LOGIN Before you make any changes to your site, you will need to login. The login for your site is: portwalkplace.com/wp-admin Once you see the above screen, login using the following credentials: username: portwalk-place-editor password: Ij1C5ZsAmxd8*J 3
EDITING EXISTING PAGES In your Dashboard, click Pages on the left navigation. Click All Pages to access every page on your site. Find the page you want by searching for it in the top right corner or by scrolling through the list. Click the Page Name or Edit to access the editable pieces of the page. You can also access the editing screen directly from the page you want to edit. Click Edit Page in the upper left corner. 4
EDITING EXISTING PAGES [CONTINUED] There are a few different templates being used, most pages use the Default Template The following shows what field in the Dashboard corresponds to the visible site. Note: if field is not filled in, that section will not show up on page Be sure to click Update on the right to make sure all changes have been saved. Note: anything in this field will show up after bulleted lists Note: learn about editing Slider Images on page XX. This template is used for the following pages - Stay, Meet, Getting Here, Contact Us See the next XX pages for the other templates. 5
EDITING EXISTING PAGES [CONTINUED] List with Images Page Template The following shows what field in the Dashboard corresponds to the visible site. Note: if field is not filled in, that section will not show up on page Note: to add/ delete sections, click the plus/ minus symbols on the right side, to move sections, click and drag the number on the left side. This template is used for the following pages - Attractions, Work Note: learn about editing Slider Images on page XX. The Eat page uses a similar template, but also includes images (List with Images Page Template) The Events page uses a similar template, but also includes months (Events Page Template) 6
EDITING EXISTING PAGES [CONTINUED] Residences Page Template The following shows what field in the Dashboard corresponds to the visible site. Be sure to click Update on the right to make sure all changes have been saved. Note: learn about editing Slider Images on page XX. This template is used for the Live section only 7
ADDING NEW PAGES In your Dashboard, click Pages on the left navigation. Click Add New Insert information into content areas. Updated the Parent Page and Template in Page Attributes. Click the blue Publish button to make the page live. 8
EDITING/ADDING TEXT Once in the Edit Page, click in the Content Area to edit/add text. Click Preview Changes in the top right to make sure text looks correct. Click Update after any changes to make sure they take effect. 9
EDITING/ADDING TEXT [CONTINUED] To create a link in the Content Area Highlight the word/s you want linked & click the Insert/Edit Link button. Link to either an external HTML page by typing in the URL in the URL field, or link to another page on your site by selecting the page from the dropdown list. Select if you want the link to open in a new window or not. 10
EDITING/ADDING TEXT [CONTINUED] To link to a PDF Move your pointer to where you want to add the PDF link or highlight a word you want linked. Click Add Media. Either select a PDF from the existing Media Library or click Upload Files in the top left to add new images. Once PDF has been selected, make sure the title (what shows in the text) is correct. Select Media File from the drop down box under Attachment Display Settings. 11
EDITING/ADDING TEXT [CONTINUED] To make a link a Button Make sure the word is already linked. Highlight the link & click Format > Button Choose either Button or White Button depending on what section you are in. 12
EDITING/ADDING IMAGES To add an image into a Content Area Move your pointer to where you want to add the image. Click Add Media. Either select an image from the existing Media Library or click Upload Files in the top left to add new images. Once image has been selected, edit it s Title, Alignment, Size, etc. on the right. 13
EDITING/ADDING IMAGES [CONTINUED] To edit an image in a Content Area Click on the image you want to edit & a small menu will appear. Click on the image button to edit, the red circle button to delete. Make any edits necessary in the Edit Image screen. 14
SLIDER IMAGES (ROYALSLIDER) To add/delete photos in an existing Header Slider Click on RoyalSlider on the left menu. Select the Gallery you would like to edit. Add photos by clicking Add Images and selecting images from the Media Library or uploading images. Delete images by hovering over the image you want to delete and clicking the X in the top right corner. 15
SLIDER IMAGES (ROYALSLIDER) [CONTINUED] To add a new Header Slider Hover over an existing slider (any gallery except Homepage Slider) and select Duplicate. Click on the duplicated Slider to edit images & name. Edit Slider Name & add/delete images. 16
SLIDER IMAGES (ROYALSLIDER) [CONTINUED] Go back to slider list & copy shortcode that s in the right field. Paste this copied shortcode into the Slideshow Field on the page you would like the slider to appear. Notes about the Header Slider All Slider Images should be 1600px wide by 600px high 17
EDITING/ADDING IMAGES [CONTINUED] Optimizing/Resizing an Image Open a browser and go to http://pixlr.com/editor/ Note: you may need to update your flash settings for this program to work. Click Open Image from Computer Once image is open, click the Crop Tool in the upper left corner. Select Output Size in the Constraint Drop Down. Type in the Width & Height you want your final image to be. 18
EDITING/ADDING IMAGES [CONTINUED] Click and Drag your mouse across the image to see your crop size. Click Enter to crop your image. 19
EDITING/ADDING IMAGES [CONTINUED] Click File > Save to save your image. Choose a new name for your image and choose JPEG as the format, Quality 80. Click OK 20
