CDDHS Science Facebook Page Assignment Either you or someone you know needs to have a Facebook account. Find the CDDHS Science page on Facebook. Like the page to indicate that you have visited the page and that you are ready to start the assignment. If you are using someone else s Facebook account to access the page, let your teacher know the name of the person who will like the page. Find a posting that you find interesting and related to the science courses you are taking. Find 2 additional reputable sources related to the topic of your choice. Some postings have direct links to supporting publications.there are many excellent on-line text and video sources (TED Talks, demonstrations, Sixty Symbols, Science Alert, IFL Science (which has good information despite an offensive facebook page name), etc). Appropriate topics must be scientifically relevant. Some topics are not appropriate for a 5 minute presentation format. For example, more than 99% of scientific studies support that climate change is happening. If you wish to deny climate change in your 5 minute presentation, more than 297 of your 300 seconds must be devoted to the science involved in climate change research. You will have less than 3 seconds to present a contradictory theory. Topics will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Provide an annotated bibliography for the source of your information when you do your presentation. Be prepared to write a summary of approximately 500 words in class using one index card of prepared information that you can bring into class. Plan a 3 to 5 minute presentation for the class (not including video). Use Google Presentations, Powerpoint, or on-line software such as Prezi for your in-class presentation. Choose a presentation date from the available times. Incorporation of video into your presentation is encouraged but should not be more than 10 minutes in length.
