-service credit for setting up your computer. Please be sure to list this in your ESC account for proper credit. List the event as Setting up your computer. It is our District Technology Policy that employee s will not download any software, screen savers, photo s or music onto your classroom computer. Do not change any settings or backgrounds. Technology will change your computer back to the original settings if any of these changes are found. It is your responsibility to keep your monitor, CPU, and keyboard clean and dust free during the year. Not maintenance or custodial department. No food or drinks are allowed around your computer, student computers and computer labs. 2

Preferred Method of Hooking up your Desktop PC 1. Plug Ethernet cable into an Ethernet jack. 2. Plug other end of that cable into your phone to the jack labeled 10/100 SW 3. Plug another Ethernet cable into the phone jack labeled 10/100 PC 4. Plug the other end of that cable into your computer. Ethernet Jack Phone PC What is Windows Login Screen? When you first turn on your computer you will see a similar Windows log-in screen. Through this log-in screen, provides a single view of the Bobcat network. Windows Desktop is a database that holds information about Berryville staff users and network resources everywhere on the network. Users log in once to access our Bobcat network. 3

How to log into the Bobcat Network On Campus Every employee is given a Username and Password to log into the Bobcat Server and email when you are on campus Windows based computers. You will use the same Username and Password for each. Username First part of your email address before the @ Password First time will be Password1 and then you must reset to your choosing Bobcat Web Mail There are two prescribed ways to access school email. When away from school use the following: 1. Bobcat Web Mail Access your email from the Bobcat Home WebPage at www.bobcat.k12.ar.us Log into Bobcat Email using your Username and Password (Same as used for logging into Bobcat Network) 2. Important Information About Your Classroom Computer The computers in your classroom are not your personal computers. They are assigned to the room, not the employee. No food or drinks around the computer or printer. Due to the fact that the computers can, and do crash, do not keep any personal or important documents on the computer. Save school/work documents to the Bobcat Server or a memory stick (best practice). There is a program that s installed on your computer to automatically run; this is End Point Protection, which replaced AVG. It is a virus protection program for our network and your computer. Please do not cancel this program while it is running. It is very important to protect your computer, and our network. You are also responsible for keeping your computer clean and dust free. Saving to your folder on the Bobcat Server Saving work related documents, etc. to your folder on the Bobcat server is easy and a safe way to store your work documents. This also comes in handy if you have to move to a different classroom. As long as you log into the server as yourself, you can access your folder on the network anywhere in the District. Saving Your Documents to the Server To your folder on the Bobcat Server: Your ID\\(bvsdfs01\facultyhome) (Z:) click on this then the desired folder you wish to save document. 8

DO NOT SAVE PERSONAL PICTURES OR FILES TO THIS DRIVE! To a USB Memory Stick USB sticks or sometimes called flash drives, are by far the best way to save your documents if you need to access them from home. They may be purchased at Wal- Mart or any other electronic store. They come in a variety of sizes of GB. Be sure when you purchase one it is at least 8 GB or larger. Remember, when you save anything to the Bobcat Server, you will not be able to access the Server from home. Setting up Your ipad Apple ID Account Directions to Creating a NEW FREE Apple ID 1. Obtaining Your Google Gmail Account Google Gmail accounts are given to faculty only after completing - Google Drive Essential Training with Jess Stratton. This training is available via your Arkansas IDEAS account by accessing this website and then following the links for Lynda.com. Once you ve connected to Lynda.com, then search for the online course Google Drive Essential Training. This course is about 1 ½ hrs. long, and there is a certificate of completion at the end of the training. You will need this certificate to present to the Daniel Smith dsmith@bobcat.k12.ar.us (Network Administrator) to have your Gmail account activated. Once your account has been activated you can then have access to Google Classroom which has a ton of great educational tools. Never, use personal gmail or other email accounts to share or use for instructional purposes with your students. This is prohibited by the Technology User s Agreement you have signed. Use of Personal Devices The only personal device you are allowed to connect to and use on campus is your cell phone. You cannot bring and connect to the school servers any personal computers, programs, or other devices. This is policy to keep our network secure from unwanted virus, spam, bugs, and malicious programs that a personal home device could possibly carry into our systems. 11
