Benefits f VPX (VITA 46) and OPEN VPX (VITA 65): Open VPX defines a reliable and transparent way t ensure the interperability between the VPX Mdules frm different vendrs as well as the cmpatibility between certain BP- and Slt cnfiguratins with similar VPX mdules. Due t the new Open VPX (VITA 65) specificatin, the pssible varius backplane cnfiguratins have been reduced t a suitable minimum. Nevertheless thse s-called backplane prfiles are giving clear infrmatin abut the data rate, ruting tplgy and the fabric tplgy that has t be used n the backplane. Fr many applicatins, the data transmissin rate and vibratin resistance f the cnventinal parallel VME64x technlgy are n lnger adequate. Cnsequently, slutins based n VITA 46 / VPX are targeted especially at aviatin and defence technlgy applicatins thanks t their inherent shck and vibratin resistance. Due t the cnstantly increasing demand, ELMA has expanded its prduct range nce again. A variety f basic systems using three different cling cncepts cnvectin, cnductin and liquid cling cver all significant applicatin areas in this categry. The special backplane plug-and-scket cnnectrs, which are cmpliant with the VITA 46 specificatin, already supprt data transmissin rates up t 10 Gbps and thus guarantee a lng prduct life cycle. The cnnectrs emply differential wafer technlgy t ensure reliable cntact between the backplane and the daughter cards. This imprves the data transmissin characteristics and prevents bending f the pins when the cards are exchanged. This technlgy enables field exchange while at the same time yielding lw maintenance csts. Anther special feature f VPX is the pssibility f using a rear transitin mdule with a frm factr as lw as 3U.
