User Guide In this document, you will learn how to use the Learning Center to complete required, recommended or selfselected learning activities. You will also learn about the easy-to-use navigational icons designed to help guide you through your learning experience. You will not learn everything you need to know about the Learning Center, but you will learn enough to get comfortable navigating and exploring learning using some key features and capabilities. Signing In Logging On The Learning Center URL is inventivhealth.sumtotal.host.. Enter your assigned Username (for most, this will be your HR PeopleSoft ID).. Enter your assigned Password (this will be password for your initial login).. Select SIGN IN. LC_UserGuide 09/4/06 Page of 7
Answering Your Personal Security Question 4. The first time you sign in to the Learning Center, you will be prompted to answer your Personal Security Question.. Select the down arrow and Select One question to answer.. Enter your Answer in the Answer field (keep it simple and easy to remember). 4. Select SAVE to continue. Forgetting Your Password 4. If you forget your username and password, select the Forgot your password? link.. Enter your User Name.. Select if you want to reset your password via email OR answer your security question. 4. 7 6 5 5. If you selected email, you will be prompted to enter your email address (it must match the email address in the system) then select SEND to continue. 6. If you elected to answer your security question, enter your answer then select NEXT to continue. 7. If you answered your security question correctly, you will be prompted to enter and confirm your NEW PASSWORD (checks will appear in the radio buttons to indicate you are following the password rules). Select SAVE to continue. Exploring the Learning Center Interface After logging in and answering your security question, your home dashboard will appear. Below is a brief description of the useful icons you will see on your dashboard. This is followed by an explanation of your home dashboard. Understanding Icons Icons are located on the Learning Center header and are a quick way to get to important information. Icon Name Self Library Home Description Provides access to your learner profile and required/registered training and other learning activities available to you. Access the Library to look for training-related information such as courses, knowledge documents, and so on. Select this icon to return to your home dashboard Search Find what you need quickly by using the Enterprise Search feature. LC_UserGuide 09/4/06 Page 5 of 7
Understanding Your Home Dashboard You will see several sections on your home dashboard. These sections are designed to give you easier access and navigation to important tasks and information. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with your home dashboard options. 4 5 6. The Welcome section identifies you as a user and confirms that you are using the appropriate credentials. If your email address is not correct, the business email address field must be updated in PeopleSoft by HR.. The Learning Activity Status section provides at-a-glance real time information of your outstanding items, regardless of whether they are assigned, recommended, or self-select learnings. In the above example, the learner has 4 outstanding items. Select the Training activities circle to access learning activities. Status Definitions: Critical All assigned or registered learning activities with either upcoming or past due dates within the critical timeframe. Assigned Assigned learning activities (required or recommended) that the user has not yet registered for or started. Once the user registers for or launches an activity, it moves to the Upcoming or Current task type. Current Any registered activity with a start date equal to or earlier than the current date, or any in-progress activity without a start date (such as online courses or documents). Upcoming Any registered activity with a start date occurring after the current date. Required Certifications- Any assigned certifications/re-certifications that the learner needs to complete.. The Browse Library Learning Topics section will list your available courses by topic for just-in-time learning. Only courses mapped to a topic will appear in the library. 4. The Quick Links section gives you access to your Transcript, User Guide, and a link to send an email to the Service Desk if you cannot find resolution to your issue in the User Guide. 5. The Announcements section will keep you in the know about all things learning 6. The Featured Learning section highlights key learning opportunities that we think you would benefit from; we recommend that you review these offerings. Changing Your Password Follow these steps if at any time you want to change your password. 4 5 6. Select the Self icon to open the Self pane.. From the Self pane select CHANGE PASSWORD.. Enter your current password in the Old Password field. 4. Enter your new password in the New Password field. 5. Confirm your new password by entering it again in the Retype New Password field. 6. Select CHANGE PASSWORD. Changing Your Security Question Follow these steps if at any time you want to change your security question. 5 4 6. Select the Self icon to open the Self pane.. . Select the down arrow. 4. THEN select one of the available questions from the drop down list. 5. Enter your answer to the security question in the Answer field. 6. Select SAVE to continue. Completing Items on Your To Do List 4. Select the Training Activities (circle) icon under Learning Activity Status section on the home page.. A window will appear showing your activities (To Do List/Timeline). You can: - Filter tasks and learning activities by more properties, including name, type, dates, and priority. - See the task's or activity's type, priority, and status directly on its card. - View more information for an activity directly on its card such as assignment type, due date, start and end date, delivery method, status and progress.. To begin a learning activity, simply select the START button to launch. 4. If the above window appears, close the window and turn off the pop up blocker first (see pop up blocker information in the appendix). Refer to the Appendix for search tips. Searching for Learning Activities. Select the Search icon in the header.. Enter your search text in the search field. Registering for Learning Activities Some learning activities may require registration. Follow the steps below to register for an activity. If registering for an activity found via the search icon, use the drop down arrow next to SELECT to register.. If registering for an activity on your To Do List (refer to the Completing Items on Your To Do List section for instructions on accessing your To Do List), click the REGISTER button. Note: If the activity has one-click registration enabled, you will be registered for the activity after clicking REGISTER. Otherwise, you will proceed with step. LC_UserGuide 09/4/06 Page 9 of 7
4 5. To register for the curriculum or any tile-based registration, select the checkbox (if you click the activity name link, it will show more information about the activity). 4. Select Next. 5. Then select Submit. Cancelling Your Registration LC_UserGuide 09/4/06 Page 0 of 7
. Access your To Do List (refer to the Completing Items on Your To Do List section for instructions on accessing your To Do List) and locate target activity for registration cancellation. Appendix Search Tips Examples of searching for training: If you use... To search for Search results will include Single word (By Default asterisk (*) is appended at the end of keyword) Multiple words (By Default asterisk (*) is appended at the end of keyword) One or more words in quotes Single word with the asterisk as wildcard character Register Class List Class Registration class* Activity name or description or Activity Code or Activity Keyword that contain the word register. Variations of the word such as registering / 'registered' are displayed. Activity names or descriptions that contain the words class and list in any order or position. Example: The resource list for the Finance Fundamentals class. Trainings that use only one of these words or variations of the words do not display. Activity names or descriptions that contain the exact phrase. Example: The Accounting II class registration will be held on January 5.". Activity names or descriptions that contain the words class such as classroom or classes. Multiple words with the asterisk as wildcard character class* acc* Activity names or descriptions that contain both the words class and acc in any order. Example: Session on Accident Reporting Classes. Search is not case-sensitive. For example, if you search for product training or Product Training, you will get the same results. If you use a space between words in the Search box, the results include all records that contain both search words. You can use an asterisk (*) as a wild card character to substitute for zero or more characters. Search ignores punctuation marks and common short words when used as search criteria. Examples of common short include: "and," "or," "the," "as," "after," and "much." If you know a training's activity code, search for the training using the code as a keyword. Disable Pop-up Blocker on Internet Explorer: From the Tools drop menu select Pop-up Blocker, then Pop-up Blocker Settings. If the drop menu options are not visible, tap the left Alt key to make them appear. In the resulting dialog enter sumtotal.host into the Address of website to allow: text field. Disable Pop-up Blocker on Macintosh Safari: Open the Safari drop menu and choose Preferences. Select the Security tab and then uncheck Block pop-up windows. Disable Pop-up Blocker on Firefox: Choose Options from the Tools drop menu. In the Options dialog, select the security tab and then select the Exceptions button. LC_UserGuide 09/4/06 Page 5 of 7
Sumtotal.host Enter sumtotal.host into the Address of website: text field. Select the Allow button to add it to the list. Select the Close button to finish. Disable Pop-up Blocker on Chrome: A warning to the top right of the browser will appear when a pop-up has been blocked. Click on the warning icon to open the pop-up warning dialog. Select the button next to Always allow pop-ups from sumtotal.host and then select the Done button. Attempt to open the presentation again and it should work. LC_UserGuide 09/4/06 Page 6 of 7
